Chapter 433: Axel’s Visit

  • Next Chapter

"Are we really going to do this, young master?" A butler asked, looking at the young master he served. As a butler of the Aheron family, he couldn’t help but become worried when it came to dealing with other top families.

It could go bad, and their family would suffer. In fact, the Aheron family was the only family among the top ten who had only one Rank 6 human.

However, they were the wealthiest. They usually crushed their enemies with their wealth, so no one dared to underestimate the Aheron family.

If the Aheron family dealt with something, it would definitely be because of money.

That was why the Aheron family was quite trustworthy in the business community. At the very least, they didn’t dare to stab others in the back because they lacked the power, but if they came with a proposal, it would definitely mean there was money to be made.

If the Aheron family was threatened, that money could be used to make life miserable for a lot of people.

Axel, who was once treated by Auric, nodded with a serious expression. "I’ve gotten permission from my grandfather. It’ll be all right. Besides, this is a good opportunity to make Auric owe us."

"I apologize if this sounds rude to you, young master. However, I just can’t wrap my head around why Auric Elfe is considered so worthy."

Axel chuckled. "You just don’t understand."

"..." The butler wanted some explanations as to why Auric was worthy of this kind of risk.

However, Axel simply increased his pace.

Two middle-aged men and two young men along with their secretaries stood in front of a building.

"Isn’t this young master Axel? It’s a pleasure to meet you." One of the middle-aged men came forward and extended his hand.

Axel shook their hands with a big smile on his face. "You must be the second son of Mr. Grey, Mr. Tim. And this gentleman here must be from the Delimore family, Mr. John. It’s a pleasure to meet you both. I’ve heard about your greatness in the business."

"Hoho..." Tim nodded with a satisfied expression. "This is my son, Carl."

"It’s a pleasure to meet you, Carl."

Not wanting to be outdone, John was also introducing his son. "This is my son, William. Since both of you are at the same age, I’m sure there are plenty of things you can talk about."

"Hi, William."

There was a reason for these people to introduce their sons without showing any discontent with the fact that the Aheron family only sent Axel.

While it was true that Axel’s talent in combat was nothing compared to the geniuses in his generation, his business talent was comparable to Ellia Stroph Astler.

Besides, his grandfather was a Rank 6, while his father was a Rank 5. They might have grown old, but they could still live for a long time, so Axel wasn’t in a hurry. They could still have a talented child with Axel and train him or her to become a Rank 6 human.

That was why they weren’t too worried about the family’s continuation.

"I’ve heard about your current joint operation. It does look like you are trying to strike gold." Axel smiled.

After introducing himself, Axel went straight to business.

Tim nodded. "That’s correct. This is a joint business of our two families."

"May I take a look?" Axel asked.

"Of course. This way."

They nodded and started guiding Axel to the facility.

"I heard this place used to be an apartment complex..." Axel looked around. Not a single building was in sight. What remained was just rubble that hadn’t been cleared.

However, he could see that they didn’t clear them because they didn’t want to get rid of the natural barrier that would prevent anyone from looking inside.

After all, the moment they entered the premises, Axel could see that the inside had been cleaned properly. A big facility had been built.

"Oh! Is this the rumored..." Axel looked down, impressed.

They actually dug up the ground, making it look like a small gold mine. Everything was visible from above, but there were still channels underground.

"Yes. This is the facility that digs up the various remains of the ruins. What we’re aiming for is to excavate everything the ruins have."

"Won’t it be a problem? I mean, I know that this place has collapsed and produced an elemental turbulence. Doesn’t that mean the energy has dispersed? There’s not enough energy to create artifacts."

"That may be true, but..." Tim raised his finger. "If you dig down, you will find out that the energy density is increasing."

"Really?" Axel raised his eyebrows in disbelief.

"Yes. We believe that the ruins are actually like a funnel. When things go right, the energy will flow up and fill the funnel. What if the top part of the funnel is broken?"

