Chapter 311: Chapter 311

In the courtyard of a private residence.

The night was pitch-black, with a crescent moon hanging high in the sky.

Chenyang and Gao Tianqi sat facing each other in the gazebo.

The gazebo was a semi-suspended structure built over a pond where fish chased each other playfully around lotus leaves.

It was surrounded by clusters of meticulously pruned flowers of all kinds.

The scenery here was beautiful.

A delicate floral fragrance filled the air.

Combined with the star-filled sky and a rare, cool evening breeze in the summer, it was like a hidden paradise tucked away in the bustling city!

It was intoxicating, enough to sweep anyone away.

Even Chenyang, whose mind had been in turmoil, gradually calmed down.

After comfortably smoking half a cigarette, he suddenly sighed. "This little courtyard is really nice. You could call it the rarest patch of pure land in all of Yang City. It’s just a bit of a pity."

Gao Tianqi sat across from him with his legs crossed, a thin cigar held between his fingers. "A pity about what?"

"It’s a pity that this pure land is about to be stained with blood, and the floral scent in the air is about to be replaced by the stench of it."

"Hahaha, so you knew I brought you here to get beaten bloody."

Chenyang glanced at him as if looking at an idiot. "Obviously. You didn’t bring me here to enjoy the scenery, did you?"

Gao Tianqi grinned. "Your attitude isn’t half bad. You know you’re here to get beaten, yet you can still act so nonchalant."

Chenyang took a deep drag from his cigarette, then immediately stubbed it out. "Alright, I’ve seen the scenery and I’ve listened to your bullshit. Let’s get on with it. I’m planning to go back and catch some more sleep later."

"Don’t be in such a hurry. I can see you really like the peaceful environment here. I can let you enjoy it a little longer. After all, you won’t get the chance to enjoy it later."

"Director Gao, I slept with your wife. I’m your enemy. Would you please show a little of the ruthlessness you’re supposed to show an enemy? You’re acting so magnanimous, I almost feel bad about cursing you out."

"Haha, it’s true you’re my enemy. But me, I like to be reasonable. I try to avoid getting physical if I can."

"Didn’t you just say you were going to make me bleed and get beaten up? Why are you trying to be reasonable now?"

"Being reasonable is contingent on you being obedient. If you’re not, you’re definitely still getting that beating."

Chenyang raised an eyebrow. "Oh? Then I’d love to hear how you plan to ’be reasonable’."

Gao Tianqi chuckled. "It’s actually very simple. Just apologize to me. Of course, the apology has to be done in a specific way. It’s just three steps. First, kneel and give me ten loud kowtows. You have to split your scalp open on every single one.

"Second, get on all fours and crawl around the gazebo while barking like a dog. You can only stop when your pants are worn through and your knees are a bloody mess."

Seeing him suddenly stop, Chenyang pressed, "And the third step?"

"HACK! PTOOEY!"

Gao Tianqi hawked up a wad of thick phlegm and spat it onto his shoe. He then shook his foot. "Lick this clean for me! And I mean so clean it looks brand new!"

Kneeling and kowtowing, crawling and barking like a dog, licking a shoe—each of these was a method designed for maximum humiliation, to trample on a person’s dignity.

By making Chenyang do this, Gao Tianqi clearly intended not only to humiliate him severely but also to reclaim, with interest, the dignity he had lost in his office earlier.

And if Chenyang were to obediently comply, he would be completely stripped of his dignity before Gao Tianqi from then on. His only choices would be to be forced out of the hospital in disgrace or to act as subservient as a dog meeting its master every time he saw him.

Chenyang grinned. "As expected of Director Gao. Even your methods for getting an apology are so novel!"

"Don’t try to suck up to me. Based on what you did today, even if you praise me to the high heavens, I won’t reduce these three conditions one bit."

Looking at Gao Tianqi’s high-and-mighty expression, Chenyang felt an urge to throw his head back and laugh.

’You dumbass,’ he thought, ’how could you possibly think I was complimenting you?’

Of course, he couldn’t be bothered to argue the point with an idiot like Gao Tianqi. After a brief pause, he smiled. "So if I do all that, you’ll let me leave?"

"That’s right."

"And if I don’t, what does Director Gao plan to do then?"

"Didn’t I just say? If reason doesn’t work, then you’ll have to get beaten and bleed." Gao Tianqi waved his hand. "The two paths are laid out before you. Hurry up and choose."

Chenyang picked up the thin cigars Gao Tianqi had placed on the stone table, took one out, and lit it. After taking a drag, he answered with a non-sequitur: "Director Gao, in your many years as a doctor, I wonder if you’ve ever seen a case where the occipital bone not only protrudes but is also extremely hard?"

"I’m not a neurosurgeon, so I don’t know what you’re talking about. Hurry up and make your choice."

"But this *is* me telling you my choice."

"I asked you which path you choose, and you’re fucking talking to me about a hard, protruding skull bone. What the fuck kind of answer is that?"

"Since you don’t understand, let me educate you." Chenyang leaned back, propping his leg up on the stone table, and said with a lazy smile, "A hard, protruding bone at the back of the head... according to the older generation, that’s called a ’rebel bone.’

"People with a rebel bone have always done things their own way and don’t follow the beaten path. And as it happens, I have a rebel bone just like that on the back of my head."
