THE GOD EATER

Chapter 275: Second Experiment.

Chapter 275: Second Experiment.

However, despite all of his success against the puppets and golems, he couldn’t get Yvette because she had hidden herself somewhere unknown. She was just controlling her puppets from afar, so he couldn’t track her.

No one knew where Yvette was hiding in the whole city. Rusty thought that he knew, but after Loki used what he knew to search for her, he still failed to find her.

After spending more than two hours searching and failing to find her, he gave up on her. So even though Yvette was weaker than he was, she still managed to escape from him.

His decision to let her go was good news for Yvette, but this was bad news for the rank 4 Mind Hunters in the city. This was because instead of hunting just one rank 4 Mind Hunter after he had eaten Yvette’s energy well, he now needed to hunt two rank 4 Mind Hunters to make up for Yvette’s escape.

But Loki didn’t care that two rank 4 Mind Hunters would have to give up their lives to help him, and he didn’t mind it at all. In fact, he was looking forward to it because it would give him the opportunity to use the Mind Freeze Metac against worthy and strong targets.

The result of his experiment this time with the Mind Freeze Metac was even better than the one with the Space Tear Metac because it made the fight with the Mind Hunters quiet and easy.

After he froze the minds of the Mind Hunters, they stood there and let him kill them. So there was no noise or destruction of the environment during the fight.

Since he didn’t attract any attention during the fight, he didn’t have to pay any crime tax to the police, and he didn’t have to take the Mind Hunters out of the city to kill them.

Once he froze their minds, their body would also freeze, so they wouldn’t resist when he went up to them to slit their throats. This made him say that the fight was as easy as taking a candy from a baby.

In fact, no one knew that he had killed the two Mind Hunters, which was a good thing, as the death of so many rank 4 cultivators in one day by one person would have caused the whole city to panic.

But he used a different identity for each kill and attracted no attention during his last kill. So people were only aware of the death of Rusty and the fight with Yvette. They didn’t know that the person responsible for these two things was the same person.

They also didn’t know that Loki, who happens to be the reincarnation of a rank 5 being, was the one who killed Rusty and that he was the one causing trouble all around the city. If they knew, this would have attracted more attention and caused more panic.

After having his fill of rank 4 forgers, he then began his trip to Earthly Battlefield E6-137. This trip took him 6 days to complete. 3 out of the 6 days were spent on the road, and another 3 days were spent waiting for the train to take him into the small world.

Eventually, he was able to meet Amelia. He wasn’t the only one who gained the privilege, though. There were many recruits with him who had been accepted to Earthly Battlefield E6-137 and were meeting the superior commander together.

Amelia had also arrived with some captains who were in need of recruits. Greg was one of these captains because the recruits he gained just a month ago were all killed on the way to their post because of the ambush of the Martial Body Sect.

As usual, Amelia spoke to them first. Then she made Greg conduct a question-and-answer session.

While the question and answer session was going on, Amelia was watching everyone’s reaction and using it to determine where they should be placed. Or at least, that’s what she intended to do.

She couldn’t do this because her attention was fixated on Loki. Her eyes were on him because she could sense danger from him.

To be exact, it was the large armored bear that she was riding that could sense immense danger from him. The bear was so frightened by his presence that it was quaking in fear beneath her.

This made her furrow her brows in thought. She thought to herself, “If he is so powerful, why is he here? What can this small world provide to him? Is he here just to hide, or is he here for my position?”

She had these thoughts and many more on her mind throughout the question and answer session, so she didn’t have time to spare to pay attention to the reactions of the new recruits.

While she was absent-minded, the question and answer quickly devolved into an arguing session. Then things got worse and were about to escalate into an all-out brawl. So Amelia had to step up to interrupt the fight.

She stopped the fight before it began with a few words. Then she distributed the new recruits into different posts based on what she saw of their behavior when the fight was about to start.

She distributed everyone except for Loki. After everyone had been given a post, she said to Loki, “You will follow me.”

The captains were confused by this arrangement, but they didn’t question it at all. They took their recruits and left with them. This left Amelia and Loki as the only ones still standing there.

With everyone gone, she could finally ask the burning questions that had been simmering within her ever since she noticed Loki’s danger to her bear.

She said, “What are you doing here?”

Loki looked her straight in the eyes and said, “I am here for you.”

She wasn’t surprised to hear this, as she had guessed something similar just earlier. But hearing it and confirming that this powerful being was coming for her caused her body to tense up in response.
