Chapter 340: Chapter 340

An Xiaoqing’s lips curled into a triumphant smile. She pointed to the car at the side. "Go on, head back the way you came."

"You really want me to leave?"

Rongrong pouted pitifully, tugging on An Xiaoqing’s hand. "I’ve seen plenty of celebrities, but this is my first time seeing a celebrity get a beatdown.

If I miss this, I might not get another chance in this lifetime, let alone the next. I know you’re worried I’ll get into trouble, and that I’ll just get in the way.

How about this? I’ll hide behind you, I’ll only watch. I absolutely won’t step forward or lift a finger, okay?"

An Xiaoqing hesitated for a moment, then looked over at Chenyang.

The reason she could joke around so freely with Rongrong, even saying harsh things, wasn’t just because she had some leverage over her, but also because the two of them were exceptionally close.

They had grown up together, and aside from the five years Rongrong had spent in the army, they were almost always together. They were no different from blood sisters.

And as for going to settle scores with Lin Jiji, it wasn’t just Rongrong—even An Xiaoqing herself was curious. She wanted to see what it would be like for a huge star to get threatened, or even thrashed, by Chenyang.

"Why don’t we take her? I’ll keep her in line. I’ll make sure she doesn’t do anything rash."

Chenyang’s brow furrowed. As he hesitated, Rongrong grinned. "Just say yes. Tell you what, I’ll even sleep with you."

Chenyang was speechless. "You keep joking about sleeping together. I might actually take you up on that offer."

"First, I’m not joking. I meet a lot of men every day, but none of them are as handsome as you.

Second, my dad is always pushing me to find a doctor for a boyfriend. He’s basically arranged for me to meet all the outstanding young doctors in Yang City’s medical scene, but not one of them has caught my eye.

I just asked Qingqing, and she said you don’t have a girlfriend. I’m single, too. And you meet every single one of my standards for my dream man..."

"I may meet your standards, but that doesn’t mean you meet mine, does it?"

"That’s not important."

"How is that not important? A relationship has to be mutual. If I don’t love you, or even like you, how could we possibly date?"

"Feelings can be nurtured. And love is something you can have *after* you ’do’ it first."

"’Have it... *after* you do it’?" An Xiaoqing frowned. "Where in the world did you come up with a phrase like that?"

Rongrong grinned. "I came up with it myself. First, you make love. If you do it for long enough, doesn’t it turn into real love? To put it in terms you cultured folks would use, couldn’t you call it ’love grows from prolonged contact’? Anyway, that’s the general idea."

An Xiaoqing shot Rongrong a speechless glance. "There might be some truth to what you’re saying, but being so blunt and shameless about it... Aren’t you worried Chenyang will think you’re too forward and be afraid to get involved with you?"

Rongrong put on an innocent expression. "But don’t all men like forward women?"

"They like ’forward,’ yes, but only when it’s in the bedroom. In the day-to-day of a relationship, no man likes a woman who’s this shamelessly forward."

"Well, what a coincidence. I just so happen to only be this forward with the handsome Chenyang."

"Uh..."

An Xiaoqing was stunned for a second. "But you’re being so obvious about it, you’ll probably scare Chenyang away. Forget dating you, he’ll likely start deliberately keeping his distance."

"You mean handsome Chenyang doesn’t like this forward kind of charm?"

With that, Rongrong looked at Chenyang. "Actually, I’m not usually like this. If you don’t believe me, ask Qingqing. I’m a very... straightforward person. You men all prefer someone who’s simple and direct, right? That’s me!"

An Xiaoqing scoffed. "That part’s true. My dear sister here is beautiful, and she doesn’t have a scheming bone in her body. She’s always been completely direct. However..."

"However what?" Chenyang asked, his curiosity piqued.

"She can be both a woman... and a man."

"Huh?" Upon hearing this, Chenyang subconsciously glanced down toward Rongrong’s crotch. Though he hadn’t been a doctor for long, he had heard of intersex individuals before.

Rongrong was so beautiful, and she had a gallant air that most other women lacked. If she were intersex, it would be a tragic waste of God’s handiwork.

"Such a pity."

Seeing Chenyang sigh, Rongrong was confused, but An Xiaoqing instantly guessed his thoughts. She quickly shook her head and said, "You misunderstood. I don’t mean she’s intersex. I mean she looks very feminine, but her personality can be a bit mannish. She was a soldier, after all, so she can be a little roguish at times."

Chenyang’s mouth twitched. "Sister An, could you try not to be so dramatic next time? And besides, ’dashing and heroic’ would be a much more fitting description. When you just say ’like a man’... it’s really easy to get the wrong idea."

"Exactly! If handsome Chenyang wasn’t smart enough to figure things out, you would’ve been the one to break up us two poor, fated lovers!"

"Chenyang hasn’t even agreed to anything yet. What makes you two lovebirds?"

"He just hasn’t agreed yet. But later..."

"Stop!"

Chenyang couldn’t take it anymore. He quickly cut off the two beautiful women’s bickering, then pointed at the time on his phone. "It’s almost the middle of the night. Can we please focus on the task at hand? We can chat about this stuff after we’re done, okay?"
