Chapter 411: Chapter 411

Not only did Yao Yadi not appreciate Lin Jiji’s gesture, but when he looked her way, she shot him a cold glare.

Seeing this, a vicious glint flashed in Lin Jiji’s eyes.

’Fucking bitch!’ he thought. ’Just you wait. Once this is over, I’m going to find a way to get you into my bed. I won’t just fuck you, I’ll cum all over that pretty face of yours!’

As Lin Jiji was lost in his fantasy, the shouts from the crowd rang out once more.

"Since Mr. Lin said so, we can let this reporter off the hook. But Chenyang has to be restrained."

"That’s right, he needs to be handcuffed! Better yet, put him in leg shackles too!"

Zhang Hongtu hesitated. "According to the law, we can only use handcuffs if we have concrete evidence of a crime. Right now, he’s only a suspect, so using handcuffs wouldn’t be proper procedure. But rest assured, everyone. We will have officers flanking Chenyang at all times. There will be absolutely no chance of him escaping!"

The crowd was still displeased, but Zhang Hongtu was the vice mayor, after all. Since he had made his position clear, they couldn’t press the matter further.

Soon, two police officers escorted Chenyang up the steps. Zhang Hongtu and the others also gradually returned to their seats.

"Dean Zhen, let’s begin."

Dean Zhen wasn’t just the dean of the City Hospital; he also held two other concurrent posts: Secretary of the City Hospital’s Party Committee and Deputy Director of the Municipal Medical Office.

He nodded at Zhang Hongtu, then turned to address the crowd.

He began with a few brief, formal remarks.

The gist of it was that an incident like this was the hospital’s responsibility, and he apologized to everyone. He added that both the hospital and the city government had a general understanding of the situation and would soon provide a satisfactory public explanation.

He assured them an explanation would be given, but first, they had to conduct a thorough investigation to uncover the truth, ensuring they neither wronged an innocent person nor let a guilty one go free.

After finishing these remarks, his tone shifted. "Everyone is already aware of the course of events. However, regarding the version circulating online, we need evidence to determine whether it is true or false before we can draw any final conclusions.

"In the interest of fairness and impartiality, I would like to first invite both parties involved to state their cases, and then to present evidence supporting their claims."

With that, Dean Zhen looked to the side. "Mr. Lin, who will speak first, you or Doctor Chen?"

"Let Chenyang go first," Lin Jiji sneered. "Let’s all hear what kind of ridiculous story he’s going to spin."

Chenyang scoffed, "I haven’t said a word. How would you know if I’m telling a story or stating the facts?"

"Hah. You think you have the nerve to talk after all the shady, despicable things you’ve done?"

"We both know perfectly well whose actions are truly despicable."

Chenyang glanced at him, then said gravely, "Dean Zhen, his fans and the public just said that you shouldn’t be biased toward me just because Lin Jiji is from out of town. To be fair, let’s have Lin Jiji speak first."

"Very well. Mr. Lin, you may begin."

"I don’t mind going first. I’m just afraid that by the time I’m finished, you won’t even have a chance to speak," Lin Jiji taunted.

A slight smile touched Chenyang’s lips. "The innocent have nothing to hide. In front of all these leaders and citizens, I trust that no one will listen only to rumors and allow the truth to be buried!"

"Heh. Since you’re asking for it, I’ll be happy to oblige."

Lin Jiji’s expression was full of contempt; he wasn’t worried in the slightest that Chenyang could turn the tables.

He had not only paid a media company to sensationalize the story, but he had also hired a mob of "fans" and bribed many of the car crash victims’ families.

Coupled with the photos and videos he’d cooked up yesterday, he had more than enough to make the countless fabricated charges against Chenyang stick.

He was supremely confident in his plan. He firmly believed nothing could go wrong and was certain that Chenyang had absolutely zero chance of making a comeback!

After a brief pause, Lin Jiji reiterated the claims he had posted online.

Of course, he didn’t tell it entirely from his own perspective.

For the most part, he framed it from a righteous standpoint, condemning Chenyang.

He also embellished his account, claiming that not only had Chenyang failed to save him at the scene of the crash, but he had also insulted him and taken advantage of Lin Xiaoyue right in front of him.

After he finished, Dean Zhen spoke. "So, to summarize, you and the other victims are leveling three main accusations against Chenyang. First, that he took advantage of patients for personal gain while treating them. Second, that he lacks a medical license. And third, that he insulted you and showed you disrespect."

"As for the third accusation, it’s not just that he insulted me and was disrespectful. He was toying with my life! I was in mortal danger, but he ignored me and chose to save a pretty woman with minor injuries instead."

"I see. So, in summary, those are the three main charges, correct?"

"That’s right!"

Lin Jiji nodded and pulled out a cell phone. "The photos and videos on here are the complete evidence for these three charges!"
