THE GOD EATER

Chapter 1123: The Source Of The Problem.

Having discovered where the problem was, he got to work. This time, he didn’t use any Divine Metac as the basis for the final product. Instead, he used a mental image of the final product as its foundation.

Actually, this was how almost every Supreme Metac he knew was made. None of the rank 8 cultivators he knew who successfully created a Supreme Metac used a Divine Metac as the template.

No one had mentioned using a template to him either. Not Heavenly Eye or Golden Sun during the times he questioned them.

He had only learned to use a template independently when he used rank 8 Fenrir to create the rank 9 version. Then he confirmed its effectiveness when he used the template of the incomprehensible material to create the 4-D prototype.

"Since no one else is using it, maybe this is how Supreme Metacs were supposed to be made," he said as he smashed eight rank 8 Supreme Metacs together.

As he began extracting the commonality, he said, "It doesn’t mean that using a template is wrong, though. After all, I have used it to successfully create two different Supreme Metacs."

"So it should be that I am missing something that makes this template method incomplete. Maybe there is something about it that the rules of the universe don’t like," he said as he began building the three-dimensional structure of the final product.

The reasoning for why creating a Supreme Metac without a template was better seemed sound. Unfortunately, he still failed.

This time the collapse happened much earlier. Just as he used the 7th commonality to hold up the three-dimensional structure, the entire thing fell apart.

What was worse was that the incomplete Supreme Metac fell apart on its own. Nothing from the universe pressed down on how work and crushed it. What he was building simply couldn’t stand on its own.

"This has to be a fluke," he said as he started another attempt.

With the determination to see god even if he had to do so just to get his way, he tried to make another Supreme Metac. He was unwilling to admit defeat so easily, so he tried to create the same Intangible Supreme Metac again.

He was even more careful, spending an hour on each move. But it still failed. It collapsed at the 7th commonality like before.

He switched to trying to create the Invisible Supreme Metac. This one failed too.

Then he switched to the Time Rewind Supreme Metac. He didn’t use the Rewind Metac as the template like the two previous failures, but against all odds, he succeeded in making it.

He also succeeded when he tried to create the Devouring Supreme Metac without any template. But whenever he tried to upgrade the Hunting Form Ability and Seal Ability of the Divine Metacs in the Devouring Pathway into a Supreme Metac without a template, he always failed.

All of his failures occurred at exactly the 7th commonality. This was the only reliable and consistent thing throughout his numerous attempts.

However, whenever he reattempted to create the Supreme Metacs with a template, he managed to reach the final commonality before the incomplete product collapsed.

This made him laugh in mockery of himself and say, "So the template was never the problem. In fact, the template was helping me all along."

"I was always the problem. I just didn’t know it."

At this point, he had come to realize that the problem was that the rules he was using to try to create the Supreme Metacs were wrong right from the start.

Whether he liked it or not, after so many attempts, he had to admit that he couldn’t blame the template or the type of commonality he used. He could only blame his skills.

"Why did the Time Rewind Metac succeed, though?" he asked in genuine confusion.

"Clearly, I got the rules for the Time Rewind Metac correctly. How did I do that?"

"Is it because I am familiar with it and use it a lot? But if that’s true, what about the Power Identification Ability? I use that a lot too. In fact, it has become my instinct."

It is now a fact that he wasn’t good enough to create those Supreme Metacs that failed. After thinking about it, he came to accept it since it was reasonable.

He remembered how Tepid Scholar had once told him how difficult it was for Dao Lords to create Supreme Metacs, so he felt that it was reasonable that he couldn’t create just about any Supreme Metac.

However, before he could let go of this obsession, he had to figure out which Divine Metac or Divine Ability had met the requirements to be converted into a Supreme Metac like the Time Rewind Supreme Metac.

So he refused to quit just yet. Instead, he created the Power Identification Ability with the Metac Creation Ability and began working on converting it into a Supreme Metac.

After his numerous attempts, he knew that without a template, he would fail at the 7th commonality. So he used the Power Identification Ability as a template for the update.

Unfortunately, he still failed, and the failure was at the 19th commonality, which was consistent. In light of this, he decided to create a Grand Dao instead.

Since creating a Cosmic Dao was beyond him, he decided to upgrade the Power Identification Ability into a Grand Dao. And he decided to use a template too.

A Grand Dao needed 15 commonality to form, not 19. Since the template could carry him all the way to the 19th commonality, he was hoping that the template would be able to help him complete something smaller.

But even this didn’t work. The collapse happened on the 15th commonality, and the Power Identification Ability failed to be upgraded.

He didn’t stop here, though. He had made up his mind to try to upgrade every Divine Ability under the Devouring Pathway to a Grand Dao at least once before giving up. So after the Power Identification Ability failed, he picked the next Divine Ability he was familiar with.
