An Xiaoqing smiled. “She said that among all the injured people, only one was actually treated by you. The hospital’s medical team hadn’t arrived yet, and there was no gauze for bandages. So you took off your own jacket and wrapped her wound with it. She even saw that same jacket this morning when she went to change the patient’s dressing.”

Chenyang raised an eyebrow. “So that’s how you guessed these people were bought off? You paid close attention to what they were saying and found the holes in their stories?” ℯ

“Exactly. That’s what made Rongrong and me suspicious.” An Xiaoqing paused. “I just had a colleague check the inpatient department. Your jacket is still sitting by the bedside of the very patient who’s slandering you. It can absolutely be used as evidence.”

Chenyang chuckled. “Looks like everything is moving in the right direction.”

Yan Rongrong nodded. “Of course. Our initial preparations were thorough, and with the new loopholes and physical evidence we’ve found, we can turn the tables on them in a heartbeat. Still, it’s best to wait until Liu Yue and the media company are fully ready before we act. Otherwise, we could still stir up unnecessary trouble.”

“No rush. Let’s enjoy the show Lin Jiji and his crew are putting on for now. The smugger they get, the more pathetic they’ll look when we finally shut them down.”

“Hahaha! Even though I already know how it’s going to end, I’m still really looking forward to it. This whole spectacle is way more interesting than my daily routine of training those guys at the company.”

“Seriously? I’m over here getting slandered, and you’re treating it like entertainment?”

“What’s wrong with that? Your name is about to be cleared anyway. We’ve got this in the bag, so what is there to worry about?”

“You…”

Just as Chenyang was about to let her have it, Angie suddenly tugged on the corner of his shirt. “Xiaochen, can I have a word with you alone?”

Chenyang turned and asked, “What is it, Sister Angie?”

“Does that person look familiar to you?”

The person Angie was pointing at was one of the people who had provided the videos and photos.

The woman was wearing a spaghetti-strap tank top and a miniskirt.

The low neckline revealed an ample bust, and her fair, smooth legs were particularly eye-catching below the short skirt.

Although she wore a mask, sunglasses, and a hat, you could still glimpse her fair skin through the gaps and tell she was attractive.

A stunning beauty stands out anywhere, and Chenyang couldn’t help but take a second look when she first appeared. He hadn’t thought much of it at the time, though. After all, with Lin Xiaoyue and Yao Yadi present, most other women seemed to pale in comparison.

But now that Angie had pointed her out, Chenyang also felt a faint sense of familiarity about her.

“She does seem a bit familiar, but I can’t place where I’ve seen her. Do you know her?”

Angie’s expression was strange. “Don’t you think she looks a little like Anna?”

“Anna?”

Chenyang froze for a second, his eyes once again studying the beautiful woman in the distance.

“Her figure is very similar, and her style of dress is identical. But… Nana has black hair, and that woman’s is blond. Did Nana dye her hair last night?”

“No.”

“Then it’s probably not her.”

Angie pursed her lips. “I can’t figure out the hair either, but my gut is telling me that’s Nana.”

“Well, why don’t you try calling her?”

“I…”

Seeing Angie hesitate, Chenyang smiled. “Sister Angie, are you worried that if it really is Nana, she’ll be held responsible for perjury later on?”

Angie nodded. “I’ve heard that in serious cases, perjury can lead to a prison sentence.”

Chenyang chuckled. “It can, but this situation isn’t that serious. Besides, if she performs a meritorious service, her punishment can be reduced or even waived.”

“How can she do that?”

“She was hired to commit perjury. If she stands up and testifies against Lin Jiji at the critical moment, that would be the best way for her to redeem herself.”

Hearing this, Angie’s eyes lit up. “You’re right! I’ll call her right now.”

“Don’t. Send her a text instead. The main course I’ve prepared for Lin Jiji isn’t ready to be served yet. Let’s have Nana lay low for a little while.”

“Okay, I’ll tell her.” Angie paused, then added indignantly, “That silly girl, teaming up with an outsider to bully you. Just wait until we get home. See how I deal with her then.”

Chenyang chuckled. “She probably didn’t know I was the one Lin Jiji was targeting. She might not even know Lin Jiji was the one who hired her. She was likely just trying to earn a little extra money for her family.”
