Chapter 377: Chapter 312: You Are the Madman Who Attacked the Cathedral

"Has Marshall already finished your Bone Armor?" Sofia asked, frowning as she watched Little John practicing his swordsmanship in an empty area of the warehouse.

"Yeah, you found out?" Little John continued to swing his longsword, his mind endlessly replaying the swordsmanship of the Grand Commander of the War God’s Holy Order Army from more than ten days ago.

"I just went to see him yesterday to help one of the sisters from the Church get a Pearl Flower repaired." Sofia yawned as she spoke, then stared at Little John. Seeing him repeating the same few Sword Techniques over and over, she asked, "What kind of Swordsmanship is that you’re practicing? Why is it just the same few moves again and again?"

"Just the common Forest Sword Stance." Little John swung his longsword a few more times before shaking his head and ending his practice, holding his sword inverted. His expression was grim, as if he was wrestling with a problem. "Dual swords are so hard to deal with. Not only are their offense-defense transitions fast, but they can also defend with both swords and attack with a third."

"What are you muttering about?" Sofia rubbed her eyes, looking a bit drowsy. "By the way, how did that suit of Bone Armor turn out?"

"It’s excellent. I’ve seen the finished product. The coverage and protection are outstanding. It even has a Magic Crystal Stone embedded in it. He said it has a Defense Magic effect." Little John smiled. "You can tell his craftsmanship is top-notch. I believe him now when he says he used to be a Magic Artisan in Plantagenet City."

"So where’s the Bone Armor?" Sofia blinked.

"Oh," Little John said, spreading his hands. "It’s already been sent off. Took the fastest route, by boat along the Darren River."

"That fast?" Sofia huffed lightly. She had wanted to come see the newly made Armor yesterday. "If the Church hadn’t been so busy these past few days, I would’ve been able to see it."

"The Church?" Little John glanced over at the Druid Maiden when he heard that. "Weren’t you pretty free before? How did you get so busy all of a sudden?"

"Don’t get me started," Sofia said with a dismissive wave, clearly annoyed. "Some two complete idiots decided to go attack Archbishop Luther at the Holy Oak Cathedral. They even damaged the Cathedral’s outer wall. They’re repairing it now, but who knows when it’ll be done. A lot of people from the Church are now searching Torch City for those two audacious bastards, and I’ve been assigned a task as well."

"Huh?" Little John hesitated for a moment, then asked, "The entire Church is searching?"

"Yes," Sofia nodded. "You know, a lot of Adventurers have come to Torch City recently, and some of them are probably very skilled, which makes the investigation more difficult. Still, with Bishop Luther in charge, they should be able to find those two."

"Bishop Luther is in charge?" Little John was instantly on alert. ’Didn’t Mamadou say Bishop Luther was dead?’ He worked to keep his expression from changing and said in a calm tone, "It sounds like those guys didn’t hurt the Bishop. They probably aren’t that strong."

"No, I don’t think so." Sofia’s lazy expression vanished, her face growing serious. "You didn’t see what it was like. I don’t know what Magic those two used, but it was definitely a very sinister spell. The air was filled with an invisible ’Poison,’ and many people from the Church were afflicted. Three of them couldn’t be saved at all; they’ve already passed away."

"They were that powerful?" Little John said as he walked to the wall and sheathed his longsword. At the same time, he asked in a casual tone, "What kind of Magic was it? Do you know?"

"I heard Bishop Luther mention it once. It was supposedly some very powerful Dark Curse Magic. He didn’t elaborate, but he had a lot of us go through physical checkups," Sofia said with a pout, a little dissatisfied. "They scheduled me for a Soul Strength examination three times alone. I don’t even know why they’re checking. With all that time, it would’ve been much better to let me sleep a little longer."

"The Church is just worried something might happen to you all. After all, you said yourself that three people have already died," Little John said, shaking his head with a smile. "That’s a pretty nice benefit. I’m actually a little envious of the support system you have in your Church."

"It’s nothing special," Sofia replied dismissively. "By the way, the old man should still have a Magic Item to make, right? When I visited him, his place was a total mess. Tools were strewn all over the floor. If I hadn’t reacted quickly, I might have knocked over a bottle of acidic saliva from a Magical Beast."

"There is one, the Chameleon Hide. The plan is to make it into a cloak that grants invisibility, but Master Marshall said it would be difficult. Unlike with Bone Armor, activating the special Ability of a Magical Beast hide requires many steps." Little John shrugged, then looked Sofia up and down. "You weren’t feeling drowsy when you went to see the old man?"

"I’m not drowsy all the time," Sofia said, rolling her eyes at Little John. "But I should thank you anyway. The old man told me you gave him ten Gold Coins."

"Oh, I’ve told you before, I have a big appetite," Little John said with a smile. Those ten Gold Coins were from Shire, who had asked him to pass them along to Marshall. For now, Shire didn’t want too many people to know his identity, so he had instructed Little John not to reveal who gave him the money.

"Still, on behalf of those children, thank you." Sofia pursed her lips and gave Little John a slight bow.

Standing by the wall, Little John propped one hand against it and waved the other with a smile. "I’m unworthy of the praise. But speaking of which, you told me before that the Church raised you. What’s your opinion of the Earth and Life Church?"
