The Fox And The Last Dragon
Chapter 112: Most People Aren’t Dating A Dragon
Kane paused halfway to the hallway, doing a complete double-take.
"Wait, what?"
Cyrus stood from the table, crimson eyes holding that familiar intensity.
"I said I could join you."
"Yeah, I heard what you said. I’m just trying to figure out if you’re being serious or if this is some weird dragon humor I don’t understand yet."
Kane crossed his arms, studying Cyrus’s expression for any hint of jest.
There wasn’t one.
Cyrus moved closer, his voice dropping to that low rumble that made Kane’s pulse quicken.
"I’m being serious."
"Oh."
Kane’s snark evaporated as heat pooled in his stomach.
"I mean, if you think you can handle sharing shower space with someone who actually uses soap for its intended purpose..."
Cyrus’s mouth quirked upward.
"I think I can manage."
Kane found himself being guided toward the bathroom, Cyrus’s hand warm against his lower back.
The dragon’s touch was possessive but gentle, a reminder of everything that had changed between them.
"Just so we’re clear," Kane said as they reached the bathroom door, "this is just going to be a quick shower."
Cyrus’s eyes gleamed with unmistakable intent.
"I make no promises."
Before Kane could protest, Cyrus’s hand slipped from his back to his wrist, tugging him into the bathroom with surprising force.
Kane stumbled forward, catching himself against the marble countertop.
"Hey, I said quick—"
The door clicked shut behind them with finality. Cyrus leaned against it, blocking any escape route with his imposing frame.
"You said quick," Cyrus murmured, stepping closer until Kane was trapped between dragon and marble.
"I never agreed to that."
Kane’s breath hitched as warm fingers traced along his jawline.
"We have to go to work eventually."
"Eventually."
Cyrus’s thumb brushed over Kane’s bottom lip, and Kane’s resolve crumbled.
"The water’s not even running yet."
"Then we should fix that."
Cyrus reached past Kane, turning the shower handles. Steam began to rise from the glass enclosure, fogging the mirrors around them.
Kane watched Cyrus’s reflection blur and disappear, leaving only the heat between them.
"Still think this is just going to be quick?" asked Cyrus.
Steam swirled around them as Cyrus pressed him against the cool marble, the contrast making Kane gasp.
Kane’s response came in the form of fingers tugging at Cyrus’s shirt, pulling the fabric up and over broad shoulders. The expensive cotton hit the floor with a whisper.
Cyrus retaliated by sliding Kane’s sleep shirt off in one fluid motion, his hands mapping the newly exposed skin with reverent touches.
"Water’s getting hot," Kane breathed, though neither of them moved toward the shower.
"So are you."
Cyrus’s mouth found the sensitive spot behind Kane’s ear, drawing a shuddering moan from the fox.
Kane’s hands fumbled with Cyrus’s sleep pants, pushing them down muscled thighs.
The glass door stood open, steam beckoning them into the rainfall shower. With ease, Cyrus raised Kane and carried him beneath the stream of perfectly hot water.
Droplets ran down their skin as they kissed again, deeper this time, hands roaming freely over wet flesh.
Kane’s back hit the tiled wall, and he wrapped his legs around Cyrus’s waist.
"Hold on to me," Cyrus commanded, his voice rough with desire.
Kane’s arms wound around Cyrus’s neck, fingers digging into broad shoulders.
The position left Kane completely dependent on Cyrus’s strength, a vulnerability that sent heat racing through his veins.
Cyrus moved with controlled power, each thrust deliberate and measured.
His crimson eyes never left Kane’s face, drinking in every expression of pleasure that crossed the fox’s features.
Kane threw his head back against the tiles, water streaming down his throat as he gasped Cyrus’s name.
The steam around them seemed to shimmer with their combined energy, silver and crimson threading together in the air.
Overwhelmed by the intense claim, Kane could only whimper in response.
His world narrowed to Cyrus’s hands, Cyrus’s mouth, and the relentless rhythm that drove him closer to the edge.
The hot water ran endlessly, but neither cared about anything beyond the fire consuming them both.
Cyrus’s pace quickened, his control finally fracturing as Kane’s nails raked down his back. Kane’s cries echoed off the marble walls, mixing with the rush of water.
"Cyrus, I’m—"
Kane’s words dissolved into a strangled moan as pleasure crashed over him, his body arching against the dragon’s strength.
Cyrus followed moments later, Kane’s name a growl on his lips as he buried his face in the fox’s neck.
They stayed pressed together, breathing hard as the water cascaded around them.
Cyrus’s arms trembled slightly from holding Kane’s weight, but he made no move to let go.
"Okay," Kane panted, "now we actually shower."
Kane’s legs trembled as Cyrus slowly lowered him back to the shower floor, both of them breathing hard against the cascade of water.
Cyrus chuckled, reaching for the temperature controls.
"Of course."
The water, already edging too hot, suddenly spiked into dragon-level scalding. Kane yelped and jumped backward, nearly slipping on the wet tiles.
"What the hell, Cyrus! Are you trying to cook me?"
"This is a normal temperature."
Cyrus stood directly under the spray, completely unbothered by what Kane was certain had to be near-boiling water.
"Normal for a dragon, maybe! I’m not a boiled dumpling!"
Kane pressed himself against the far wall of the spacious shower, as far from the lava stream as possible.
"You’re being dramatic."
"I’m being self-preservational!"
Cyrus sighed and adjusted the temperature down several degrees.
"Better?"
Kane cautiously stepped forward, testing the water with one finger.
"Still too hot."
Another adjustment.
"Now?"
"Getting there."
After three more rounds of negotiation, they finally found a temperature that wouldn’t strip the skin from Kane’s bones.
"You realize most people don’t require protective gear to shower with their boyfriend," Kane muttered, accepting the expensive body wash Cyrus handed him.
Cyrus’s mouth curled upward at the word ’boyfriend.’
"Most people aren’t dating a dragon."
Outside the bathroom, Cyrus’s phone buzzed insistently on the nightstand, its vibration muffled by the sound of running water and their quiet conversation.
Neither of them heard it.
