Chapter 71: Chapter 71: The Face-Slapping Came Too Fast, Like a Tornado
The newly arrived Platinum Giant Lion simply couldn’t understand. He just couldn’t resist jumping through a hoop of fire—so why was he being besieged by the other beasts?
After suffering a miserable 1v3 defeat, the Platinum Giant Lion finally managed to escape the jaws of the three ferocious beasts and retreated to a relatively safe spot.
"ROAR!"
The Platinum Giant Lion tried to scare off the tiger, leopard, and eagle in front of him. Unfortunately, every single one of them was a boss-level existence in the jungle. They weren’t easily intimidated.
"AWOO!"
"MEOW!"
"SCREECH!"
Aside from the Iron-eating Beast, who was munching on steamed cornbread in the background, Cedriel and the others refused to yield an inch. If you dare roar at me, I’ll roar right back!
While roaring back, they didn’t forget to continue ganging up on the Platinum Giant Lion. It seemed the aftereffects of watching The Lion King last time, combined with him stealing the spotlight during today’s performance, had created both new and old grudges. The Beast Beasts minded this a great deal.
"ROAR... ROAR!"
The disparity in strength was too vast, and the Platinum Giant Lion’s cries grew increasingly miserable. His originally pristine, clean, and smooth fur had been bitten into a tangled mess. However, no blood was actually drawn. Clearly, Liang He had taught them well, and they had shown mercy.
"AWOO!"
The Mojin King Tiger thought, "How dare you steal my spotlight and make me lose face in front of the two-legged beast!"
"SCREECH!"
The Canglan Hunting Eagle thought, "How dare you steal my brother’s thunder! Watch me peck all your fur off!"
"MEOW!"
The Mengji Snow Leopard thought, "The two-legged beast was already captivated by you last time, and now you dare to take it a step further? Then don’t blame me for being ruthless!"
The furry creatures roared one after another. Liang He, who was rushing over to resolve the conflict, felt as if her eardrums were going to shatter before she even got close.
"Cedriel! Lanton! Kuang Ye!"
Afraid her voice would be drowned out, Liang He had no choice but to shout their names at the top of her lungs. Fortunately, she held a lot of weight in the hearts of the furry creatures. Upon hearing her voice, the three beasts, their mouths full of fur, immediately turned to look at her.
Trapped in the middle, the Platinum Giant Lion looked like a giant, ravaged, and broken plush toy. He sat there looking utterly bewildered; the whole lion was in a bad state.
"ROAR! ROAR!"
Well, this was the first time Liang He had ever seen a lion crying his lungs out in such a deep, subwoofer-like voice.
"Ahem, it’s almost time for dinner. How about a truce for now?"
Although Liang He knew they were just playing around, the Platinum Giant Lion’s adopter was still watching from afar, so she couldn’t show too much favoritism.
"AWOO~"
As soon as he saw Liang He, the Mojin King Tiger immediately stepped forward looking pitiful, begging for pets and comfort. Liang He quickly gathered his big, adorable tiger head into her arms.
"Alright, alright, I know Cedriel has been wronged. Let me give you a hug and a pat on the head. I’ll make you something delicious when we get back, okay?"
Liang He gently coaxed the Mojin King Tiger. The Platinum Giant Lion, who already felt immensely wronged, watched this with envy. His emerald-like eyes fixated on the figure hugging the big tiger, as if he were pondering something.
"WHIMPER..."
The Platinum Giant Lion let out a soft cry, which immediately drew three pairs of hostile glares. Even the Mojin King Tiger, who was nestled in Liang He’s arms, turned his head to stare him down.
"SOB..."
He merely wanted to attract the two-legged beast’s attention and get some comfort too. What was wrong with that?!
The tiger, leopard, and eagle thought, "What’s wrong? You have the nerve to ask what’s wrong? Clearly, we didn’t teach you enough of a lesson!"
Seeing a new Beast Beast blatantly trying to vie for favor made the already disgruntled furry creatures even more united. Intending to properly teach the new kid a lesson, they began to close in on the Platinum Giant Lion. Terrified and desperate, he scrambled blindly and hid directly behind Liang He.
"WHINE~"
He thought, "They’re bullying me!"
