Chapter 369: Saving People.

Her actions to stop him were impressive, but Loki only sneered at her and thought to himself, ’It is one thing that I can’t get you, but so you think that makes me so useless that I can’t destroy a stationary object?’

When he made his move, it was to rush down towards the city walls. His goal was to destroy the balistas.

But before he could reach them, giant javelins that were as thick as his muscular arm and longer than he was tall, smashed into him. The javelins were fast and imposing, but their power was only around 100,000 units, so they couldn’t threaten him even if he stood still.

He threw his fist at the first javelin that reached him and knocked it away. Then he smacked javelins that his hands could reach. As for the ones that his hands couldn’t reach, they either missed him completely or struck his legs.

All in all, six out of the ten balistas struck him. This didn’t harm him and didn’t even delay him much, and he was about to reach the city, so the guardian of nature had to take action to stop him.

The guardian of nature made plants grow from the city wall to such a length that they formed another level of obstacles for him. This second layer created a new wall made out of plants to stop him.

This time, he wouldn’t be able to avoid the wall of plants if he wanted to reach the balistas. But before the two guardians could be jubilant, a red ball of lightning struck the wall of plants.

The red ball of lightning exploded on contact with the wall, and the explosion was so mighty that even the inorganic wall made of stone beneath the organic wall wasn’t spared.

The wall of plants was eviscerated instantly and disappeared in a flash without any resistance, while the wall of stones shook and began to crack. But then the red lightning spread outwards from the point of contact into the surrounding area.

The red lightning was behaving like a flame. It stuck to the walls and continued to spread along the walls. If it wasn’t stopped, it was likely that it would burn down the walls and damage the city.

The guardian of nature became anxious when she saw this. She didn’t want him to damage her city at all, which was why she appeared to stop him before he entered the city. So now that her city was in danger of burning, she felt that Loki must be stopped at all costs.

However, there was nothing she could do to stop him from throwing more red balls of lightning into the city. He was causing so much damage to the city that even the guardian of light had to stop operating the giant balistas in favor of trying to put out the fire that he was causing.

The yellow flash was going around trying to cut off the spread of the red lightning. Loki saw this and decided to take advantage of it to produce more and more explosions.

So he created four fake cannon arms with the Shifting Armor for making balls of lightning. Now he could produce four balls of lightning at a time, not just two.

He ignored the balistas and the guardian of nature and only targeted the yellow flash. He ignored those two because they couldn’t threaten him and because they couldn’t run away from him.

Besides, the balistas and the guardian of nature could also be used to manipulate the yellow flash by forcing her to defend them. So he let them be.

His attempt to target the yellow flash would have been useless at any other time because of her superspeed. But she was currently busy trying to dig trenches to cut off the spread of the red lightning and protect the bird people in the city.

Her current priority was to save the people of the city, so she had limited dodging capacity. In fact, he didn’t even have to strike her head on. The red ball of lightning only needed to explode near her position for its power to engulf her.

At first, she could manage to evade the explosions while digging trenches and carrying bird people out of the city. But her luck eventually ran out, and a ball of lightning exploded close to her position.

Even though the speed of so much compressed energy exploding outward was high, she was still faster than it. But she was carrying someone, which reduced her speed, and the explosion had taken her off guard, which made her late to dodge it. So the explosion managed to touch her even though she ran with all of her might.

The explosion nicked a small part of the left wing on her back. The initial injury was minimal, but when the Metacs of the Killing Pathway took effect, the injury exploded in severity by over five times, and her wing became crippled.

This injury, though severe, was only enough to put her wing out of order. In a normal situation, this is an injury that she can shrug off. But the Bleed Metac will make it so that the injury will kill her over time, and the Sting Metac will make it so that she dies before the Bleed Metac kills her.

The Sting Metac caused the pain of her injury to strike her mind in a way she had never experienced before. The pain stunned her and made her falter as she was running away from the explosion. The weight of the person she was carrying made the matter worse by turning her faltering into stumbling.

When he saw her stumble and fall, Loki was quick to take advantage of the situation. He shot her with his rail gun, and this time, the bullet didn’t miss.

The bullet struck her squarely in the back and penetrated her body from the back to the front, where it struck the ground before her.
