The Goddess CEO Fell in Love with Me
Chapter 314: Endless Fear
Chapter 314: Chapter 314: Endless Fear
"Are you going to find Liujiang River directly?" Yin Ruxue asked.
Jiang Fan nodded. "I have to find him."
"Is there anything I can do to help?" Yin Ruxue asked again.
Jiang Fan paused for a moment, then said, "What you need to do now is focus on getting better. Don’t worry about anything else. However, there are two people you need to be careful of lately."
"Who are they?"
"Chen Xuan and Su Qingchu," Jiang Fan said. "Yesterday, while Mengmeng was taking her afternoon nap, Chen Xuan called me. He said he wanted to talk about you and asked me to meet him. Su Qingchu was there too. I went to see them, and right after that, Mengmeng disappeared."
"So you weren’t at the orphanage yesterday because you went to see Chen Xuan and Su Qingchu?" Yin Ruxue asked in surprise.
Jiang Fan nodded.
"I suspect Liujiang River has already colluded with those two. Otherwise, there’s no way he’d know our whereabouts so well!"
Yin Ruxue frowned upon hearing Jiang Fan’s words.
"As for Chen Xuan, I haven’t seen him since my grandfather’s banquet. Su Qingchu, on the other hand, has asked to meet me a few times, but I’ve turned her down every time."
"Anyway, you’d better be careful around those two weasels."
"Okay."
"Get some rest. I’ll sleep on the sofa. Just call me if you need anything."
Jiang Fan went downstairs, turned on his computer, and began searching online for information about the "Liu Family of Chenel."
Just then, a friend request notification popped up on his WeChat.
Jiang Fan opened it. The name on the request was Lu Youyou.
Without a second thought, Jiang Fan accepted the request.
A moment later, Lu Youyou sent over a large batch of files, followed by a final message: "Grandpa told me to send these to you."
"Thanks!"
Jiang Fan sent a reply, then began to study the files carefully.
He had to admit, the information available online was scarce. Lu Youyou’s files, however, were far more detailed, containing information that was impossible to find on the web.
After over an hour of research, Jiang Fan had a general understanding. The Liu Family of Chenel, much like Chen Feng’s Family, primarily dealt in jade and antiques, though the Liu Family’s scope was much broader. In addition to their jade business, they had also ventured into real estate and had dealings with three of Yang City’s Eight Great Clans, including the preeminent Hua Family.
Of course, the Liu Family couldn’t compare to the Hua Family, but there was a crucial reason they were so successful in Chenel: they had several Grandmasters in their service. Among them were a number of Inner Strength Grandmasters and even one at the Postnatal Realm.
Jiang Fan recalled Elder Lu once saying that Grandmasters were the foundation upon which a family could establish itself and rise to power.
Just then, another message came from Lu Youyou: "My grandfather told me to remind you that the Liu Family has dispatched all their Grandmasters to Yang City. He wants you to be careful. If you need anything, give us a call."
Jiang Fan smiled and replied, "That’s perfect. It saves me a wasted trip to Chenel."
After sending the message, an idea had already formed in Jiang Fan’s mind.
Using his x-ray vision, Jiang Fan checked on Yin Ruxue.
Yin Ruxue was lying in bed, her breathing deep and even.
Weakened by a fit of rage and a nasty cold, and exhausted from the medicine and acupuncture, Yin Ruxue was now completely spent. He figured she wouldn’t wake up before morning.
Jiang Fan found some casual clothes in the wardrobe, changed, and left immediately.
Twenty minutes later, a Maybach pulled up in front of a luxury villa in Yang City’s East Suburb.
Jiang Fan poked his head out of the Maybach, glanced at the address on the gate, and then got out of the car.
According to Elder Lu’s information, ever since Jiang Fan had crippled Liu Yingtai, Liujiang River had rushed here from Chenel. He had set Liu Yingtai up in this very villa with several doctors providing round-the-clock care, guarded by a number of Grandmasters.
Sure enough, just as Jiang Fan reached the villa gate, two men in Zhongshan suits approached him.
Both men were powerfully built, the kind that radiated brute strength.
"Who are you?"
One of the men stepped forward.
"I’m looking for Liujiang River. Tell him my name is Jiang Fan!"
"Damn it, who do you think you are, using his full name? You think you can just meet President Liu whenever you feel like it?"
The man in front shoved Jiang Fan impatiently. "Scram!"
"THUD!"
With a dull thud, the man went flying more than five meters.
Jiang Fan had held nothing back with that kick.
"This..."
Seeing this, the other man’s face went pale with fright.
"Go. Tell Liujiang River that Jiang Fan is here to see him."
The second man saw his partner lying motionless on the ground, not knowing if he was dead or alive, and immediately bolted into the villa.
Without a word, Jiang Fan followed right behind him, striding into the villa.
He passed through a rockery garden and entered the villa, which was brightly lit.
On a sofa inside, Liujiang River was calmly sipping tea. He was flanked by four or five men, two of whom Jiang Fan recognized from the Toyota Prado.
As Jiang Fan slowly stepped inside, the henchman scrambled in ahead of him.
"President Liu, this kid insisted on seeing you!"
Liujiang River looked slightly surprised to see Jiang Fan.
His expression darkened as he yelled at the henchman, "What’s the panic? Useless trash. You couldn’t even stop one person!"
"President Liu, you’re looking well," Jiang Fan said with a dry laugh, strolling into the villa.
Liujiang River lit a cigar and chuckled. "Jiang Fan, I gave you three days. Looks like you’ve made up your mind, coming to my doorstep so soon."
"I did come here today to have a talk with President Liu," Jiang Fan sneered.
"Have a seat."
There was no denying Liujiang River’s powerful aura. He was intimidating without even trying to be.
Even with an uninvited guest like Jiang Fan before him, he remained perfectly calm.
In this regard, his son, Liu Yingtai, was leagues behind him.
Jiang Fan didn’t stand on ceremony. With a cold smirk, he sat down on the sofa directly across from Liujiang River.
"Serve the tea," Liujiang River ordered a man behind him.
A moment later, a man placed a cup of tea in front of Jiang Fan.
"Jiang Fan, you’ve got a lot of nerve coming here alone. Looks like you’ve made your decision."
Liujiang River pulled out another cigar, his posture radiating condescension.
Jiang Fan just smiled, pulled a cigarette from his own pocket, lit it, and took a deep drag.
"A problem has come up, so it needs to be solved. I imagine the only reason President Liu hasn’t made a move against me yet is that you wanted to talk, too. Am I right?"
"Hmph..." Liujiang River snorted. "You should be grateful I haven’t killed you for just being able to sit in front of me. To be honest, my first instinct was to have you chopped into pieces. But letting you die that easily would be a gift. My son... I’ve never so much as laid a hand on him, and you crippled him. He’s lying upstairs right now, and we don’t even know if he’ll ever walk again!"
"So, what are you getting at, President Liu?"
"Heh... I’m going to make you experience terror. Endless terror!"
