Chapter 422: Treating Supervisor Jacob

  • Next Chapter

“Huuu…” Auric took a deep breath, looking at the result in front of him. Even though he tried his best, only a third of the room transformed into a building block. ‘I really don’t have the mastery to do this yet, so I’m not going to try.’

Lindwurm nodded. “If that’s your decision. You really should start training that ability.”

‘I know.’

Auric turned back to the woman and grabbed her right foot again. This time, he released his gray energy.

The chaos element started breaking down the element from the outside.

However, he noticed something. Even the chaos element couldn’t break down the elemental fusion.

‘Hmm. Is this the limit of the chaos element?’

“Most likely, but it’s not a problem for the treatment.”

‘I know. It can still break down the energy so that I can expel it from this woman’s body, but I really can’t do anything to break down the fused element. Will it remain like that after I expel this energy?’

Auric tried to cut off the energy and isolated it before sweeping it away. The process itself took a few minutes per small chunk, so he knew that this treatment would last for a few hours. This would be the first time he had spent a few hours treating the problem in one go, rather than using gradual treatment like he had with Supervisor Jacob.

When the energy came out, he observed it carefully and realized that the energy remained in its fused form.

‘That’s weird. What will happen to that energy?’ Auric kept following the energy, but it showed no sign of improvement.

“Most likely, it will break down with time. If not, then the world will probably absorb it and handle the rest.” Lindwurm speculated.

‘If it’s the former, it means that exposure to all elements in the air is also a possible solution.’

“Exactly, but we don’t know yet.” Lindwurm nodded. “I will keep track of it for now. So, you need to focus on the treatment.”

‘Got it.’ Auric carefully removed a small chunk of the energy at a time. If he spread his power too much, it would be too weak to handle this problem.

So, he had no choice but to spend a lot of time fixing her body.

Arnie was a little worried.

“I have never seen him take this long.” Maya frowned. “The longest one to date was 15 minutes.”

“It’s already been half an hour, and there’s still no sign of him finishing the job.” Supervisor Jacob crossed his arms. “Did he collapse or something?”

“I don’t think so. We can’t feel the energy from here, but I definitely sense his presence inside. He’s still standing.” Arnie shook his head.

“I guess we can only wait.” Supervisor Jacob nodded in understanding. “And it also means that harder problems require more time.”

“No shit.” Arnie was baffled why Supervisor Jacob even said such an obvious thing.

“Your view about evolution masters has definitely gotten distorted. Must be because of my students.” Maya scoffed.

“…” Supervisor Jacob’s face darkened. He couldn’t refute that.

Auric continued the treatment for over three hours before he came out of the room, covered in sweat.

“Huu…” Auric let out a long sigh. “That was hard.”

“Well, yeah. It took you more than three hours.” Maya nodded and showed the water bottle to Supervisor Jacob, who in turn, chilled it and handed it to Auric.

After taking a sip, Auric explained, “I’ve treated her. All that is left is for her to get a healer to take care of the physical problems.”

“How did you treat her?” Arnie asked.

“I will write a paper about it later.” Auric nodded.

“I almost forgot you are also a researcher.” Arnie snapped his fingers, remembering the time Auric appeared at the academic conference. “I guess it’s good to add another achievement as a researcher.”

“Yeah, not really.” Auric shrugged. He didn’t plan to write that paper to add to his achievements. He just wanted to use that paper as a key to enter the collapsed ruins and whatever place it would lead him next. He was sure that showing that paper would give him permission from the authorities.

“Look, don’t blame me if it still doesn’t work, okay?” Auric waved his hands, warning Arnie.

“Don’t worry. You’ve done your best. I’ll do the rest.”

“All right.” Auric waved his hand, gesturing for Arnie to take her away.

“So, it’s my turn now?” Supervisor Jacob asked for confirmation.

“Yeah. I want to test how much my power will affect you, so I can determine how long the treatment will take.”

“That sounds good.” For Supervisor Jacob, this was also a good opportunity to monitor Auric. His presence here would prevent anyone from approaching Auric, which meant he would be protecting the national interest while receiving treatment.

Auric, on the other hand, had his focus elsewhere. ‘Now that I think about it, what will happen if I upgrade the store again, Lindwurm? Will I get another facility or something?’

“Definitely. In fact, you won’t just get a facility. You can customize what you actually want. That includes tracking almost everything that happens in this store, from sales to inventory.”

‘Well, I will still have you as the manager, so I’m not that interested in the second one. As for the first one, what kind of customization are you talking about?’

“Anything. Do you want a specific condition for your room, or anything else, such as a special pressurized chamber?’

