Chapter 45: Chapter 45: Netizens Addicted to Shipping

As the only two people kept in the dark who genuinely acted out their roles, Xu Yi and Hoder were thoroughly depressed when they woke up and heard that Liang He and Huo An had teamed up to catch the mole. Why didn’t they include them in something as fun as catching a mole?! It was too much!

"Only by mixing truth with lies can you earn someone’s trust. Doctor Xu, you and Hoder were crucial to this play," Liang He said, expertly soothing their dissatisfaction. With just those simple words, they felt much better.

"That’s true. Since we needed Dass to lower his guard, we couldn’t make it look too fake," Xu Yi agreed. He had only just learned that the mole was the normally amicable deputy director of the control room. You really couldn’t judge a book by its cover.

"So, Dass really died at Cedriel’s hands?" Compared to Dass being the mole, Hoder was far more interested in how the man had actually died.

"In his mouth, to be exact."

Speaking of which, Liang He suddenly stood up and walked over to the soundly sleeping Mojin King Tiger. "Cedriel, you have to brush your teeth for extra time today!"

She worried that since Dass was such a rotten person, who knew how many viruses he might have been carrying? What if Cedriel got infected?!

"AWOOO..." With a helpless expression, Cedriel drooped his tail and followed behind Liang He, waiting obediently for her to brush his teeth.

Seeing this, Hoder found it incredibly hard to connect the beast before him with the ferocious predator that had bitten Dass to death the night before. Standing in front of Liang He was clearly just a well-behaved, adorable big cat!

"Oh right, I almost forgot my actual job!" Xu Yi scrambled up from the carpet and dashed toward the medical room to give the Silver Moon Wolf another check-up.

"Even looking at it a second time, it feels unbelievable," he muttered. Holding the test reports that showed significant improvement across both sets of data, Xu Yi marveled at the Silver Moon Wolf’s astonishing healing abilities while uploading the documents to the medical department of the Federal Animal Research Institute.

Finally having a moment to spare, Liang He had time to check the feedback on the video she had uploaded the previous night. As soon as she opened the Star Network interface on her Light Brain, she heard continuous BEEP BEEP sounds. Clearly, many people had left comments.

"The download count is this high?!" Liang He exclaimed, experiencing the feeling of becoming rich overnight once again. She was amazed by the popularity of the fluffy animals, but seeing so many people love them made her truly happy.

After withdrawing her accumulated copyright earnings and buying a massive pile of useful and useless items for the animals, Liang He finally started reading the netizens’ comments.

[Awesome! The Mojin King Tiger truly lives up to being a big cat. He’s a great fetcher—you can’t see the shadow of the Federation’s Marshal in him at all.]

[Haha, the person above sure knows how to be sarcastic. By the way, the Canglan Hunting Eagle was too ruthless, making his partner run around in circles constantly fetching the ball. I’m dying of laughter!]

[If you ask me, the best one was the last guy. What the heck was that outfit? You can’t blame the Mengji Snow Leopard for beating him up; he really was asking for it.]

The three pairs of partners each had their own unique charm. Although Liang He and the Mojin King Tiger cooperated flawlessly and won the round, Xu Yi and Hoder were undeniably the comedic relief. The audience was nearly laughing themselves to death over them.

Then, amidst the roar of laughter, someone noticed a key detail.

[Hey? Did none of you notice the mask the last guy was wearing? It looks like a woman, and a very beautiful one at that!]

[It’s true! I thought she was some idol or star, but I don’t recognize her at all. With my radar for attractive faces, that shouldn’t happen!]

[Friends, I have a bold guess. Could the person on this mask be... the Fur Raising Officer?!]

Liang He hadn’t expected that a moment of carelessness would blow her cover. Because she subconsciously felt that Hoder was already wearing a mask, she had forgotten to blur his face. The problem was, the video was clearly shot from a distance and was as blurry as a bowl of porridge. How on earth could they tell if her facial features were pretty or not?

