Yin Ruxue glanced around and asked, "You slept on the sofa all night?"

"What else was I supposed to do? Is there another room here? Or... should I have come up and held you while we slept?"

Jiang Fan teased.

Yin Ruxue’s face flushed red, and she shot Jiang Fan a fierce glare.

Jiang Fan chuckled. "You look well today. You must be recovering nicely. I’ll heat up your medicine in a bit. It’s best to drink it while it’s hot!"

Yin Ruxue nodded. "I’m heading to the office to handle some things soon. Don’t run off anywhere. Wait for me to finish up, and I’ll come back to find you. We’ll figure out what to do about the Liu Family then!"

"No need," Jiang Fan said lightly. "I’ve already handled the Liu Family matter. You don’t have to worry about it."

"Handled?" Yin Ruxue said in surprise.

Jiang Fan nodded slightly. "Liu Jianghe won’t be coming to bother me again, and he won’t be bothering you either."

"Jiang Fan, what kind of joke is this? Don’t tell me you’ve been scared out of your wits."

Yin Ruxue stared at Jiang Fan. She had seen Liu Jianghe’s attitude clearly yesterday. It was obvious he wouldn’t let things go. Yet here was Jiang Fan, telling her first thing in the morning that the matter was resolved.

Jiang Fan looked at Yin Ruxue and sighed. "President Yin, even though Mengmeng and I aren’t related by blood, I feel a real connection with her. I won’t let anyone harm her. As for Mengmeng... whatever her attitude is when she finds out I’m just pretending to be her dad, I’ll accept it."

Jiang Fan spoke these words with sincerity, straight from the heart.

Yin Ruxue was taken aback for a moment, stunned into silence.

Jiang Fan continued, "Mengmeng is still young, and I want her to have a complete childhood. So whenever I’m free, I want to spend as much time with her as I can."

Yin Ruxue sighed. "Jiang Fan, let’s not talk about this for now. I have to get to the office!"

"Drink your medicine first!"

As he spoke, Jiang Fan got up from the sofa to heat the medicine for Yin Ruxue.

Meanwhile, Yin Ruxue washed up and then grabbed a piece of bread from the snack wall for breakfast.

Soon, Yin Ruxue was ready. She quickly drank her medicine and left.

Before leaving, Yin Ruxue added, "I had someone move the car to the underground garage yesterday. The keys are on the coffee table. But if you don’t have anything else to do, it’s best not to wander off. I’ll come find you after I’m done with work!"

Before Jiang Fan could even react, Yin Ruxue had finished speaking, shut the door, and left.

Jiang Fan didn’t pay it much mind. He glanced at the time; it was a little after ten in the morning.

He hesitated for a moment, then found Su Qingci’s number in his contacts and dialed it.

"Hello!"

The call connected quickly. Su Qingci’s voice was low, as if she wasn’t fully awake yet.

Jiang Fan felt a little apologetic and quickly said, "Sorry, did I wake you?"

There was a long pause on Su Qingci’s end. When she spoke again, she sounded much more awake.

"Jiang Fan? You finally decided to give me a call!"

Jiang Fan gave an awkward laugh and quickly explained, "Well, you see, when I quit my last job, you gave me your business card, didn’t you? You said you’d recommend a job for me!"

"So you’ve come around? Decided to work at the security company?" Su Qingci asked.

"It’s not for me, it’s for a good friend of mine. He’s run into some trouble recently and desperately needs a job. I was hoping he could try out at that security company you mentioned. He used to be a food delivery driver, so he’s in great shape!"

"A friend?"

"Yeah, one of my best buds!"

"Where are you now? I’ll come get you and your friend," Su Qingci said without hesitation.

Wu Qiang replied, "Old Niu and I went to the police station first thing this morning to file a report. We just got out and were about to head back to Old Niu’s shop to clean the place up a bit."
