Chapter 323: Chapter 323

Chenyang said gravely, "This is an emergency, Sister Liu, so I’ll be direct. I need your help with two things. First, spread the news that I’m not at the hospital. Second, stall the director for as long as you can and keep him from making any decisions yet."

Liu Yun frowned. "A lot of people are looking for you right now, which means you could be in danger or run into trouble at any moment.

In this situation, we should draw them to the hospital to relieve some of the pressure on you, giving you room to find a solution. Why would you want to specifically tell everyone you’re outside?"

Chenyang explained, "It’s simple. If I tell them I’m at the hospital, it will immediately bring a lot of unnecessary trouble to the hospital.

The director and the other leaders already hate me enough as it is. If I cause more trouble for them, they’ll probably fire me on the spot without any further investigation. Then everything we’re doing will be for nothing.

But if we claim I’m outside, it’ll relieve most of the pressure on the hospital, and the director and the others won’t be so anxious.

Besides, Yang City is huge. They’ll only know I’m out here somewhere, but not my exact location. Trying to find me will be like looking for a needle in a haystack.

They’ll also definitely split up to look for me. Even if I run into one or two groups on my way to solve the problem, I have ways to handle them. On the other hand, if they all gather at the hospital, by the time I find a solution and go back, I’d be swarmed by that huge crowd before I could even do anything."

Hearing this, Liu Yun’s expression cleared with understanding. "I get it. Doing this not only reduces the pressure on the hospital, but it also helps to disperse their forces and buy you some time."

"Exactly. What we need most right now is time."

"I understand. I’ll get on it in a bit. The people I know might not be able to turn around the negative public opinion about you, but spreading a piece of news won’t be a problem."

Liu Yun paused for a moment, then added, "As for stalling the director, I’ll do my best, but I can’t guarantee I can delay him for too long.

Because this time, it was people from the relevant government departments who met with the director. The higher-ups must have put a lot of pressure on him, and they might have even given him a deadline to resolve this incident.

He can make his own decisions within that deadline. If it goes a little over, I can find a way to stall. But if it goes too far past the deadline, I’m afraid there’s nothing I can do."

Chenyang nodded. "I know. The hospital doesn’t belong to you, or the director, or any single person—it belongs to Yang City. With so much negative buzz, neither the hospital nor the government would want it to continue for long.

It’s already eleven at night. No matter how anxious the higher-ups are, they must know the hospital can’t do much this late. I estimate that if there is a deadline, it won’t be until tomorrow morning at the earliest."

"Mhm. In my experience, the deadline for this kind of thing is usually tomorrow noon at the latest."

"I’ll try to get it done as quickly as possible. If things go smoothly, I should be able to handle it before morning."

The solution Chenyang came up with was to go find Lin Jiji directly.

Because right now, the fastest way to solve the problem was to find its source and extinguish the public outcry there.

Lin Jiji was the one who created the trouble and the problem. If he could be dealt with, all the issues would naturally resolve themselves.

As for *how* to deal with him, Chenyang planned to play it by ear.

The time required would depend on two things: first, how long it took to find Lin Jiji, and second, how long it took to deal with him.

He couldn’t estimate that, so he didn’t give Liu Yun a specific timeframe.

Liu Yun pondered for a moment and said, "Just do your best. Don’t worry about anything else. I’ll use all my resources to buy you time on the hospital’s end. It’d be best if you can solve it quickly, but if you can’t, don’t force it. I’ll help you think of other solutions in the meantime."

In truth, Liu Yun didn’t think Chenyang could solve this mess in just half a night.

It wasn’t that she didn’t believe in Chenyang’s abilities, but this problem was just too big.

Never mind Chenyang; even someone like her, with her wealthy family background, or the high-ranking director, would be at a complete loss.

Chenyang smiled and thanked her. After hanging up, he handed the phone to An Xiaoqing and said, "Can you help me find out where Lin Jiji is right now?"

An Xiaoqing, who already had a general idea of what was happening, smiled and nodded. "If Lin Jiji were out of town, I couldn’t make any promises. But as long as he’s still in Yang City, I can definitely find him for you."

An Xiaoqing’s confidence came from two things: first, her impressive network of contacts, and second, the fact that Lin Jiji’s location wouldn’t be hard to find.

Because Lin Jiji wasn’t a local, he would have to be staying in a hotel. And given his status, it would definitely be one of the nicer ones.

There weren’t many high-end hotels in Yang City. Even if she had to use her connections to call them one by one, she could find him quickly...
