The Fragrance of My Hot Patients
Chapter 377
Chapter 377: Chapter 377
An Xiaoqing frowned. "The City Hospital’s patient flow is much higher than other hospitals, but in the past, the most we’d see lined up before opening would be two or three hundred people at most. Now, just from a quick glance, there must be at least four or five hundred."
"Besides, they all look so red-faced and agitated. Their expressions are completely different from people who are just here for a normal appointment."
Chenyang raised an eyebrow. "They’re probably here for me."
"For you?" Yan Rongrong asked, turning her head after pulling the car into a parking spot. "You’re saying those people aren’t patients and their families, but Lin Jiji’s fans, along with people here to make trouble or watch the show because of the online chatter?"
Chenyang nodded. "There are definitely some patients, but they probably make up a very small part of the crowd. If you look closely, the ones holding patient files or insurance cards are the patients. The rest are all troublemakers or gawkers."
An Xiaoqing and Yan Rongrong peered ahead for a moment, and their expressions grew complicated.
"Looks like this situation is even more serious than we thought."
"Showing up to cause trouble this early in the morning... they’re clearly trying to force the hospital to hand you over as soon as possible. The hospital is a place for treating the sick and saving lives. To avoid disrupting normal operations and to protect its reputation, the administration will likely make a decision on how to handle you sooner rather than later."
As she spoke, An Xiaoqing’s face grew taut. "Until we have everything we’ve planned in place, you absolutely cannot get out of this car. Otherwise, before the hospital even throws you out to take the fall, Lin Jiji’s more aggressive fans will rush over and do something to you."
Chenyang lowered his head in thought for a moment. "No, I have to get out."
"Are you crazy? You know those people are here for you! Getting out now is like walking right into the lion’s den!" Yan Rongrong waved her hand and started the car again. "I’ll take you somewhere safe to wait for a while. You can show up later, once Liu Yue and the media company have everything arranged."
Chenyang smiled and shook his head. "I appreciate the thought, but I have to get out now. I’m not the only one facing this mess. Liu Yun, Liu Qian, and other colleagues at the hospital are too."
"They’ve been taking a lot of heat for me since this whole thing started yesterday. Now that these people are right at the hospital’s main entrance, I can’t let them keep facing a mess that they shouldn’t have to deal with."
Seeing that Chenyang was about to open the door, An Xiaoqing quickly said, "They haven’t broken in yet! Why don’t you just call Director Liu and the others and tell them to lie low for a while?"
"They can hide from the people outside, but what about the hospital management?"
"Well..."
"Last night, people from the relevant departments pulled the hospital director into a meeting in the middle of the night to discuss this. After the meeting, they gave Vice Dean Kang and the others a deadline to resolve the issue."
"If the situation hadn’t escalated, Liu Yun might have been able to stall for a while longer. But with a scene like this, it’s clear things are already completely out of control."
"Whether to protect its image or its bottom line, the hospital administration is definitely going to resolve this before work officially starts. That means the higher-ups are probably already in a meeting with Liu Yun and the others right now."
With that, Chenyang pushed An Xiaoqing’s hand off his arm. "I know you’re looking out for me, but I can’t just worry about my own safety and ignore what’s happening to Liu Yun and the others."
An Xiaoqing was visibly moved by his words.
Yan Rongrong, however, after a moment’s thought, got out of the car and ran to catch up with Chenyang. "I know I can’t stop you, but can you just wait a second? It won’t even take five minutes! I’m calling my brother right now to have him get some police over here."
"This many people gathered here is basically a public disturbance. Having the police come will maintain order, which will calm the hospital administration down, and it’ll be the best way to protect you."
Chenyang hesitated. "Okay, you call the police for me. I’m going to go check on the situation."
"No, why can’t I get through to you? Can’t you just wait until my brother’s people get here before you go over?"
"I..."
"Look! It’s Chenyang! Over there!"
Chenyang had just begun to speak when someone in the crowd suddenly shouted. Instantly, the mob gathered around the three entrances wheeled around and surged toward the parking lot like a tidal wave.
Seeing this, Chenyang gave a wry smile. "I guess there’s no time to wait now, even if I wanted to. You and An Xiaoqing get back in the car and leave, quick! So you don’t get hurt by accident!"