Axel thought for a moment. "The energy will be drained to the bottom?"

"Not at all. Just think of it like a cone on the road. If the top part collapses while water is filling it from below, it will continue to spurt out. However, what if we seal the hole entirely?"

"!!!" Axel widened his eyes. "Are you trying to create artificial ruins?"

Tim smiled.

Axel crossed his arms and contemplated. "I see. You dig up the ground to get to the source and seal everything perfectly. This way, your facility might become the new ruins. At that time, your families will be the first ones to exploit this place, generating artifacts at an unprecedented rate. After all, if you can control what’s inside the ruins, you can control which items will become the next artifacts..."

"I’ve long heard about the brilliance of the Aheron family’s scion. I can only sing your praises."

"Haha, you’re exaggerating." Axel waved his hand before pointing down. "Can we..."

"Of course. This way."

Tim led them down. Axel could see the facility clearly. Many people were working on it. Most of them were researchers who were trying to figure out the secret of the ruins.

Unfortunately, Tim first led Axel to a waiting room.

"I’m sorry, but I’d like you to please wait here. We’ll ask the chief researcher here to guide you around."

Tim and John were trying to leave not because they didn’t want to continue, but because this was a precious opportunity for their sons to get to know Axel.

If they knew Axel and got support from him, their status would increase drastically. After all, everyone understood what it meant to be recognized by a scion whose business talent surpassed even his grandfather, who brought the family to become one of the top ten families in Esfrata.

They wanted their sons to become Axel’s friends for one reason. It wasn’t that they didn’t have daughters. However, they had heard that many people had tried to offer their daughters to Axel, but such a honey trap would only displease him.

So, they proceeded with their sons.

Unfortunately for them, their sons were no different.

Unlike Axel, who focused on his own talent and future, their sons were just spoiled children.

As soon as their parents left, they remembered what their fathers had told them. They needed to talk with Axel and become his friends.

And what could they talk about other than their own experience?

For spoiled children like them, there was one thing that could easily connect them.

"Hey, do you want to come with me tonight? There is a party with a lot of other people, especially actresses."

"Right? I thought the party would be canceled because of this, but we could actually go there together."

Both Carl and William immediately came to him in sync.

Axel wanted to roll his eyes. While he had attended such parties a few times, he was never addicted to it.

He remained focused on his strength and business, but this time, Axel came because of Auric.

And he knew perfectly what he needed to do to create the situation that would benefit Auric.

"Really?" Axel acted like they were on the same wavelength.

"It’s real. Look, these are the people who will be joining us today." Carl showed pictures to Axel.

"Wow?" Axel looked surprised. "When is it?"

"We can gather at the usual bar at seven. You know what? I’m going to pick you up."

"That sounds fine to me." Axel nodded calmly. "Let’s wrap it up quickly with this job and enjoy the rest of the day."

"Hahaha. You are great. I know you will understand us."

Axel felt like slapping these two on behalf of their fathers, but they were still useful to him, so he spared them.

’It’s unfortunate for them, but I’ll use them to ruin their fathers,’ thought Axel.

Axel adjusted his plan slightly. After thirty minutes, Tim and John returned to the room with the chief researcher.

Axel wasn’t interested in this facility, but it was indeed quite tempting from a business perspective.

However, even though they had spent time and resources on it, there was still no breakthrough that would lead to the creation of the ruins.

Auric had promised to tell him whether the business would work out, so he would make his business decision later. Besides, Auric didn’t intend to destroy this facility. He just wanted to take a look as though he was searching for something.

If Auric really believed that this was a good business, Auric would leave, so Axel could agree to the deal.

Of course, they had to pass Arnie’s inspection as well.

If they didn’t pass, it just meant that Axel should leave and deny his involvement. Since people thought he came for the money, no one would suspect him.

In other words, it would be a safe operation. It didn’t matter if the cooperation was established or not. He would still win.
