Chapter 383: Ellia vs Clarice

"The repair has been finished. Anyone else would like to have a duel?" The referee asked.

Before anyone could react, Clarice had jumped onto the stage while Ellia teleported in front of her.

"!!!" The referee was startled. It turned out there were two energetic young ladies who had chosen to fight after that battle.

"I believe you want to challenge me," said Clarice gracefully.

"Considering our position in the competition, I should be the one to say that." Ellia smiled coldly.

Both of them just looked at each other for a few seconds, knowing that they were the same type of people. They could keep throwing sarcastic remarks at each other, and no one would back down for a few hours.

Still, it was true that both of them wanted to fight each other. They just didn’t want to lower themselves.

Ellia knew about Auric’s intention, so she extended her hand first.

Clarice had been warned about the alliance, so she understood the gesture. She shook Ellia’s hand firmly, as if saying that no matter what happened in this match, there would be no grudge between them.

Ellia nodded in agreement. "Let’s have a fair fight."

"Agreed." Clarice nodded. "Well, now that Auric Elfe has shown his power, he will probably receive marriage offers. Maybe I will end up defeating you and winning his heart? It doesn’t sound like a bad idea."

Ellia’s eyebrows twitched. Clarice didn’t personally care who she would marry as long as it was someone among her peers who had no bad habits or bad character.

Auric suited her criteria, but she certainly didn’t say this because she was interested in Auric. Rather, she said those words simply because she knew Ellia was quite interested in Auric. In other words, it was her mind game.

Ellia just chuckled. "Certainly. It’s just... you probably won’t be chosen because of two small reasons..."

Ellia just lowered her gaze slightly, indicating the two small reasons.

Clarice’s eyes turned cold. "I am not an airport!"

"True. There’s nothing to be announced." Ellia smiled.

Clarice clenched her hand, trying to crush Ellia’s hand. "I know we really can’t get along."

"The feeling is mutual." Ellia tried the same thing.

"..." The referee just looked away, acting as if he didn’t hear anything. ’University students are scary nowadays. I guess being popular has its own demerits."

Ellia and Clarice harrumphed and walked away from each other.

They released their energy at the same time, showing that they were ready to fight.

The referee coughed to calm down and raised his hand. "The match between Ellia Stroph Astler and Clarice Estella officially begins."

As soon as the referee announced it, Ellia and Clarice leaped toward each other.

Clang!

Their blades clashed at full power as their energies tried to overwhelm the other. A small shock wave shook the arena, but none of them was getting pushed back.

Clarice took a step back and slightly adjusted the angle of her sword so she could continue her strong down swing.

At the same time, Ellia slightly tilted her body not only to gain momentum but also to shift her body to the right, allowing her to gain enough power to complete her horizontal swing.

As a result, Clarice’s downswing was completed. The sword strike ran through the ground and smashed into the wall.

However, Clarice had to roll back her body and tilt her head back as though she were avoiding Ellia’s strike.

Ellia’s sword strike ended up missing her and hit the wall in the opposite direction.

Both of them immediately stepped forward and swung their blades at the same time. In every clash, their energy hit each other, but neither of them backed down.

Their sword strikes immediately covered the arena as each swing was meant to defeat the other.

The clicking sound from the two blades continued as they exchanged more than a hundred blows in just two minutes, but neither of them got an advantage.

The spectators definitely had the same opinion. They believed that Ellia and Clarice had the same level of swordsmanship.

However, Clarice had an overwhelming light element, while Ellia had a mysterious space element. Both of them had yet to reveal their cards.

If they continued like this, they wouldn’t be able to determine the winner in a short amount of time.

Hence, both of them came to a tacit understanding. They decided to stop testing each other.

Their energies spiked at the same time.

Clarice took a firm step and swung her sword. This was a challenge for Ellia. If Ellia chose to avoid this, it would mean Ellia was scared of her power.

The powerful sword strike tore through the ground, containing a power not far from the sword that took down Vera.

Ellia took a deep breath and swung her blade horizontally.

First Cataclysm.

The sword strike split the world in two, but it had another trick. It contained an overwhelming energy that caused the light to burst, forcing the distorted space to stop moving forward. In the end, the First Cataclysm failed to go past this sword strike.

Then Ellia used her teleportation to appear behind Clarice and swung her sword, splitting it many times.

Clarice shouldn’t have enough time to turn her body around, but she actually did something unthinkable.

She swung her sword downward, but she made sure it didn’t hit the ground.

When her hand reached the maximum angle, she slightly tossed her sword up. This way, her sword would hover behind her back for a second.

