The Forensic Doctor Better Than a Detective
Chapter 976 - 503: Gains from Out-of-Town Investigation
At 7:40 p.m., the street lamps had already lit up early, casting a yellowish glow in the deepening twilight.
Zhang Biao led three team members and arrived on time outside the gate of Guangbei Electronics Factory.
As soon as they were standing at the entrance, a police car smoothly drove near and slowly stopped by the roadside.
The car door opened, and an officer, fully equipped, swiftly got out and walked toward them.
"Mr. Zhang, welcome, welcome."
The voice reached them before the man did, carrying a tone of humor and familiarity.
Zhang Biao immediately stepped forward, reaching out his hand for a firm handshake.
"Old classmate, it’s been such a long time! Seeing you in full gear, you’re still so valiant and unchanged."
"In our job, isn’t it always about dancing on the knife’s edge?"
"Not quite like you all, handling incidents and mediating disputes. Though cumbersome, at least it’s more stable."
"Don’t say that," the man said, patting his arm, "In recent years, arrest tasks have been easier; the hardest part is grassroots mediation. Household matters and disputes can really give you a headache. Look at my hair, it’s turned gray by dozens of strands from mediation woes!"
After a simple exchange, Zhang Biao straightened his expression and said, "This time it’s truly thanks to you for coordinating resources; otherwise, we wouldn’t have been able to come over so smoothly."
The officer waved his hand, tone calm: "No need for thanks, it’s my duty."
"I already contacted the human resources at Guangbei Electronics Factory. The person in charge is waiting in the office, and everything has been arranged."
Zhang Biao noticed his duty equipment and asked, "By the way, are you on duty today?"
"If you’re busy, you don’t need to accompany us; we can handle it ourselves."
"Once this is done, let’s have a proper gathering."
"Indeed on duty, but there’s nothing urgent right now." The officer nodded, not being too polite, "You go ahead; I won’t be going in."
"The factory here often cooperates with our work and is quite familiar. If there’s anything else that needs coordination later, just contact me anytime."
"Alright, thanks, old classmate. I’ll take the team inside then."
Zhang Biao then led his team toward the electronic factory’s entrance.
The guard had obviously been informed in advance, allowing them in after a brief confirmation.
Following the signs, they eventually found the brass plaque reading "Director of Human Resources Office" at the end of the corridor.
Zhang Biao raised his hand and knocked on the door three times. A gentle "come in" came from inside.
The four of them entered, only to see a middle-aged woman with rimmed glasses, neatly dressed, standing up from behind the desk.
She smiled slightly and said, "You must be the police officers from Dongcheng City, right?"
Zhang Biao stepped forward and extended his right hand: "Hello, I’m Zhang Biao from the Dongcheng City Criminal Investigation Unit, here leading the investigation."
"Thank you for waiting for us so late."
"You’re welcome; it’s our joint responsibility to cooperate with the inquiry."
Zhang Biao paused briefly before getting to the point: "We would like to find out if there was a woman named Jiang Qin employed at your company 10 years ago."
"If it’s convenient, we hope to access her employment records and related files."
Upon hearing "10 years ago," the manager slightly furrowed her brows and pondered, "Our company was founded 20 years ago, and the personnel system underwent a complete upgrade five years ago."
"However, we will certainly do our best to assist in the search."
"Please hold on; I’ll check in the system right away."
She turned to the computer screen and opened the internal personnel query system as she spoke.
"Do you have Jiang Qin’s identity information, such as her ID number?"
Zhang Biao took a step forward, retrieved his phone from his pocket, and handed it to her, showing the prepared photo of the document.
"Yes, this is a copy of her ID card."
The manager took the phone, examined it carefully, and entered the ID number into the query interface.
In less than two minutes, the system displayed the search results.
She adjusted her glasses and softly read out the information on the screen: "Jiang Qin, female, hired at nineteen years old, began working in Electronic Workshop No. 3 ten years ago."
She looked up at Zhang Biao and his team, confirming, "Indeed, we have her employment record; she was once our employee."
Then she added apologetically, "However, with so much time having passed, personnel changes over the past decade have been significant. Most old employees have either left or been reassigned, making it difficult to find relevant direct contacts."
"If you need further details about her work situation or colleagues, some effort might be required."
After saying this, she added with a touch of emotion, "Frankly, even as the head of Human Resources, I’ve witnessed several administration changes over the years."
Zhang Biao nodded understandingly and smiled, responding, "No problem, just help as much as you can."
"If there are any old colleagues from that workshop still at the factory, please help us contact them."
"If they’ve left, then so be it."
He paused briefly before politely saying, "With this, we might have to trouble you a lot with the personnel information sorting."
"No worries, I’ll do my best to help you find the still-employed old employees."
As she spoke, she moved the mouse, prepared to close the current query page, and switch to another internal system.
Just then, Zhang Biao’s eyes inadvertently glanced at the screen—the screen clearly showing Jiang Qin’s hiring and resignation dates, with only a six-month gap in between.
"Hmm? She resigned just six months later?"
