Chapter 402 -324: Demon Stealing Home?

Meanwhile, in a vacant house in eastern Plantagenet City, Vivian held a long, dark leather trench coat, examining its craftsmanship.

“The workmanship is incredible. It looks as good as any of my teacher’s Magic Items.” She smiled, turning her head to Uncle Musa. “Did my brother have you bring this to me?”

“Yes. The young master said that you’re alone in the ‘Wolf’s Den’ now, so you must be extremely careful. This is a standard-issue Invisibility Trench Coat; it can be used even if your Spiritual Power is completely depleted.” Uncle Musa looked at Vivian with the fond expression of a father looking at his daughter.

“My brother… is he still hiding out in Yangjiao Town and the Nightmare Forest?” Hearing her uncle mention Shire, Vivian couldn’t help but pout. “He keeps saying he has important business to attend to, and now he won’t even let me see him.”

“The young master really does have business to attend to.” Uncle Musa smiled awkwardly. He and Shire had agreed he would use this excuse to put Vivian off last time as well. It felt a little cruel, but given the circumstances, Vivian understood what was truly important.

“I wonder what this ‘business’ is.” Even though she understood the reason, she couldn’t resist a bit of grumbling.

Looking at Vivian, Uncle Musa couldn’t help but say, “You know that’s just the kind of person Young Master Shire is. Your father used to say that he may seem lazy and laid-back, but once he sets his mind on something, he puts his entire heart into it.”

“I know, Uncle. I won’t go and bother him,” Vivian mumbled grumpily. “Important business… you’d think he was founding a nation.”

Uncle Musa smiled apologetically. “He misses you very much, you know. He told me before that he really didn’t want you involved in this investigation, but I know how you two are. Neither of you can ever convince the other of anything.”

Vivian didn’t argue. Instead, she silently lowered her head, her hands clutching the leather trench coat so tightly that the material wrinkled.

“Sigh…” Uncle Musa let out a breath. “Rest assured, Shire is doing well. Didn’t you use Divination on him before? It showed that everything was fine, didn’t it?”

Vivian nodded, the light returning to her eyes. “That’s true. My teacher also performed a prophecy, and it said my brother won’t face any life-threatening danger in the future.”

“But it’s a little strange. Professor Affif wanted to see more of my brother’s future, but he could only see a thick fog.” Her tone was laced with confusion, as she was clearly unsure if this was a good or a bad sign. “When I tried to use a Prophetic Technique before, I also heard a strange voice. My teacher told me at the time that perhaps there was an issue with the Magic, and I had accidentally brushed against an unexpected Domain.”

Uncle Musa didn’t know how to respond. He didn’t know much about Magic, so he could only offer a wry smile.

“Oh, never mind. As long as he’s safe, that’s all that matters.” Seeing her uncle’s expression, Vivian stuck out her tongue and quickly changed the subject. “By the way, Uncle, how long will you be staying this time?”

“I’ll be leaving as soon as we’re done here. I only came to deliver this invisibility item.” Musa smiled and waved his hand. He didn’t tell her anything about Rune Language: Door. Shire had warned him that it was a lost ancient Secret Technique; if word got out, it would attract the attention of those with ulterior motives, and all their plans would fail.

“Thank you, then.” Vivian smiled and gave a slight bow. “And please thank my brother for me. The next time you see him, tell him I’ve forgiven him for putting that crab on my head.”

“You two…” Uncle Musa laughed heartily and shook his head. He had watched the two siblings grow up and thought of them as his own children. They were good kids, too—not at all like nobles who looked down on their Servants. Their respect for him was genuine. “Don’t worry, I’ll pass on the message.”

“Oh, and there’s one more thing you can tell my brother.” At this, Vivian’s smile vanished, her expression turning serious. “My brother said there was something wrong with the Fran Royal Family. I didn’t really notice anything before, but something happened a few days ago.”

Seeing the young woman’s expression change, Uncle Musa frowned as well and listened quietly.

“As you know, ever since I decided to help my brother, I convinced Professor Victor to let me study under the tutelage of Master Affif.” She gave a wry smile. “Even though they still bicker every day about ‘Anna,’ I have to admit, Master Affif is a very dedicated and responsible teacher.”

“He gave me a ring a while ago.” As she spoke, Vivian raised her right hand, showing a red gemstone ring on her index finger. “He told me at the time that this Magic Item would detect potential danger. If there’s something wrong with a person, the ring will heat up.”

“What happened? Did someone approach you?” Uncle Musa was instantly on alert. If someone had discovered Vivian’s identity, he would have to insist that she immediately cease all her activities in Plantagenet City.

“No, that’s not it.” Vivian shook her head, a puzzled look on her face. “A few days ago, the Second Prince gave me a valuable gift because we had helped him with some matters in the Magic Domain. He gifted me an ‘Eye of the Sky.'”

“The Eye of the Sky? You mean that incredibly valuable blue jewel?”

“That’s the one.” Vivian nodded, then pulled out an orb the size of an eyeball. The object was entirely blue, with faint, tiny white patterns across its surface. At the center of the “eyeball,” where the pupil would be, was an even deeper blue, speckled with tiny white flecks, like stars in the night sky.
