"No problem." One of the officers gently patted his waist, speaking softly, "We’re all armed."

Qin Feng nodded, and the group seamlessly moved through the crowd, skirting around the edge of the pond.

The path along the fish pond was difficult to traverse, overgrown with weeds, and felt mushy underfoot.

Five minutes later, they approached Li Hui from behind. Li Hui was entirely focused on tinkering with a water pump, one hand pressing the pump body, the other hand twisting some part, completely unaware of the people behind him.

Qin Feng crouched down, maintaining a certain distance from Li Hui, and casually spoke, "Boss, are you busy?"

"We’re a few folks from the city, looking to buy some fish from you. Is it convenient?"

Li Hui didn’t lift his head, continuing his task without pause, casually replying, "Buying fish? Of course it’s convenient. I’m in business, how could I not sell fish? I have as much as you want, today’s a big harvest, plenty for everyone!"

Before he finished speaking, Qin Feng subtly gestured with his mouth to the two officers beside him.

The two men understood instantly, taking two steps forward and positioning themselves on either side of Li Hui, quietly blocking his way.

Qin Feng stood up, looking down at Li Hui in the water, speaking softly but clearly, "Let’s go find a place to talk in the car."

Hearing this, Li Hui’s hands froze abruptly. He quickly raised his head, his gaze sweeping across the faces of the three men in front of him, then focusing on their right hands at their waists — three hands, all pressed on that spot.

Li Hui’s face changed drastically, his pupils contracting slightly, his voice tightening, "What are you doing?"

"Don’t you know in your heart what this is about?"

Qin Feng’s tone remained steady, "We’re from the criminal investigation team, these are your fellow villagers and neighbors all around."

"If you try to run or confront us, sorry, we’ll have to draw our weapons."

"At that point, it’ll look bad. If you cooperate, I’ll try to save you some face."

"We’ll discuss the specifics back in the interrogation room."

Li Hui stood in knee-deep water, his Adam’s apple bobbing twice.

He glanced at the three men on shore, then turned his head to scan the onlooking villagers in the distance — they were still focused on the fish, not noticing what was happening here.

After two minutes of silence, he spoke, "Fine, I’ll go with you. But..."

He paused, lowering his voice, "Please show me some respect."

"The village is small, everyone knows each other. I’ll have to come back to do business in the future."

"Besides, I’m an innocent person, I’m not afraid to clarify things with you."

"Whether you’re innocent or not isn’t up to you, it’s up to the law and the evidence," Qin Feng replied without expression, "Let’s go. I don’t want to make things hard for you."

Li Hui said nothing further, placing the water pump on the edge of the pond, turning to walk up the bank, calling out, "Hey brother, keep an eye on the pond for me, I’ll be back soon."

The young man looked up, not asking much, and readily replied, "Sure, you go ahead, I’ll take care of it."

"Once you get the fish up, handle them quickly. Don’t let them die, they’ll be worthless then." Li Hui instructed again.

"Got it, brother, you go ahead." The young man reassured him.

Only then did Li Hui step onto the bank, bending down to remove his waterproof pants, casually hanging them on a branch by the pond.

He then left with Li Jian and the others!
