Chapter 305: Chapter 276: From 0.5 to 0.8
"Agatha, there’s something I want to ask you," Shire said, standing by the table and looking at the Ghost Witch, who was bent over a drawing. "Have you ever heard of a spell called Group Language Curse?"
"Group Language Curse?" Agatha asked, sighting along the edge of her ruler. "Where did you hear about a spell like that?"
"Uh, just tell me if you have or not."
Agatha put down her pen, straightened up, and tilted her head back in thought. "It sounds like Dark Magic, but I’ve never heard of a ’language curse.’ Is it a spell that makes people mute? The only language-related spells I know are the Truth-Telling Technique and the Silence Curse."
"Could it be a spell you don’t know? Maybe something high-level, or very rare?" Shire asked again, his eyes fixed on Agatha.
"It’s possible. But you know I’ve read countless books on Dark Magic for my research on the Transformation Curse. I know the names and effects of almost every dark spell recorded. As for the Group Language Curse you mentioned... I’m sorry." Agatha shook her head slightly.
"Then... what about the Group Dumbing Curse? You must have heard of that one, right?"
"A Dumbing Curse? And a group one at that? Sounds like something a Cult would cook up." Agatha reached out and smoothed the drawing on her table, her brow furrowed. "Shire, where in the world are you hearing these things? I’ve never heard that name either."
"You haven’t heard of that one either?" Shire pursed his lips. This was unexpected. ’I always assumed the Magic I wrested from Lust would be spells Mages already knew. It seems that’s not the case.’
"Then you’ve heard of Demon Lords, right?" he asked tentatively. The corner of his mouth twitched. ’What a stupid question.’
As expected, Agatha looked at him like he was an idiot. "Of course I’ve heard of the Six Great Demon Lords. Who on this continent hasn’t been taught never to plead with a Demon?"
"Then tell me," Shire paused for a few seconds, choosing his words carefully, "what kind of Magic do Demon Lords use?"
"That I know. They use spells fueled by Evil Power. Magic Energy Burst is a classic example," Agatha said, holding up a finger. "But the two spells you mentioned aren’t recorded in any books I know of. Are you sure someone didn’t dupe you?"
’Is that so? Was I duped?’ Shire frowned. ’No way.’
He discreetly summoned his panel.

’It doesn’t look like I was duped, based on the panel,’ Shire muttered to himself. ’Could it be that these spells aren’t known to humans?’
"What are you muttering about over there?" Agatha asked, picking up her pen again to draw. "If you’re not busy, go check and see if Lame Leg and his crew have finished the firing tests."
"Firing tests?"
"You’re the one who wanted simplified aiming devices. The only way to do that is to fire multiple tests to determine the firing arcs. Then your goblins can use range markers to make simple adjustments," Agatha said with a shrug. "I don’t know if Lame Leg and the others are done yet. Also, what about that nose cone for the projectiles you mentioned? When will those be ready?"
"Er, I already gave the blueprints to Mary. She should have a sample ready in a few days," Shire said quickly. But then he asked again, "Are you really sure you’ve never heard of any kind of language curse Magic?"
"No, I really haven’t," Agatha said, tilting her head to stare at Shire for a few seconds. ’This old classmate of mine must have had a bizarre dream.’ "Have you been reading strange books? One of those trashy romance novels about a commoner girl and a young noble lord?"
"No, of course not!" Shire said, frantically waving his hands. "Even if I were going to read something like that, it’d be about the wicked and debonair life of a noble lord."
"Good, now stop bothering me while I’m drawing." Agatha crumpled up the drawing in front of her and tossed it aside. Shire’s interruption had sent her line flying right off the page.
"Alright, I’ll let you get back to it." Shire could only walk away, his hands clasped behind his back.
’Could it be that these two spells can’t be learned by humans, but are abilities that Lust himself possesses?’ he wondered, muttering to himself as he walked.
Ever since he discovered that Broken Tooth had learned a new Ability by spending a long time hiding in the shadows, Shire had started casually using the Group Dumbing Curse on himself. He only had five uses per day anyway. He would always save the last charge and use it on himself right before bed.
After a few days of this, he discovered the Evil Energy Clone that Caocao had "snatched" from the Feathered Serpent Evil God. This discovery only strengthened his resolve to keep casting Dumbing Magic on himself daily.
Then today, as he was about to cast it on himself, he was surprised to find a change on his panel.
’This Blessing of the War God is no joke. I actually comprehended a new spell on my own,’ he thought, rubbing his chin as he returned to the underground Fortress. ’I first got the Dumbing Curse from that strange Magic Book, and now I’ve comprehended a new Curse Magic... and it seems like the kind of spell that’s unique to a Demon Lord.’
