Chapter 1400: Chapter 914: Another Evil God

That Abyss Evil God of Weak Divine Power, its form twisted and reeking of chaotic malignancy, appeared beside Kana without a sound, like a filthy conglomeration writhing in the shadows.

Its several limbs, of uneven lengths and covered in slick keratin or oozing pustules, restlessly scratched at the air.

A single gigantic, bloodshot compound eye was embedded in the center of its warped torso, locking onto Kana with unblinking focus.

Another head, goat-like in shape, hung crookedly to one side; its fanged mouth split open, emitting a hissing laugh that set one’s teeth on edge, laced with undisguised scorn and malice.

A surge of divine might, just a cut above Kana’s, the majesty of Weak Divine Power, pressed down on him like heavy, corrosive sludge.

This Suppression was not an all-out attempt to crush him, but more like a higher being’s careless, mocking probe and humiliation—exactly in line with an Abyss Evil God’s usual style.

Obviously, the other side was coming at him with a superior’s provocation.

After all, this suddenly arrived Evil God wielded Weak Divine Power, while Kana’s Divine Power amounted to nothing more than Weak Divine Power.

In battle terms, although Weak Divine Power does suppress Weak Divine Power, it doesn’t grant an absolutely decisive victory—but stronger is still stronger.

The other side had more than enough qualification to press down on Kana.

So it didn’t bother to hide its aura in the slightest.

"Tsk, tsk, tsk..."

The Evil God’s voice was like rusted Metal scraping together, shrill and grating.

The goat head swayed, the compound eye flickering with malicious light as it sized Kana up from top to bottom.

"Now, who do we have here? A little runt radiating such... mm, fresh, tender divinity.

"What a... feeble divine glow, like a candle just Ignited, snuffed out with the slightest breeze.

"Running into the Abyss to play house, piling up this laughable little mound of dirt—truly... commendable courage, or should I say, sheer idiocy?"

Its tone was lazily mocking, not treating Kana as worth noticing at all.

And Kana, listening to its words, merely watched the monster before him in silence.

Not a flicker of emotion crossed his face.

Seeing that utterly indifferent, eyes-above-all attitude—Kana clearly not putting him in his eyes—this Demon tucked away its initial playfully teasing intentions.

It stopped bothering to disguise its malice.

Several thin, elongated appendages pointed toward the distant, jagged silhouette of the Blood Pit Fortress’s outer defenses; its voice suddenly chilled, dripping with naked threat.

"This little toy—the Abyss can temporarily tolerate its existence, the way one tolerates a single irritating grain of sand.

"But," it paused, the compound eye pinning Kana in place, its divine might congealing in an instant like tangible spikes.

"If you dare let your little plaything expand outward by so much as an inch... the will of the Abyss will grow displeased.

And I, as the Abyss’s faithful servant, will be forced to... step in and clean up."

It deliberately drew out the word "clean," savoring it with cruel amusement.

"When that time comes, you’ll only be able to watch helplessly as your pitiful labor of love is ground to dust in my hands, like crushing a buzzing insect. That kind of despair—I imagine it’ll be quite entertaining."

Clearly this Evil God was here to slack off.

Most of the Abyss’s errand-runners are like this; if the Abyss hasn’t issued a compulsory order, they usually show up in body but not in effort.

For a newborn Blood Pit Fortress, it’s obvious the Abyss’s desire is to rip it out.

Sending someone whose Divine Power Level is higher than Kana’s at this moment is very clearly aimed at that outcome.

Yet the Evil God in front of him obviously just wanted to coast through his assignment, not particularly eager to actually fight a God of Order True God here.

Even if he did outclass the other by one Level.

The main thing was, he’d plainly sensed the rather intense aura of Order on Kana.

For the Abyss’s Evil Gods, they have their own criteria for judging Gods; by feeling out the other’s Rule Power, they can roughly grasp that God’s temperament.

When it comes to Gods radiating such a stark Order presence, they’ve never been keen on messing with them too much.

Even if their strength outstrips the other by one Level.

What if the other side goes berserk?

Even if he wins the battle in the end and destroys the Blood Pit Fortress, being marked by a God is no joke, and that fight might well leave him wounded. When it comes time for internal competition, the other Evil Gods would make his life miserable.

Not worth it.

For the Abyss’s orders, there’s no need to put himself in a truly dangerous position—that’d be a terrible trade.

So he came to issue a threat, to keep the Blood Pit Fortress from expanding, so the Abyss doesn’t send him more compulsory orders.

Everyone minding their own business—that’s the best outcome.

Abyss Evil Gods always operate like this.

Still, whatever the objective, the requisite layer of mockery is absolutely indispensable.

These Chaos Evil Gods of the Abyss find the Gods of the Order Society disgusting no matter how they look at them.

Now that one weaker than himself has shown up, how could he not take the chance to thoroughly disgust and ridicule him?

The goat head let loose a string of piercing shrill laughs, several primary limbs waving in exaggerated arcs.

"Hahahaha! All for so-called vengeance and fury? What childish impulse!

"You fledgling little Gods are always burdened with laughable senses of justice and mission. You think you’ve achieved some grand ’feat’ in the Abyss?

"Before the boundless Abyss, you—and that swarm of ant-like followers of yours—are nothing but a nest of annoying fleas. No matter how high you hop, all it takes is a casual stomp."

It mimed a distinctly human gesture of crushing something underfoot, the compound eye brimming with derision.

"Remember this, little runt: when the Abyss decides you’re to vanish, you vanish."
