In their hatched state, the lytons would become white tadpoles capable of living in the air, water, and in the ground. They were also capable of living in extremes of temperature such as glacial areas, volcanic areas, and down at the depth of the sea under intense pressure.

They could survive and thrive in practically any world they find themselves in. They were also docile grazers that feed on ambient energy in worlds.

Even a world without free life energy for living things to use will have a sun producing light. The light energy is good enough for them to feed on and grow.

The introduction of the lytons introduced a new source of food for every living thing in the Sea of Worlds. By serving as a source of food at the bottom of the food chain, lytons inject energy into the world, helping everything to grow and causing the population to soar.

In a way, they have become an alternative source of energy similar to plants. They are not animals either.

But what’s most peculiar is that the lytons, despite being docile and not needing to eat anything, will eat each other. As they eat each other, they get bigger, evolve, and become more valuable sources of food for every creature on the food chain, including the apex predators.

As they grow, lytons go from being tiny floating tadpoles that serve as food for tiny creatures like ants, to becoming food for rats, and then becoming food for lions. The bigger they get, the more their predators increase in size and number.

Despite this daunting situation, some lytons will survive long enough to ascend to the upper realms. When this happens, the lyton would become a mature member of the lyton race capable of producing eggs that can be used to seed worlds.

This is how the Lyton race produces offspring. Since their mode of reproduction doesn’t contradict the mode of reproduction of the Gemini race and even helps the reproduction of the Gemini race by providing food, the Gemini race decided to cooperate with them and invite them into the Sea of Worlds.

This was also why the Gaia people of the third ship, who need to spend time gestating in a world state, were invited.