Remaining fairly calm about her identity being exposed, Liang He silently turned off her Light Brain. She had no idea that in corners of the internet she didn’t know about, people were already shipping her with the fluffy animals.

[AHHH! The Marshal actually played fetch just to woo the Breeder! Keep spoiling her!]

[Admiral Kuang Ye and the Breeder are so shippable too! Even in an aggressive state, he immediately submitted the moment she called out to him! I declare that the ’Wild Crane’ ship is the absolute best!]

[Our Commander is the most suitable for the Breeder, okay?! The emotionally stable Lanton is simply top-tier husband material!]

Unaware that she already had ship names, Liang He naturally didn’t know that someone on the Star Network was quietly monitoring her every move. For a hunter who always demanded a one-hit kill to complete a mission, understanding the target’s activities in advance was absolutely necessary.

Elias leaned back lazily in his chair, his long, slender fingers lightly brushing his lower lip as he watched the video posted by the Fur Raising Officer with immense interest. Combining it with the photo Valken had sent him, the image of a petite, fragile, yet gentle and kind girl popped into his mind.

"Bullying a little girl. Heh." He had to admit, he was truly looking forward to it. He looked forward to watching the light in her eyes extinguish as she plunged into an endless abyss of darkness.

Elias gently stroked the pretty face in the photo. His amber eyes darkened to pitch black, and a wicked smirk curled the corners of his lips. "Liang He, we will meet very soon."

"ACHOO!"

Currently patrolling the perimeter with Hoder, Liang He suddenly sneezed. She frowned slightly and pinched her tingling nose.

"You aren’t getting sick, are you?" Hoder quickly asked with concern. His impression of Blue Star people was still stuck on the idea that they were fragile, prone to illness, and hard to cure once sick. He was terrified that if something happened to Liang He, Huo An would use him as a punching bag again.

"No, someone is probably just talking about me," Liang He said, having stopped after just one sneeze. She waved her hand slightly to show she was fine. She muttered inwardly, wondering who was thinking about her; it definitely didn’t feel like a good thing.

"Is that actually a thing?" Hearing this, Hoder scratched his head in confusion, but seeing that Liang He really hadn’t sneezed again, he didn’t press the matter. "By the way, I heard that traces of an Iron-eating Beast were spotted in the third service area."

An Iron-eating Beast? Wasn’t that just a panda from her homeland? Liang He’s eyes instantly lit up. Grabbing Hoder’s sleeve, she curiously bombarded him with questions.

"Really? In the third service area? Can I go see it?" Viewing a panda up close—she might even get to pet the national treasure!

"It’s true. And there were two Iron-eating Beasts, one large and one small. However, it seems they haven’t been seen for the past few days." Seeing her so excited, Hoder almost couldn’t bear to burst her bubble, but he still had to shake his head regretfully. "They probably hid away to hibernate because of the snow. You’d better wait until spring."

Hearing him say this, Liang He felt it made sense, but she still couldn’t help feeling a bit disappointed and worried.

"The weather is so cold. I wonder if the Iron-eating Beasts hoarded enough bamboo. What if they go hungry?" As a Blue Star person, she naturally had an extremely high innate fondness for the black-and-white pandas. Facing the increasingly cold winter, Liang He was already feeling heartache for the giant pandas before even seeing them with her own eyes.

Looking at her worried face, Hoder couldn’t help but sigh. It was no wonder the animals all gravitated toward Liang He. With a genuine heart like hers, who wouldn’t cherish her?

"How about we drop by the third service area when the weather gets a little better?"

"Good idea! Let’s not wait—let’s go right now!" Liang He immediately turned the hovercraft around and contacted the stationmaster of the third service area, saying she wanted to look for traces of the Iron-eating Beast.

However, just as the Light Brain connected, she heard a shocked exclamation from the other end.

"What?! An Iron-eating Beast broke into the service area?!"