‘Do you mean I can ask you to break down the energy or fill that room with a certain element?’

“Exactly.”

‘That is quite useful. So, the cost…’

“As usual. Add another zero.”

‘Five million credits per day. You’re definitely robbing me.’

“More features mean higher maintenance costs.” Lindwurm shrugged.

Auric just rolled his eyes while turning around. He opened the door as if he was checking the energy within the room before nodding to Supervisor Jacob. “We’re ready now.”

“In that case, I will take my leave right now. I need to arrange the hospital bed and the healer for her.” Arnie nodded. “Ah, I almost forgot. How much for the treatment? You’re not going to overcharge me, right?”

“Well, the severity of the problem…” Auric sighed.

Arnie understood it very well. No one in this world would be able to solve this problem other than Auric.

“Okay. Treat it as a favor. As long as it doesn’t break any laws, I can help you with that.”

“Got it. Thank you for your patronage.” Auric smiled.

“Has anyone ever told you that you are the spitting image of your teacher? So annoying!”

“I learn from the best.”

“That’s not a compliment.” Arnie sighed.

Auric and Maya looked at each other and gave a thumbs-up, saying the same thing, “And we consider it a compliment.”

“You know what? I should leave right now before I have a heart attack.” Arnie took a deep breath, forcefully calming himself down.

“Bye!” Maya waved her hand cheerfully.

Supervisor Jacob was just laughing while entering the treatment chamber.

Auric waved to his teacher first before following Supervisor Jacob to the treatment chamber.

Auric checked his condition again and simply snapped his fingers. “All right. Let’s do this in a simple way. Turn around and close your eyes. Concentrate!”

“Yes, sir.” Supervisor Jacob answered playfully and turned around, his back facing Auric.

Auric then said, “There are seven spots where the energy has accumulated. For now, I will try to break them down one by one. I don’t know how effective my power will be, so we’ll see. Due to the power difference between us, I will need you to cooperate with the treatment, so I need you to focus.”

“Got it. What should I do?”

“First, I will try to break down the energy. You focus on that part and try helping me flush it out. Just channel your energy into the one that has broken away from the accumulated energy.”

“I’ve tried to do that, but my energy simply loops around the accumulated energy. It can’t pass through those areas.”

“Yeah. You can think of it as a pudding. Blasting wind at the pudding won’t push it back, but if you target just a small part of it, that part has a better chance of getting pushed. Since it has accumulated for so long, it will be quite sticky, so I need to constantly apply my power to keep it separated while counteracting your energy. Don’t crush mine.”

“I will do my best.” Supervisor Jacob nodded with a serious expression.

“Let’s start with this spot.” Auric channeled his power into one area. “Can you feel my power?”

“Yes.”

“All right. I will try to pull it as hard as possible, so try to channel your energy. You need to control it so that it will be hard enough to push it away while being gentle enough not to crush my power.”

Auric started the treatment, but as he expected, treating Supervisor Jacob’s condition was extremely hard. Supervisor Jacob could control his strength, but it was hard to get the desirable outcome.

Auric ended up having to use even more energy to make sure he didn’t get crushed by Supervisor Jacob’s energy. At the same time, he had to exert more energy to overcome the stickiness.

It was truly hell and took a lot of time.

In the end, the treatment took a few hours with Auric coming out drenched.

“Haa…” Auric let out a long sigh, exhausted.

“Waow.” Supervisor Jacob stretched his body. “It’s small, but I can notice the improvement.”

“I have spent a considerable amount of energy treating that woman, so I should be able to last longer every day. Judging from our result today, I will probably need one week to break down one part. That means you will be cured in two months.” Auric didn’t plan to go all out because he still needed Supervisor Jacob to stay until Stella returned.

“Two months? If one spot needs one week and I have seven spots, shouldn’t it take just seven weeks? Are you sure you were the top scorer in high school?”

“What are you talking about? Those seven spots are a problem, but I still need to fix the flow of your energy that has been messed up by the accumulated energy.” Auric shook his head helplessly.

“Oh!”

“You don’t question the master! Just accept the treatment.” Maya glared at Supervisor Jacob.

“Okay, okay!” Supervisor Jacob admitted defeat.

“You should rent an apartment or something since you’re going to stay here for some time.” Auric nodded to him.

Maya also nodded, gesturing for him to understand the code and leave.

“Oh! Okay! I certainly need to get a room for two months.” Supervisor Jacob hurriedly left, not wanting to be bullied by the pair of teacher and student like Arnie.

“I believe you want to tell me something,” said Maya after the door was closed.

“I do. And it’s quite important because I might need your help, and it will take a long time.”

“Should I quit being a vice dean?”