In the meantime, she rotated her arm the other way around, reaching the sword handle that had just passed her shoulder. She got another firm grip and actually struck the incoming sword strikes without even looking.

The viewers were stunned. This was the first time they had seen a battle between two swordsmanship that not only looked fancy but also at a very high level. Both of them were truly geniuses with the sword.

Clarice leaped into the air and turned around. She raised her sword and summoned many swords.

When she waved her sword down, all these light swords flew toward Ellia.

"Huuu..." Ellia took a deep breath and poured her power into the sword. She struck one sword and released a sword strike that passed through numerous swords before reaching Clarice.

Clarice had no choice but to block it with her sword, but Ellia didn’t stop there. She continued striking Clarice’s sword while sending forth a counterattack each time.

As a result, Clarice couldn’t use her power to launch another attack.

Ellia’s movement was swift and precise. Rather than facing many swords at once, she actually jumped toward the nearest sword and struck it before moving to another sword. This way, she ended up fighting with one sword multiple times rather than fighting multiple swords at once.

Both girls showed swordsmanship that far surpassed their level. There was a reason why Clarice was known as the most talented swordsman of the younger generation. Ellia would have the same title if not for her element.

Now that she wasn’t bothered with her element anymore, Ellia’s talent could finally be recognized, even though people still held prejudices against her.

Ellia and Clarice kept exchanging blow after blow.

In the end, the battle reached another stalemate.

"This is troublesome..." Clarice muttered, breathing heavily.

"Indeed." Ellia was panting. They could continue like this, but it would end with them exhausting their stamina. In the end, they would decide the battle with their stamina, not their swordsmanship. They didn’t want to end it this way, considering that the purpose of this challenge was to see who stood at the pinnacle of swordsmanship.

They could only think about one way to decide who was better. Just like how Vera and Clarice did it, they would settle it in one blow.

Clarice calmed her breath before raising her sword. The energy on her sword flared up into the sky.

Ellia spread her consciousness to the surroundings.

"!!!" Auric couldn’t help but stand up. This was the same thing that Vera used before.

Auric could see Ellia spreading her element to her sides, creating some sort of mirrors purely with her energy. These mirrors then flew forward and lined up in front of her. They were still rotating, making it look like Ellia was trying to spin the enemy’s energy.

The power alone was different, but Ellia was trying to fuse all these mirrors or line them up. Either way, she would need to use fusion.

Auric couldn’t help but sigh, muttering, ’You two... is it too much to ask for a bit of help?’

If he knew Ellia and Vera were actually learning his fusion technique, he wouldn’t mind helping them.

Katarina was probably the only one who ended up asking for some mentoring. Was it because they were too proud as swordsmen?

He didn’t know, but the outcome would be decided whether Ellia could unleash the perfect fusion.

"It looks like you are trying to do the same thing, but this is different!" Clarice said as her energy released a second burst. She planned to use more energy to counter the power Ellia would get from her fusion.

Clarice took a step forward and swung her sword down. "King Sword."

A massive burst of energy traveled on the ground. This energy was even stronger than the one that defeated Vera.

She, too, felt frustrated that she had underestimated Vera. She was afraid of losing because of her own pride, so she had been practicing with everything she got for the last few days.

Finally, she did it. With this kind of power, even if Vera unleashed the full power of her fusion, she still had the confidence in neutralizing it at last.

However, what she didn’t expect was that her sword energy started to spin the moment it entered Ellia’s domain. The mirror that could only be seen by a select few caused the powerful energy to spin as they entered the mirror.

It felt like Ellia was actually trying to help her opponent by increasing the penetration power of that attack by spinning it.

Ellia exhaled deeply. All of a sudden, the mirrors stopped moving and stood straight perfectly, one by one.

As soon as they stopped moving, the spinning energy stopped moving as well. That spin was originally increasing her opponent’s power, but when it abruptly stopped, the energy from the spin caused a confusion and dispersed to the surroundings, ultimately weakening her opponent’s attack.

Then Ellia’s eyes turned sharp as her body disappeared.

The next thing they realized, Ellia reappeared past Clarice.

"!!!" Clarice widened her eyes in shock, as she could feel clearly what happened to her sword strike.

Auric, with his special eyes, could clearly see all the mirrors were split into two alongside Clarice’s sword strike. All that tremendous force was amplified every time it traveled through a mirror.

After slashing Clarice’s sword strike, it gathered in one spot and came crashing down on Clarice.

"Third Cataclysm, Mirroring Universe."

All that energy hit Clarice at the same time, causing a massive shock wave that shook the arena.

Bam!
