Chapter 290: Chapter 135: The True Essence of Cuisine! Encountering the Weight Loss Camp (Part 2)

It smells amazing!

Nearby, Fang Chang and Zhan Yang, sitting at a small table, were doing the exact same thing.

"That’s Boss Su for you! Even a simple dish he whips up is enough to make you drool!" Brother Fang Chang deliberately raised his voice, trying to suck up to Boss Su.

Zhan Yang nodded vigorously. "A dish like this is perfect with rice. I’m definitely having three bowls later!"

Seeing that the oil was hot enough, Su Chen poured half of the marinated beef into the wok.

"TSSSSSS—"

A fierce sizzle erupted from the wok again, accompanied by a rich, meaty aroma!

The fragrance of stir-fried meat was different from that of stewed meat. It wasn’t as mellow, but it was much more intense.

The smell immediately drew the curious gazes of a few young women from the neighboring stall.

"It smells so good!"

"Yeah, I just had dinner not long ago, but smelling this is making me hungry again... Must resist, must resist!"

"With skills like that, why is he running a street stall? Wouldn’t it be better to be a head chef at a restaurant?"

"He’s all about freedom. Why else would he be cooking in a suit? This boss is one of a kind!"

But no one knew.

At that moment, Su Chen was also drenched in sweat!

’This is so frustrating!’

As he stir-fried over high heat, the drawbacks of the household stove became painfully obvious. The insufficient firepower was causing the beef to lose its moisture during the cooking process!

A layer of water was already visibly pooling at the bottom of the wok!

If he let this continue, the dish would probably be ruined.

"Activate Skill: White Jade Hand!"

Even though this was just a simple home-style dish, a stir-fry that didn’t even reach S Class, Su Chen seemed to be locked in a battle with it.

’I will succeed!’

The moment White Jade Hand was activated, a flood of information poured into Su Chen’s mind.

’Moisture is escaping from inside the beef. The temperature needs to be increased rapidly.’

’Damn it!’

Su Chen immediately cranked the stove to its highest setting. He then scooped up some water with his ladle, and with a flick of his wrist, sprinkled the water into the wok like fine droplets!

BOOM!!!

The instant the water hit the oil, the wok erupted in a roaring blaze. The pillar of fire was exceptionally dazzling against the deepening twilight!

It drew gasps of astonishment from the people watching him!

In the eyes of many a kitchen novice.

If you methodically prepare a dish, I won’t be impressed, no matter how delicious it is.

But if you show me some flashy moves, like making the wok burst into flames, then I’ll think you’re a total badass!

Su Chen’s display of skill immediately left countless novices wide-eyed and stunned!

’The temperature is about right. Time to extinguish the flame...’

Su Chen lifted the wok off the stove. With a slight toss using the spatula and wok in coordination, the blaze within instantly vanished.

’Adding cilantro to high-temperature oil will release its fragrance more thoroughly.’

With the guidance of White Jade Hand and Su Chen’s own technique of dry-frying the chilies, the preparation steps for this Stir-Fried Yellow Beef were almost completely altered.

The cilantro stems, cut into inch-long pieces, were added to the wok all at once.

A tender vegetable like this only needed a few tosses in the extremely hot oil to release its fragrance.

When White Jade Hand sensed the beef was about eighty percent cooked, Su Chen began adding a little light soy sauce, drizzling in drops of sesame oil amidst the billowing ’wok hei’.

Yellow beef is different from the ’steak’ most people are familiar with. Chinese yellow beef cannot be eaten rare or medium-rare; it must be fully cooked.

’A perfectly cooked Stir-Fried Yellow Beef. Please enjoy with rice immediately!’

Su Chen used his spatula to transfer the stir-fry from the wok into a disposable paper bowl. "Order up!"

"Got it!" He Shuting turned and took the dish from the service window. Before she could even walk away, she heard Fang Chang shouting.

"Mine! Mine! That dish is mine!"

Su Chen poked his head out halfway. "Fang Chang, that one’s 58 for you!"

"Wait, Boss Su... why is mine 58?!" Fang Chang asked reflexively.

Su Chen shot him a look. "Everyone else’s is called Stir-Fried Yellow Beef. Yours is called Flame-Kissed Beef. So, are you paying 58 for it or not?"

Fang Chang was taken aback for a second. "I’m eating! Of course I’m eating! For that name alone, I have to eat it!"

Tearing open a pair of disposable chopsticks, Fang Chang grabbed a huge heap of the dish.

It was a mix of beef, celery, chili segments, and cilantro!

He didn’t care that it was piping hot. He shoved the whole glistening, oil-coated mouthful of meat and vegetables straight into his mouth!

"Holy shit!"

Fragrant, but not spicy.

Or rather, the spiciness was very subtle. There was a clear hint of heat on the first bite, but it vanished completely after a few chews.

The unique aroma of the beef, mixed with the other ingredients, created a complex fragrance.

The texture was beyond reproach. The beef was tender and smooth, yet had a satisfying chew. Fang Chang had great confidence in the quality of his beef!

After that one bite.

Fang Chang unconsciously closed his eyes. ’So damn good!’

Zhan Yang was dumbfounded.

’Seriously, Brother Fang Chang? Do you have to be so dramatic?’

’Even if it’s that good, your expression is just too over-the-top. No way, I don’t believe it!’

Zhan Yang immediately tore open his own chopsticks. "Let me try some! Quick!"

Fang Chang deftly dodged the other’s chopsticks with his paper bowl. "You ordered your own, didn’t you! Besides, mine is mild. The one you ordered is spicy. Go eat your own!"

After speaking, Fang Chang yelled at the top of his lungs, "Boss! A bowl of rice over here!"

The dish was delicious, no doubt about it, but for some reason, he felt like a bowl of rice would make it absolutely perfect!

Liu Shengnan grabbed a pre-portioned bowl of rice and brought it over. "Look at the way you’re eating. Can’t a big boss like you be a little more reserved?"

Fang Chang picked up some of the stir-fry with his chopsticks, tapped it onto his rice, and said, "Not even a little bit! CHOMP!"
