The Fragrance of My Hot Patients
Chapter 400
“Shh~!”
Seeing that Doctor Liu was about to say his name, Chenyang quickly made a hushing gesture.
All the fans out front were here for him.
If she shouted his name, “Chenyang,” right here, the resulting commotion would be no less than setting off a massive firecracker.
At the same time, to avoid the possibility that Doctor Liu was one of the people who opposed him, Chenyang added after the gesture, “If you trust me, I’ll go in and treat the patient. If you don’t, I can leave, but please don’t make a scene. Otherwise, if those fans swarm over here, I’ll be in trouble, and so will the patient inside.”
Doctor Liu pursed her red lips. “Doctor Chen, you’re overthinking it. Although I’ve never met you, I’ve heard about you from Director Liu. I believe you’re not the kind of person the internet makes you out to be.”
An Xiaoqing smiled and said, “Doctor Liu is one of Liu Yun’s people. You don’t need to worry.”
Hearing this, Chenyang secretly breathed a sigh of relief. “Since we’re all on the same side, let’s save the patient first.”
“Okay, I’ll tell you about the patient’s condition.”
As she spoke, Doctor Liu pulled open the ambulance door, stepped inside, and began explaining the patient’s specific condition.
Chenyang listened as he began to examine the patient.
Seeing his brow gradually furrow, Doctor Liu asked in a low voice, “Is it very tricky?”
“It is a bit tricky. Normally, even with severe underlying conditions, someone his age shouldn’t present with so many complications. I suspect he must have recently suffered some injuries from a fall or something similar, right?”
“A fall?” Doctor Liu looked doubtfully at the family member standing nearby.
The family member’s face filled with astonishment. “This doctor is incredible! Just by taking his pulse, he could tell my father had a fall?”
“Is that true?” Doctor Liu asked.
“Yes. He fell down the stairs four or five days ago, and started experiencing numbness on one side of his body after that. Then last night, he lost his balance and fell again when he got up to use the bathroom. After that, he became dazed and started having sharp pains in his head.” ℯℯ𝑙.
“We all told him to come to the hospital, but the old man insisted that falls like that are normal at his age and that he’d be fine after some rest. But when we went to wake him for breakfast this morning, we found him unconscious.”
“Why didn’t you tell us this sooner?”
“I… You only asked about his medical condition, you didn’t ask about this.”
The family member seemed sheepish. Doctor Liu, on the other hand, felt an urge to curse. Withholding information is a huge taboo when dealing with critically ill patients. Missing even a single crucial detail could drastically increase the difficulty of treatment and lead to unpredictable outcomes.
Chenyang waved his hand. “This isn’t the time for that. Let’s focus on saving him. I need your help.”
“How can I help?”
“Remove his shirt, get the defibrillator ready, and then…”
Chenyang listed a series of steps. Doctor Liu acknowledged each one and began to prepare, while Chenyang took out his silver needles and started performing acupuncture on the patient’s head.
While they were busy inside, a chaotic scene was unfolding outside.
The city leaders had originally intended to push through the crowd to the entrance, but when they noticed the situation at the ambulance, they all gathered around it instead.
Appearing outside the vehicle with them was the stunningly beautiful woman who had spoken with Lin Jiji earlier.
“Can Traditional Chinese Medicine be used for emergency treatment?”
Watching Chenyang’s skilled needling technique, one of the leaders asked curiously.
An official from the medical system standing nearby replied, “It can. In fact, the effects of TCM emergency treatments are often better than Western medicine. However, they tend to be slower, and sometimes, because they don’t take effect quickly enough, the patient’s condition can worsen before they do. That’s why most hospitals don’t use TCM for emergency response.”
“The City Hospital is the face of Yang City’s medical community. Even if today’s situation is a bit unusual, why would they send a TCM doctor for such a critically ill patient?”
“Because of all these fans.” The person who answered was Doctor Liu, who had just finished her task. She had heard people talking outside and was about to tell them to be quiet so they wouldn’t disturb Chenyang, but when she stepped out of the ambulance, she saw a group of the city’s top leaders.
She quickly gave them a brief overview of the situation.
“These celebrity fans are really a nuisance,” the head leader said, shaking his head in displeasure. “But even so, there are other doctors. What about someone like Director Liu Yun? Why didn’t she come?”
Doctor Liu smiled. “The medical skill of Doctor Chen in there is no less than Director Liu’s. With him here, the patient’s safety is even more assured.”
“Doctor Chen… You mean Chenyang from that recent incident?”
“Uh… well…” Doctor Liu was momentarily at a loss for words. If she admitted it, she worried the leaders would immediately have Chenyang arrested. But if she denied it, she worried they’d be angry when they found out the truth later.
