Chapter 242: Chapter 242: Even Governor Huo Knows How to Threaten a Beast with Tattling Now?
On the azure sea, a female Killer Whale swam slowly near the surface. What hindered her speed was nothing else but the Little Tiger Whale resting on her back, barely clinging to life.
Without the Tiger Whale Mother’s support, the exhausted calf would likely have been submerged and sunk to the bottom of the ocean.
"SQUEAK~"
Grandma Tiger Whale was communicating with the Tiger Whale Mother, telling her not to fear Liang He’s approach.
"SQUEAK!"
The Little Tiger Whale was even younger than the Tiger Whale Baby, seemingly born not long ago. As a mother, the Tiger Whale Mother possessed an instinctual desire to protect her young. It was perfectly normal for her to resist Liang He, a human.
Fortunately, Grandma Tiger Whale held great prestige within the clan. After confirming that Liang He posed no danger, the Tiger Whale Mother allowed her to approach.
"May I take a look at it?"
Seeing the Little Tiger Whale lying on the Tiger Whale Mother’s back, in constant danger of being washed away by the waves, a flash of pity and tenderness crossed Liang He’s eyes.
Animals are always more sensitive to emotions, and the Tiger Whale Mother naturally caught this trace of affection from Liang He. She hesitated for a moment, glanced at Grandma Tiger Whale, and ultimately chose to move closer to Liang He.
"SQUEAK~"
"Thank you."
Sitting on the boat, Liang He leaned in as close as she could to the Little Tiger Whale on the mother’s back. She performed a simple, basic examination on it and discovered that it was highly likely suffering from poisoning.
"Poisoned again?"
For some reason, Liang He suddenly thought of the poisoned water source on Sky Shining Star. Now, discovering poisoned animals on Skalan Star—was it really just a coincidence?
"However, the toxin in its body seems somewhat different."
The poison that afflicted the Iron-eating Beasts caused immediate comas, gradually worsened, and ultimately led to death. In contrast, the Little Tiger Whale remained relatively conscious, but its body was growing increasingly weak. Yet, waiting for death wide awake was actually a far more terrifying ordeal.
"My antidote is on the Sea Ship. I’m afraid I’ll have to make a trip back."
Furthermore, Liang He needed to verify the specific toxin inside the Little Tiger Whale. Although it was unlikely that her antidote would cause any adverse reactions, the calf was still very young and weak. If the remedy wasn’t tailored to its symptoms and triggered other complications, it would be a disaster.
"Could you take me back to the Sea Ship? I might have a way to save it." To make it easier for the Killer Whales to understand, Liang He supplemented her words with hand gestures. "If you are willing to trust me, I’d like to bring it aboard the Sea Ship for an examination."
Liang He pointed at the Little Tiger Whale, then turned to look in the direction of the Sea Ship.
Fortunately, the Tiger Whale Clan was indeed incredibly intelligent and quickly understood her meaning.
"SQUEAK!"
Grandma Tiger Whale needed to discuss it with the Tiger Whale Mother.
Obediently sitting in her boat, which was being supported on the back of the Tiger Whale Baby, Liang He wasn’t in a rush and silently waited for their decision. Lanton, who had been circling in the air, saw her expression and immediately knew her heart had softened again; she wanted to save this Little Tiger Whale.
"Liang He, I’ve locked onto your position. I’m bringing people over to find you now," Huo An’s voice came over the communicator. Before setting off, he had turned on the comms to prevent them from accidentally missing each other.
Initially wanting to say she didn’t need to be picked up, Liang He reconsidered when she thought of the Little Tiger Whale. If the Tiger Whale Mother refused to let it go, she could at least try feeding it an antidote first.
"Brother Hao, before you come, go to my room and grab my backpack. Cedriel knows where it is," Liang He replied. She had placed her specially formulated antidote in the backpack, leaving it behind because she anticipated going into the water.
"Alright, I’ll go get it right away."
Although Huo An didn’t know why Liang He wanted him to fetch her backpack, out of trust, he went upstairs without hesitation to retrieve it.
Hearing Liang He mention him over the communicator, Cedriel naturally followed right behind Huo An. Even when Huo An successfully found the backpack and prepared to board the boat with the crew, Cedriel smoothly followed them aboard.
"Governor Huo, is Cedriel... coming with us too?"
Almost everyone present knew the inside story about the famous Federation Marshal, as there were Beastmen living in the ocean as well. However, no matter how formidable he was, he was ultimately a king of the land. Once in the water, he would likely struggle to cope.
"He’s worried about Liang He. If he wants to tag along, let him." Compared to the others’ concerns, Huo An remained as calm as ever. He even cast a meaningful glance at Cedriel, who was sitting obediently on the boat. "Cedriel, if you dare cause any trouble, I’ll tattle on you the moment I see Liang He, understand?"
Upon hearing the first half of the sentence, Cedriel’s golden tiger eyes showed utter disdain. But as soon as the second half was spoken, he rolled his eyes so hard they almost reached the heavens. He couldn’t believe this guy, Huo An, actually dared to use Liang He to threaten him!
"AWOO!"
Well, this threat... was indeed very effective.
Seeing Cedriel lie down to the side in frustration, looking annoyed yet helpless, the smile in Huo An’s eyes deepened.
"Then let’s head out."
As they successfully embarked on their journey to find Liang He, President Lucas stood on the Sea Ship, gazing anxiously at their boat and praying for their swift return.
"Who knows what’s going on with Liang He. Are there no spare communicators?"
Because Huo An and his team needed to stay in constant contact with Liang He, they had taken the main communicator with them. As a result, the others couldn’t get timely updates. Now that Huo An had just left, anxiety had already begun to set in.
"There should be. I’ll go look for them."
The communicators weren’t strictly limited to one-on-one communication; it was just that due to the emergency earlier, they had only grabbed two. Since Ao Ke was more familiar with the equipment, he took charge of finding the spare devices.
"The Killer Whales’ behavior this time is far too abnormal. Goring, you should look into the cause as well." President Lucas looked at Deputy Governor Goring, his face filled with worry, clearly unoptimistic about their current predicament.
"Do you mean... the Killer Whales’ strange behavior might be connected to the Mysterious Sea Area?" Leila, quickly catching onto President Lucas’s implication, answered before anyone else.
Belatedly realizing the truth, Deputy Governor Goring broke out in a cold sweat. "If that’s the case, doesn’t it mean that tremendous danger lurks within the Mysterious Sea Area?"
Killer Whales were famously intelligent. Anything capable of giving them such a strong sense of crisis was absolutely not to be underestimated.
"Then does that mean Liang He’s plan to have the Killer Whales investigate the Mysterious Sea Area has to be scrapped?"
Since the Killer Whales had already sensed the danger, they certainly wouldn’t risk their lives to help humans investigate the conditions in the Mysterious Sea Area. Thus, they were plunged back into a dilemma.
"It’s still unclear. Let’s not make wild guesses and wait until Liang He and the others return," President Lucas said.
Perhaps because so many miracles had occurred around Liang He, President Lucas wasn’t entirely certain right now. In short, managing Goring and the others’ expectations in advance was much better than having them face disappointment later if Liang He said it wouldn’t work. In a way, President Lucas was also protecting Liang He.
"SQUEAK SQUEAK SQUEAK~"
Meanwhile, alerted by the Tiger Whale Baby, Liang He—who had been waiting for Grandma Tiger Whale and the Tiger Whale Mother—finally saw them swimming back. They had probably stepped away because they sensed she could understand their language and wanted to discuss things privately.
"Have you made your decision?"
