The Greatest Village Doctor In The World
Chapter 2614 - 2613: Heavy Responsibility
Previously, Ling Feng and Li Fei’er had seen this statue, and at that time, there was no stone door on it.
But now, faint blue light is shining through the crack of the door, outlining its contours completely.
Ling Feng and Li Fei’er exchanged glances, then he reached out and pushed.
The tall stone door looked very heavy, yet with a gentle push, it immediately split open and slowly began to open automatically.
A space full of blue radiance appeared before the two.
Unconsciously, Li Fei’er grasped Ling Feng’s hand.
Sensing her tension, Ling Feng smiled: "Don’t be afraid, I’m here."
"Mm!"
Li Fei’er nodded, and the two stepped into this space.
Once inside, the blue radiance was not so glaring and then Ling Feng and Li Fei’er found themselves in an enormous semi-circular space with a large dome above.
Just as they settled in, the figure of a woman appeared ahead.
But this time, the two saw a shadow floating in mid-air, somewhat semi-transparent.
As they approached, the woman said: "Welcome."
"Thank you, may I ask why you appear this way?" Ling Feng asked.
"I am the Divine Sense left by the master, so I have no physical body."
The woman explained briefly, then continued, "My name is Lan, and my purpose is to guard this monument."
"Monument..."
Hearing this, Ling Feng’s heart sank, and he immediately asked, "What? Has the Eternal Star System already been abandoned?"
"Yes."
Lan nodded, giving Ling Feng the answer he least wanted to hear.
Taking a deep breath, Ling Feng asked, "Why, what exactly happened?"
"You can see for yourself."
Lan said, and her shadow suddenly faded, gradually disappearing.
Then, a scene began to appear on the dome above.
It was a star map, displaying the full view of seven planets.
Then, the scene began to move, as if the playback speed was accelerated, showing the changes of the seven planets.
From gray planets to the emergence of the atmosphere, then the planets changed color, each gradually developed its own hue.
Ling Feng realized that this was a scene resembling a documentary on the development of the Eternal Star System.
Next, he and Li Fei’er watched silently, holding hands and observing the dome attentively.
The playback progressed quickly, and after a while, images began to show people flying in the sky, then into space, powerful beings appeared.
There wasn’t just one powerful being; later, as many as ten people could fly in space.
The dazzling Xing He, these people didn’t travel to other star systems but fought in space instead, finally, a flash of white light filled the entire dome with whiteness!
Ling Feng and Li Fei’er were both stunned, then saw the dome slowly recovering, only to find that those ten powerful beings had disappeared.
Scenes transitioned on the dome, passing over the landscapes of the seven planets, empty without any people.
Then the dome returned to the star map, motionless.
"Do you understand?" Lan’s voice sounded.
Ling Feng nodded: "The power of the strong was too great, and it got out of control."
After speaking, he continued in a deep voice: "I don’t understand, the strong should exist to serve the weak, yet they fought among themselves, arbitrarily deciding the survival rights of others, on what grounds!"
"Desire."
Lan said, reappearing, and told Ling Feng: "The two of you have reached this place, I have conducted the test; you are the only ones among more than two thousand visitors to have qualified to enter here."
"So many people have been here?"
Ling Feng exclaimed.
Lan nodded: "In the vastness of space, countless explorers who discover this place all want to know what happened to the Eternal civilization."
"And then? They found that no one is left in this star system, why did they not stay? Are these seven planets not valuable resources?" Ling Feng asked.
"Of course, they wanted to stay, but the master set permissions; without approval, they would turn to dust along with these seven planets!" Lan said.
Hearing this, Ling Feng uttered an "oh" and suddenly understood.
He could guess why he passed the test, mainly because he wasn’t greedy.
Though he wanted these planets, he knew he didn’t need this place at the moment and respected the wishes of the original inhabitants.
Because of this, he passed the test.
However, what Ling Feng was most concerned about now was the matter of the spatial ring, so he looked at Lan, and asked firmly: "I don’t wish to possess these planets, I just hope to find what I want; can you tell me if your place truly has the spatial ring?"
"Yes."
Lan nodded, then said: "But to obtain it, you must take on the responsibility of rebuilding the Eternal Star System; otherwise, the master’s legacy won’t be given to you."
"Uh..."
Ling Feng was speechless, then bitterly smiled: "There’s no one left here, how can it be rebuilt? Even if I bring in lots of immigrants, it won’t be the same civilization as before!"
"The master foresaw that the power of the strong would become uncontrollable, so left our civilization with a batch of seeds, the last hundred thousand people of the Eternal Star System," Lan said.
"Oh?"
Ling Feng’s eyes brightened: "Where are the hundred thousand people?"
"With me."
Lan said, then looked at him and asked: "Are you willing to take on the responsibility of caring for these hundred thousand people?"
"Well...."
Ling Feng pondered for a moment, then promptly asked: "You mean these hundred thousand people are in a static space, and I need to be responsible for their future lives and such?"
"They are all embryos; you need to care for them starting as infants." Lan said.
"Ah?"
Ling Feng was dumbfounded upon hearing this.
Adults would be easier to handle, but embryos, how to care for them?
Moreover, if they are merely embryos, would I need to find someone for surrogacy?
This is quite a complicated matter.
These are the last ancestral seeds of the Eternal Star System, highly significant; Ling Feng, usually confident in everything, now found himself at a loss on how to proceed.
Just then, Li Fei’er suddenly spoke crisply: "We can do it!"
"Ah?"
Ling Feng was startled, turning his head to look at her.
"Don’t worry, uncle; while it’s somewhat complex, it’s not particularly difficult. The key is that it’s rare to encounter someone who can pass the test. If we don’t take care of them, who will?" Li Fei’er said to him.
Ling Feng chuckled bitterly: "But the races are different. How do you know that finding someone for surrogacy can nurture the embryos properly?"
"Surrogacy?"
Li Fei’er hesitated for a moment, then shook her head and said: "There’s no need for surrogacy; embryos can be cultivated separately, just need to find someone to care for each baby!"
