Chapter 108: Chapter 37: [Witch Gold, Nether Copper, and Ace Tactician]

"You baffling Copper Knight, I must dispose of you first..." Musa roared.

In the midst of his war dance, he suddenly spun into a handstand. Pushing off the ground with his strong arms, he launched into a flying kick, his boots planting firmly against Samael’s neck and chest. The sheer force of the kick sent Samael stumbling backward. At the same time, the massive impact to his neck sent his helmet flying backward, revealing nothing but empty void inside.

"What..." Musa froze, the movement of the Witch Gold Scimitar in his right hand slowing slightly.

At that critical moment, Talia lunged to catch Samael’s backward-flying helmet. Taking advantage of Musa’s stunned distraction, she slammed Samael’s Nether Copper Helmet down over Musa’s head with a motion like shooting a basketball!

Freezing darkness instantly engulfed Musa. The chill seeped into his skull, spreading madly down his spine. The joints in his neck, shoulders, and back began to feel numb and rusted, much like rigor mortis! Affected by this stiffness in his joints, he suddenly found himself unable to execute the evasive maneuvers of his war dance.

Caught off guard, he tried to rip the helmet off, but Samael’s headless body drove a sword straight through his chest.

Samael’s vision now overlapped with Musa’s location. Controlling his headless body, he unleashed another [Precise Combo], landing over a dozen sword strikes accurately on Musa’s chest in quick succession.

Talia raised the Magic Fire Hammer Spear and leaped into the air, bringing it down viciously against Musa’s chest! Musa was sent flying backward, blood spraying wildly as he smashed into the ground, kicking up a cloud of dust.

An attack of that caliber wouldn’t be enough to kill him! Panting, Talia rushed forward alongside Samael’s headless body, intending to take the opportunity to land a few more blows on the downed Musa.

CLANG!

Samael’s headless body suddenly thrust an arm out to stop her. "Don’t come any closer! Get back!" his voice rang out from the helmet on Musa’s head.

Musa’s throat, covered in crimson scales, suddenly began to glow. A faint firelight shone through his skin, illuminating his scales and flesh until they were semi-transparent. It looked as if a ball of fire was traveling up his throat, and then—

WHOOSH!

Violent, cyan-white Demon Fire spewed from his throat, erupting through the gaps of Samael’s Nether Copper Helmet and igniting the sparse wheat stalks in front of them.

Had Samael not warned her, that blast of flame would have perfectly engulfed where they had just been standing.

[Polarized Gland (and affiliated heat-resistant structures) uses biochemical Spiritual Energy structures to process stomach acid through ionized phase transformation, generating a mixed gas cloud of high-temperature ionized plasma and combustible gas that violently combusts upon contact with oxygen. "An Ancient Ghost Knight!" Having broken free from the cold Undead aura’s influence, Musa reached up, yanked off the Nether Copper Helmet, and roared as he smashed it fiercely to the side. "Is this your secret weapon, Ronov? This is completely pointless!"

Nether Copper Weapons could cause temporary sluggishness and joint numbness in those they pierced, but they could not stop wounds from healing. Under the influence of the Demon Race’s powerful regenerative abilities, the Nether Copper Sword wounds on Musa’s chest quickly began to close.

CRACK!

The Inverted Hook Whip lashed out, wrapping around the sword-bearing arm of Samael’s headless body, followed immediately by a heavy smash! Caught completely off guard, Samael’s headless body had its arm firmly bound by the whip. The immense dragging force ripped the Nether Copper Knight Sword right out of his grasp!

At the same time, the sluggish Red Shell Beetle Guard Demonizer finally caught up with its flamethrower strapped to its back, pulling the trigger at the two of them.

Talia raised her Hammer Spear and ruthlessly struck at the Red Shell Beetle Guard Demonizer. Its pitch-black exoskeleton instantly flashed a fleshy, bloody red. With a tremor through its shell, the carapace remained entirely unscathed, while the Hammer Spear was violently deflected back.

[Biological Structure Detected: Reverse-Pump Carapace]

[Reverse-Pump Carapace (and affiliated pressure-release cavities) consists of blood-engorged hydraulic muscle groups spread beneath a hard outer shell. When the surface of the carapace suffers an external impact, the blood in the hydraulic muscles is pumped into tough, highly elastic pressure-buffering cavities to absorb the force. Once the external force dissipates, blood pressure pumps in reverse back into the hydraulic muscle groups, creating a powerful rebound shockwave. Can be used for biological buffering materials, slow descent landings for spacecraft, and energy-storing takeoffs.]

"Let’s go!" Talia barely dodged the flames. She quickly untangled the whip wrapped around Samael’s arm, supported his headless body, and beat a hasty retreat, sprinting madly into the abandoned barn behind them.

"Kill them!" Musa roared. Without time to sharpen his Witch Gold Blade again, he and the Red Shell Beetle Guard followed closely on their heels, charging into the abandoned barn.

Inside the barn, it was pitch black. Logically, a barn that had been abandoned for so long should be entirely empty, but for some unknown reason, it appeared to be piled high with large quantities of cargo.

It was some kind of soft and dry goods. Their color and silhouette could vaguely be made out in the darkness—they seemed to be white, tied up with thick hemp ropes.

Musa and the Red Shell Beetle Guard Demonizer navigated through the piles of cargo, searching for any sign of the two, when they suddenly heard a soft noise from the door behind them.

The barn door had been shut!

Samael and Talia hadn’t gone deeper into the barn to hide at all! As soon as they entered, they had quietly huddled behind the door panels. Waiting until Musa and the Red Shell Beetle Guard Demonizer went further inside, they had immediately slipped out of the barn and closed the main doors!
