Chapter 321: By The Lake.

Loki was sure that he would tell the truth if he were tortured some more or threatened with death because Serge didn’t want to die at all. Serge was willing to do anything to preserve his life, but Loki didn’t take advantage of it.

Loki would only torture Serge for random reasons, which made Skarg anxious. After a while, Serge offered to tell the whole truth as long as Loki signed a contract stating that his life would be spared.

But Loki only smiled. He didn’t sign the contract, and he didn’t force Serge to tell the truth. He continued to torture Serge until he had his fill of fun.

After he was done, he used the Memory Read Metac to scan Serge’s mind for everything he knew about Slav and their Skarg. But his search came up empty. Serge truly didn’t know where Skarg had taken Slav or why Slav could awaken the Core Metacs of the Luck Pathway, Time Pathway, and Space Pathway.

This made him curl his lips and say, “It seems he was telling the truth earlier. So it appears I have scrambled his mind for no reason.”

Then he spread his arms innocently and said, “How could I have known? It is not my fault for trying to be certain.”

Actually, he knew that earlier, when Serge had said he didn’t know where his father and brother went, it was the only moment of truth during the entire interrogation. But he still went ahead with searching Serge’s mind directly because he wanted to see how Serge would look with his mind scrambled.

It was truly a messy sight, both physically and mentally. Physically, Serge’s eyes had rolled up and were unable to focus on anything. He was also slumped over the chair, drooling from his mouth.

Mentally, the lake that represented his mind had become muddy and black. The lake isn’t clear anymore because the sand that makes up the bottom of the lake has been forced upwards to mix with the water of the lake during the process of forcefully extracting his memories.

Even the white fog above his head has become sparse, scattered, and contaminated with dust. All in all, his mind looked filthy, chaotic, and scrambled.

Loki nodded in satisfaction at the sight before turning to leave. He didn’t bother to kill Serge, as that would relieve him of the pain of a scrambled mind. He wanted Serge to suffer, so he left him alive.

On his way out, he thought to himself, ’Where did Skarg go, though? Could he have suspected that I would come for them for revenge?”

As he thought of this, he shook his head and said, ’That shouldn’t be so because if he truly was avoiding me, he would have left with all of his children, not just Slav. If he was afraid of me, he wouldn’t have left his two sons for me to play with like this.’

’Besides, Serge heard that Skarg took Slav because of the Core Metac that Slav awakened. So their excursion should have something to do with that Fortune Seeker Metac that Slav awakened.’

When he thought of that Core Metac of the Luck Pathway, he said to himself, ’I didn’t think there was anything special about that Fortune Seeker Metac when I saw it apart from the fact that it should be extinct. Maybe there is nothing special about it, and Skarg only took Slav to find Branch Metacs for the Luck Pathway. Either way, I must find out what the true reason is.’

’I must know where Skarg took Slav and why he took Slav there. Then I must search Slav’s mind for information. Only then will I leave them alone.’

He doubted that Slav knew much about the three extinct pathways since Slav was behaving cowardly as soon as he sensed Loki’s cultivation in the cultivation room. The reincarnated being that he was used to after Slav awakened his memories wouldn’t behave like that at all.

So he doubts that Slav has awakened his memories of his past life. But he still wants to search Slav’s mind to be sure.

However, as curious as he was, this is not something he plans to dedicate this whole timeline to. This is because he doesn’t know where they went, and he doesn’t know when they will be back.

He doesn’t plan to wait around when there is a heavenly battlefield for him to participate in. So after waiting for one more month without them appearing, he left Crystal City and went up into the sky.

After he got to Heavenly City, he went to get the other Metacs that he needed. This time, he also got the Branch Metacs of the Killing Pathway and the Strength Pathway in preparation for his two new pathways.

When he was done shopping for Metacs, he locked himself in his room, waiting for the Heavenly Battlefield to start.

Two weeks later, he found himself at the edge of a lake in the small world. This is where he appeared this time around. It is very different from the grass plains that he appeared in last time.

As he looked at the lake, he said to himself, ’The good thing is that I don’t need to dig a hiding spot. I can just hide at the bottom of the lake.”

Then his gaze shifted to the many manifestations rising up into the sky from various directions as he said to himself, ’The bad news is that I don’t intend to hide this time around. I intend to jump around and create a lot of ruckus.’

Then he chuckled and said, ’Of course, the bad news is for them. They are going to be in trouble if I keep jumping around. Things will only get worse if my plan works.’

After he got his bearings, he activated the Mind Network Metac and used it in conjunction with the Mind Spike Metac, Mind Node Metac, Mind Bomb Metac, and the Hypnotize Metac to take over the minds of animals in the surrounding area.
