Jiang Fan glanced over. It seemed to be a financial data analysis report.

Yin Ruxue said, "This National Day promotional campaign was a great success. Although the holiday isn’t over for a few more days, Xuerong International’s sales have already surpassed previous years."

Jiang Fan nodded slightly. "That’s good news!"

To be honest, Jiang Fan had expected this kind of performance.

Yin Ruxue continued, "You’re very sharp. Both of your proposals were incredibly successful. It’s a real shame for you to resign now."

Jiang Fan pulled a cigarette from his pocket, hesitated, and then stuffed it back in.

"President Yin, I appreciate the offer, but I have my own things to take care of now. Like I’ve said, when it comes to Mengmeng, I’ll do anything, no questions asked. But as for the company... I think I’ll have to pass."

Yin Ruxue studied Jiang Fan carefully without saying a word.

After a long moment, she sighed.

"Fine. I won’t force you. Is your offer to buy me dinner still on the table?"

"Of course! Whatever you want, President Yin. It’s my treat."

"No need. We’ll take a rain check on that dinner. Didn’t you just have a meal with Qingci? For today, just come home with me."

She paused, then added, "Mengmeng hasn’t eaten with both of us in a long time. It’s the National Day holiday, and it’s rare for me to get a day off. I’ve already asked Nanny Chen to get things ready."

"No problem," Jiang Fan agreed without hesitation.

Yin Ruxue gave a satisfied smile and began to gather her things. The two of them quickly left the office, and Yin Ruxue handed the keys to her Maybach directly to Jiang Fan.

"You drive."

Once they were in the car, Jiang Fan handed the BMW keys to Yin Ruxue and said, "Now that the issue with the Liu Family is resolved, I don’t think I’ll need to go back to Yifeng Garden anymore."

Yin Ruxue didn’t reach out to take the keys. She said coolly, "Keep them. You might need a place to stay when you’re playing games with your little girlfriend."

"Uh... I, uh..." Jiang Fan’s face flushed red instantly.

Jiang Fan pocketed the keys and quickly started the car.

"Jiang Fan, what are your plans now?" Yin Ruxue suddenly asked.

Jiang Fan didn’t answer. He lowered the window a little and asked instead, "Do you mind if I smoke?"

Yin Ruxue frowned and instinctively covered her nose, but still said softly, "Be quick about it."

He lit a cigarette and blew a smoke ring out the window, feeling a sense of deep satisfaction.

He wasn’t sure when it started, but Jiang Fan felt himself getting addicted to the taste of nicotine.

Back when he was a million in debt, Jiang Fan would occasionally smoke to relieve stress, but he couldn’t even afford to buy his own cigarettes back then. Most of the time, he just bummed them off Wu Qiang.

Perhaps because of all the recent troubles, he’d unconsciously become addicted to the taste again.

Feeling much more at ease, Jiang Fan finally said, "Honestly, I don’t have any great plans. At first, I was thinking of going back to my old job delivering food, but I’ve been too tired lately and want to rest for a while. It’s also a good chance for me to help out at the Hidden Dragon Academy and the orphanage."

"Alright. If you ever need my help, feel free to call me," Yin Ruxue said.

Jiang Fan nodded. Just then, Yin Ruxue changed the subject. "By the way, I spoke with the headmaster at Mengmeng’s kindergarten. She said that a lot of parents want to enroll their children in Hidden Dragon Academy. Apparently, a parent named Nalan Jia is organizing it."

"Nalan?" Jiang Fan blinked in surprise, then smiled. "No problem. Since Nalan is organizing it, just have him and the headmaster contact Ying. There shouldn’t be any issues. This way, I’ll have more time to look after Mengmeng!"

"Looks like Mengmeng is going to be happy for a good while," Yin Ruxue said with a smile.

A little over ten minutes later, the car stopped in front of the villa.

The moment they walked in, Mengmeng came running from the living room.

"Daddy! Mommy!"

"Mengmeng, is your leg feeling better?" Jiang Fan scooped her up, spun her around once, and then checked on her injury.

Mengmeng giggled. "Much better! It doesn’t hurt anymore. The last two times Nanny Chen put ointment on it, I didn’t even cry!"

"That’s my brave girl! You’re all grown up!" Jiang Fan said, fondly pinching Mengmeng’s cheek. "Let Daddy see... wait, when did you lose a tooth?"

Jiang Fan noticed that one of Mengmeng’s little canine teeth had fallen out at some point, making her smile all the more adorable.

"I don’t know!" Mengmeng giggled. "I went to sleep and it was gone when I woke up the next morning! Mommy said a mouse secretly took it!"

Jiang Fan glanced at Yin Ruxue, not knowing whether to laugh or cry.

"You play with Mengmeng for a bit. I’m going to the kitchen to help Nanny Chen," Yin Ruxue said.

Jiang Fan nodded and set Mengmeng down on the sofa.

But just as he sat down, his phone suddenly rang at the most inopportune time.

Jiang Fan looked at Yin Ruxue awkwardly. Her gaze suddenly turned to ice.

After a moment’s hesitation, Jiang Fan took out his phone. The call was from Li Muwan.

Jiang Fan’s first instinct was to hang up.

But a moment later, it rang again.

"Xue’Er, it’s Li Muwan," Jiang Fan said awkwardly.

Yin Ruxue’s gaze remained icy, but she motioned for him to take the call.

"Hello, is this Jiang Fan?"

The call connected. A woman’s low, cold voice came through the line.

"Who is this?"

Jiang Fan froze. The voice on the other end sounded familiar, but it wasn’t Li Muwan.

"Your girlfriend is drunk at our bar. She damaged a lot of our liquor, so I had to use her phone to call you."

"Girlfriend?" Jiang Fan said in surprise.

"That’s right. She claims you two had a fight and said you’d come over to pay her bill. If you don’t, our only choice is to call the police."

"Wait, I’m on my way!" Jiang Fan said through gritted teeth.

Even though he didn’t want to have anything to do with Li Muwan, Li Jiaxiang had helped him a great deal. He couldn’t just let something bad happen to her.

Still, this would be the last time he would do something like this for Li Muwan.

’This is the last time,’ he thought.

"Kangqiao Water County," the woman said, then hung up.

"Um... Xue’Er..."

After hanging up, Jiang Fan looked toward Yin Ruxue.

"Fine, I heard you. Go, and be quick about it," Yin Ruxue said coldly.

He could tell Yin Ruxue was trying her best to suppress her emotions.

Jiang Fan clenched his jaw and sighed. "Wait for me. I’ll be back before dinner, I promise!"

Jiang Fan stroked Mengmeng’s forehead and said gently, "Be a good girl, Mengmeng. Daddy has something urgent to take care of, but I’ll be back soon!"

Just then, Mengmeng suddenly asked, "Daddy, why did that lady on the phone say your girlfriend is at a bar?"
