Chapter 1145: Intentions

The quest really burnt a lot of money, and this wasn’t all that there was to it.

After a certain fix during the year, the quest item would become tradable. In order to improve their reputation, rich Thieves would spend a great deal of money to purchase these quest items. As for the poor ones, they could only practice their theft skills.

They could earn up to a few dozen grand a week if they just spent three hours to steal these Heavy Bin Boxes.

In Lu Li’s previous life, he was around for the event, but he was a Druid back then, so all that he could do was watch. Perhaps, this was part of why he had chosen the Thief class in this life.

“Some might not be able to understand why I keep studying these Heavy Bin Boxes,” Fahrad began seriously, then continued, “I’m actually studying their mechanics – why is our Theft ability capable of stealing some treasure chests, and where do the items in these treasure chests come from? What can we do to not get caught when we steal?”

This Grand Master Rogue was filled with way too many questions.

Lu Li had to pretend that he was listening carefully; he had to go through this quest progress. Whether there were other quests down the line or rewards was in question.

Some players believed that there was, but most couldn’t activate it.

“But a far and strong belief has always supported me up until now. I think I’m getting closer and closer to understanding this secret, but now I need some Heavy Bin Boxes and the coins to study them. After I complete my research, I’ll have the ability to return the investment. Thieves, are you willing to believe and support me?”

“Gladly, Grand Master,” Lu Li lowered his head and said helplessly.

It didn’t matter whether he believed it or not; he just wanted the quest.

“First, you need to understand the concepts behind the Theft ability. It’s a special skill for Thieves. It allows you to obtain special items off your enemies without a battle, but if you use it inappropriately, you will upset your enemy and put yourself in danger…..” Fahrad continued to speak.

She had too much to say, but because her looks were truly beautiful, no one really disliked talking to her.

Some could probably just watch her go on and on for a whole afternoon. However, Lu Li wasn’t fooled by her beauty; he heard something else from all her talk.

Fahrad wasn’t just explaining Theft, but was also explaining Sap and Stealth when approaching targets. She explained Backstab and Cheap Shot after getting caught, along with some survival and escape mechanisms.

Lu Li reminded Water Fairy to pay attention.

Water Fairy was surprised to discover that, even with the temptations of beauty, Lu Li was still better than herself at picking up the hidden intentions behind the NPC’s talk.

“Stealing is bad… that is, only if you get caught,” Fahrad concluded.

The System announced that Water Fairy had received a quest – Stealing isn’t a Sin. Lu Li and Water Fairy were to each bring back 50 Heaving Bin Boxes for Fahrad. The quest rewarded a certain amount of reputation from Ravenholdt Manor and could only be accepted once per day. However, if you had a lot of gold coins, the System wouldn’t restrict you. Thief players referred to this quest as a ‘money stealer’.

The most important aspect of this quest was its time limit. Heavy Bin Boxes that were stolen after the set time frame would continuously decrease the amount of reputation that it would reward.

“We can only steal from humanoid targets. Where should we go?”

Water Fairy was used to asking Lu Li for advice. This trust had been built over a long time; Water Fairy wasn’t someone who’d usually let others make a decision for her.

Humanoid monsters included more than just humans.

This term broadly referred to Trolls, Elves and the Undead – organisms with wisdom. It even included Tauren, Ogre and Murlocs. Under different circumstances, some humanoid monsters would be placed outside of the category.

“Let’s go steal off the Syndicate Sentries,” Lu Li suggested.

If he stole from dungeon monsters, he would receive better rewards, especially the Heavy Bin Boxes from Stratholme. There was a certain chance that he would be able to obtain Teebu’s Blazing Long Sword by stealing.

At the beginning when Ruling Sword explored Stratholme, Lu Li had managed to steal one and gave it to Wandering. Perhaps Wandering was too much of a show-off, as someone had offered $200,000 for the information, but he turned it down.

It was uncertain as to how the information got out, but many people now knew that you would be able to steal Teebu’s Blazing Long Sword from the monsters in Stratholme. The location became the perfect place for Thieves to utilize themselves. Unfortunately, the monsters had a 30-minute cooldown before anyone could steal off them again. The cooldown would grow even longer if these monsters were killed.

The monsters outside of dungeons were a different story. They only had a 10-minute cooldown for Theft and depending on area, they refreshed at different times. However, there was no way you would have to wait around for dozens of minutes.

The refresh time for Syndicate Sentries was even lower than 10 minutes.

Not to mention, the Syndicates were enemies to Ravenholdt Manor. There was a chance that they would drop Syndicate Emblems, which could be used to trade for more reputation in Ravenholdt Manor.

The Syndicates had some bases spread throughout the Alterac Mountains and Hillsbrad. In a spot between these two areas, there was a Morfex Castle. The Baron of the castle had recruited many soldiers to fight for him.

His army was mainly formed of bandits, and under the lead of Baron Morfex, who was a nobleman from the previous empire of Alterac, they fought together to regain their ancestor’s land.

The Syndicate Sentries near the Morfex Castle usually came in groups of two. If two Thieves could work together, one could Sap while the other stole. Then, they would kill of the monsters together. After looting, they could head straight off to the next set of monsters.

This was even achievable by one Thief alone.

Lu Li had to admit that it wasn’t really that necessary for him anymore to take Water Fairy with him on quests.

There were also so many members in Ruling Sword, and there were plenty of Thieves who had joined Ravenholdt Manor with Lu Li’s help. There was no way these Thieves could possibly turn down the request of their Thief God.
