THE GOD EATER

As he looked around, he realized that he was standing in the air above the continent. When he looked at the sky where he came from, he saw that it was cracked. He saw that the cracks were like broken glass.

He also saw that there was a white opaque barrier at the edge of the continent. This signified that this was a Cave Heaven.

While he was wondering how a Cave Heaven could survive under the river of death, the sun of this world noticed him. Then the sun came over to him.

As the sun streaked through the sky in his direction, he examined it closely. What he saw was a golden star brimming with power.

The sight of the golden star gave him flashbacks and reminded him of a certain fallen Dao Lord. This made him shake his head in disbelief and say to himself, ’It can’t be him, right? It can’t be Golden Sun.’

There was only one way to be sure, so he used the Power Identification Ability on this golden star.

As it turned out, this person was also a fallen Dao Lord. They weren’t Golden Sun, though. But this didn’t make him happy at all.

When he saw the Time Loop Supreme Metac, he understood why this Cave Heaven was able to survive for so long in the river of death. This was because the main ability of the Time Loop Supreme Metac was to erase the passage of time on a target, object, or area and bring it back to a moment in the past.

According to what he could tell, the Time Loop Supreme Metac worked by fixing the range of time of a target or object. This way, the object would return to the start when it reaches the end of the range set for it. The side effect of this is that the target wouldn’t die, no matter how much time has passed.

He is not sure if this will work on the mysterious power of the river of death. But if it worked, he could see how he would have survived in the river of death.

But he didn’t dwell on this too long because he had more important matters to deal with. After all, this person was the creator of the Time Pathway.

Just as he was wondering what to do, the golden sun came over to him. Then it said, "A new visitor. How interesting."

"You’re welcome here in my humble abode. However, you have to make two promises before we can proceed."

Loki relaxed somewhat when he heard this. This was because this fallen Dao Lord didn’t seem to notice that he was the one who stole their Rewind Metac.

He thought that it was reasonable that they couldn’t tell that he had the Rewind Metac since he wasn’t a mortal and didn’t have a Divine Position of the Time Pathway.

He had a Cave Heaven, which is a secluded slice of reality directly under his control, so this fallen Dao Lord should not be able to tell the conditions of his Cave Heaven. Since he didn’t have a Divine Position of the Time Pathway, the golden star should not expect him to be able to use the Rewind Metac even if he had it.

At the very least, they didn’t seem to have any hostility toward him from the golden star. It was either that there was no problem to worry about or the golden star was lying to make him lower his guard and not suspect that they were onto him.

Either way, he felt it was a good thing because if they were trying to trick him into relaxing, they had to be weaker than him. After all, someone who was vastly stronger than him and had ill intentions should attack him directly instead of resorting to tricks.

As these thoughts went through his mind, he bowed and said, "May I know your name, senior?"

The star chuckled and said, "Don’t call me senior. After all, we are of the same rank."

But Loki shook his head and said, "You’re older and worthy of respect. So I should call you senior."

Inwardly, he thought to himself, ’Anyway, it doesn’t cost me a thing to call you senior. If I can get you to lower your guard and increase your favorability to me by doing something that will cost me nothing, then I will do it all day.’

His insistence on calling the golden star senior seemed to work because the golden sun laughed. But just in case this was all a trick, Loki prepared to activate the Rewind Metac.

After laughing, the golden star said, "It is so good to meet someone new after so long."

Then it said, "Anyway, my name is the Time Traveler. What is your name?"

Loki racked his head before saying, "I don’t have a magnificent dao name like yours. You can just call me Ragnarok, senior."

He said that while thinking, ’To think I was once mistaken to be Time Traveler. But here is Time Traveler and I look nothing like him.’

Meanwhile, Time Traveler was saying, "Surely, you jest. Ragnarok sounds mighty enough to me."

So Loki smiled and said, "You’re too kind, senior Time Traveler."

As he smiled, he thought in amusement, `It seems I’m not bad at making up names if a fallen Dao Lord called my made-up name mighty. Or did he say that just to be polite?`

While he was wondering if Time Traveler had complimented his name for the sake of etiquette, Time Traveler continued to speak to him.
