Chapter 1409: Chapter 918: Tender Moments
Alyris’s office.
The door slid open silently.
A large white rat about a meter tall—Bobo—swaggered in.
The fluffy soft pure white fur shimmered with a soft glow under the indoor light, its round shape maintained the stance of a rodent, yet the overall silhouette appeared unusually gentle and cute.
A pair of large, round black eyes, seemingly soaked in clear water, rolled around, full of lively and mischievous sparkle.
It wore a tailored white mage robe, with delicate gold edges at the hem and cuffs, and pale purple flowing patterns winding like living creatures, emanating an extraordinary magic aura.
Beside the office desk.
The somewhat clumsy round alchemy puppet placed on it seemed to have triggered some mechanism, the indicator light on the sphere flashing urgently, screaming sharply:
"Lord Bobo has arrived! Lord Bobo has arrived!"
"Enough, what a lousy machine!"
Bobo disdainfully pursed her three-part mouth, her small nasal wings twitching, and looked at the round alchemy puppet on the table with dissatisfaction.
As she spoke, her short paw casually lifted, a nearly transparent mage’s hand formed purely of magic power took shape, ready to strike the other.
However, an invisible, gentle yet remarkably precise wave of power scattered from Alyris’s hand instantly.
With a soft "pop," the mage’s hand was precisely shattered.
"Clumsy mouse, don’t break it for me."
Alyris didn’t even look up, her tone carrying a hint of amused warning.
With her slender fingers elegantly waved, the alchemy puppet seemed to have been pressed silent; it immediately shut its mouth.
The spherical body slightly shook, and then completely quieted down, leaving only the indicator light’s rhythmic soft breath glow.
Watching the scene, Bobo crossed her arms, disdainfully pouting, her long white tail impatiently flicking behind her, slapping against the floor.
"Hah, such an antique, and you keep it on your table like a treasure,"
She drawled, "What era’s rusty scrap metal. Nowadays even a random cleaning automaton in the lab is smarter than it."
Alyris clearly couldn’t be bothered to respond to the complaint, straightened up, returned to the desk, and leaned sideways against the desk’s edge.
Her fair hand naturally landed above the quiet alchemy sphere, her fingertips unconsciously stroking its cool metal shell, while lifting those ruby-like eyes, looking inquisitively at Bobo.
"What’s up? You shouldn’t be busy lately, so why come here to idle?"
Her tone carried a hint of teasing, and also a bit of understanding. After all, she was well aware of Bobo’s recent status.
Since taking on the task Kana gave, Bobo indeed was in a peculiar state of being busy and leisurely at the same time.
Whenever inspiration struck her mind, she would become like a wound-up machine, tirelessly busy.
Yet once the idea disappeared or was proven unfeasible, she would immediately relax, falling into a state of idle nothingness.
This was mainly due to the Divine Kingdom project hitting a bottleneck, with a core problem basically they couldn’t solve stuck there; if Kana didn’t personally resolve it, the Divine Kingdom project would stall.
Of course, Bobo never stopped thinking, naturally striving to find whether there’s another way to solve or cleverly bypass this issue.
Her previous busyness was because she had an idea, but now it’s confirmed that idea was useless.
"Can’t I come over for a visit without any reason?" Hearing this, Bobo immediately put on an expression of being hurt, exaggeratedly spreading her two front paws.
"Really——" she lengthened the tone, "Now your aura is getting stronger and stronger, can’t tolerate old friends anymore?"
Before finishing, she had already kicked her hind legs, nimbly hopping onto Alyris’s wide chair, boldly sitting down without a care, even crossing her legs, deliberately speaking in an affected drawl.
Hearing this, Alyris couldn’t help but roll a huge, markedly uncharacteristic eye contrary to her Chief Judge’s dignified image.
She walked to the chair in a few steps, extended her hand, and unceremoniously knocked on Bobo’s furry head, making a soft "knock" sound.
"Where do you get so much nonsense?"
Alyris glared at her half amused, half annoyed.
"Since Kana and Raelia have been away, you’ve really become more and more unrestrained. Did the lab guys all pick up from you?"
Facing Alyris’s "iron fist" lesson, Bobo merely rubbed her head with her paw, shrugging indifferently.
"This is called keeping it real."
She muttered softly.
Indeed, among the core members who once founded the Night Watchers, more or less everyone became more dignified, serious due to their respective duties, and exceptionally busy.
Only Bobo seemed to maintain and even exaggeratedly carried forward her previous jumping, carefree nature.
It’s hard to say if the alchemists in the lab, with their erratic thinking and behavior bordering on "insanity," weren’t deeply influenced by Bobo, this "spiritual leader," gradually adopting that demeanor.
The whole atmosphere of the experimental department, perhaps at its root, due to Bobo’s indulgence and example, has become somewhat unruly.