The Platinum Giant Lion’s familiar way of tattling left Liang He not knowing whether to laugh or cry. For such a massive lion to seek a backer and hide behind a human—didn’t he find it the slightest bit embarrassing?
However, what Liang He considered par for the course was extremely shocking to Eureka, who stood not far away.
"His Highness... No, Cyril is very proud. He would never hide behind anyone else. Moreover, after transforming into a ferocious beast, he doesn’t even trust me anymore."
Yet now, Cyril had naturally hidden behind a human he was meeting for the first time. This astonished Eureka greatly.
He suddenly recalled his previous conversation with Cyril, feeling that this tsundere Little Crown Prince of his had slapped his own face a bit too quickly.
"Liang He is always the most special one in their hearts. Isn’t that exactly what His Majesty the King saw, which is why he insisted on sending the Crown Prince to the reserve?"
Huo An had long been immune to this sort of situation; otherwise, he wouldn’t have rashly agreed to the King’s request.
"Big lion, is your name Cyril?"
Hearing his name, the Platinum Giant Lion, sporting a messy mane of fur, cautiously poked his head out. His green eyes looked at Liang He in confusion. He wondered why she knew his name.
"ROAR?"
"Cyril, how about you apologize to Cedriel? He prepared for today’s performance for a long time, so he’s very sad."
Hearing Liang He start reasoning with the Platinum Giant Lion, the approaching Eureka raised an eyebrow slightly. He thought she was overthinking things; the tsundere Crown Prince, even after transforming into a beast, could never...
"ROAR..."
Under Eureka’s shocked gaze, the Platinum Giant Lion actually revealed half of his body from behind Liang He and let out a soft cry at the Mojin King Tiger, clearly apologizing.
"HMPH~"
As the recipient of the apology, the Mojin King Tiger let out a soft, nasal snort. He genuinely stopped chasing and beating up the Platinum Giant Lion. The Mengji Snow Leopard and the Canglan Hunting Eagle also let him off the hook out of respect for Liang He.
"You really are my good babies! You have such big hearts!"
Liang He gave them a thumbs up in approval!
Hearing the praise, the Mengji Snow Leopard and the others felt a little embarrassed. They had originally thought Liang He would be upset about them ganging up on the Platinum Giant Lion. Now, Liang He’s reaction made them even more convinced that they hadn’t put their trust in the wrong two-legged beast!
Having finally resolved the conflict between the furry creatures, Liang He breathed a sigh of relief. She happened to catch a glimpse of the Platinum Giant Lion staring fixedly at the flaming hoop, which was now only burning on its top half. A restless urge shone in his leonine eyes, and she suddenly had a great idea.
"Cedriel’s performance hasn’t started yet. Why not jump through the ring of fire together with Cyril and do a collaborative show?"
Having spent a long time with Liang He, the Mojin King Tiger could understand most of her words. However, the Platinum Giant Lion only heard the words ’jump through the ring of fire’ and immediately became exceptionally excited.
"AWOO~"
For the sake of the two-legged beast, Sai De, the King of the Jungle, Lier Tiger reluctantly agreed.
"ROAR! ROAR!"
He thought, "Jump the ring of fire! Jump the ring of fire!"
"Then it’s decided! I’ll record it for you later and let all the big brothers and sisters who like you watch it together, okay?"
While the hoop of fire was still burning, Liang He set up the filming equipment and then directed the tiger and the lion to begin their performance.
Aside from the basic fire hoop jumping, she even put on specialized gloves, held up the unignited lower half of the hoop, and spread her arms wide to let them jump simultaneously.
"Wow! Liang He is amazing! She got the Platinum Giant Lion to blend in with the other ferocious beasts so quickly. They’re already mixing it up together!"
Well, they certainly did "mix it up"—quite literally.
The onlookers who stayed to watch the spectacle applauded them one after another. This made the Mojin King Tiger and the Platinum Giant Lion extremely delighted. They jumped with increasing vigor, only stopping when the flames thoroughly burned out.
Eureka felt very gratified watching the Crown Prince play so happily and with such satisfaction. However...
"I wonder what kind of expression the Crown Prince will have when he passes his Evolutionary Stage and discovers that his messy state was trending on social media?"
