Chapter 196: Chapter 196: Letting the Brat Know the ’Sinister Nature of Human Hearts

Silver Feather stood to the side, looking completely unbothered. After all, even she had felt an intense sense of closeness to Liang He at first sight, and Yin Qi’s instincts as a fierce beast in his Beast Form were even sharper. It could only be said that Liang He’s very existence was simply too wonderful.

"What are you two doing here?"

Hoder was helping Liang He carry medicinal ingredients. Just as he reached the door, he spotted Silver Feather and Silver Shuttle acting stealthily and muttering to each other. Out of curiosity, he circled around behind them.

"AH!"

Hoder’s sudden appearance badly startled Silver Shuttle.

"Hoder! Do you not make any noise when you walk?!"

SMACK!

Before Silver Shuttle could continue interrogating Hoder, he was promptly slapped by the esteemed Holy Daughter.

"Can’t you keep your voice down? Even Silver Li is more obedient than you!"

Silver Feather cautiously peeked into the medical room, just in time to catch Liang He’s adorable, confused head tilt. She quickly offered an apologetic smile.

"Little He, you keep going. I’ll drag this brat away right now!"

With that, Silver Feather ignored the still-dazed Silver Shuttle, grabbed him by the back of his collar, and dragged him out. They happened to run into Silver Li, so she simply tossed the boy over to him.

"Silver Li, perfect timing. Keep Little Shuozi in line for me. He’s jumpy, makes a fuss over nothing, and lacks any sense of composure."

Silver Shuttle thought indignantly, "Fine, fine, you’re the composed one! Hoder is the one who intentionally scared me, yet somehow it’s my fault?!"

"I... MMMPH!"

Before Silver Shuttle could argue, the quick-reflexed Silver Li clamped a hand over his mouth and dragged him away against his will.

As for the main culprit, Hoder, he was also entirely caught off guard by the rapid chain of events. Carrying the medicinal ingredients, he watched helplessly as Silver Shuttle disappeared from sight.

"Uh... Holy Daughter, it was my fault for scaring you two just now. How about... you let Silver Shuttle off the hook?" he asked. The kid was just too pitiful.

"It’s fine! You don’t need to worry about him," Silver Feather waved her hand dismissively. "I still haven’t settled the score with him for sneaking out of the temple. It’s about time he learned a little about the sinister nature of people."

Although Liang He had ultimately decided to let Silver Shuttle off the hook for being hired by the Rebel Army to capture her, that was a separate matter. Silver Feather still needed to discipline him for sneaking out of the temple in the first place.

"Alright... then I’ll deliver these ingredients to Liang He first."

Seeing that she wouldn’t be swayed, and knowing it wasn’t his place to push the issue, Hoder wisely shut his mouth. He offered a silent prayer for Silver Shuttle, hoping the boy would be able to fend for himself.

Hello Poison had procured a massive amount of medicinal ingredients for Liang He, some of which were not just for creating the toxin-suppressing pills. Pressed for time, Liang He could only ask Hoder to cross-reference her list, moving the necessary ingredients into the medical room and leaving the rest in the storage room.

"Liang He, all the ingredients on the list are right here. Is there anything else I can help with?" Hoder snuck a glance at Yin Qi out of the corner of his eye. He was actually incredibly curious about why Liang He’s constitution was so special, to the point that even the Divine Son of the temple was so easily won over by her.

"Could you call Lan Zhuo over for me?"

She needed to produce a large quantity of pills. Doing it alone would waste too much time, so it was better to call Lan Zhuo to help; two people were always faster than one.

As for why she chose Lan Zhuo over Xu Yi, it was partly because Xu Yi’s expertise leaned toward the Veterinarian path, making him slightly less adept at experimental research. The other reason was that she could tell Lan Zhuo was deeply fascinated by the pills she had developed previously. However, for personal reasons, she couldn’t share her secrets with him, so she could only try to make it up to him by teaching him about these alternative pills.

"Sure, I’ll contact him right away."

Just as Liang He had predicted, Lan Zhuo—who was completely immersed in his research and deaf to the outside world—didn’t need any convincing from Xu Yi or Hoder. The moment he heard that Liang He wanted his help making pills, he hopped onto an aircraft and headed straight for the Seventh Service Area.

By the time he arrived, Liang He had already arranged every ingredient in the exact sequential order required for the process, saving Lan Zhuo from making any mistakes.

"Liang He, I..."

Having rushed all the way there, Lan Zhuo actually began to hesitate upon entering the medical room, displaying a rare sense of nervousness.

"There’s no need to be nervous. Come over here and watch me demonstrate it first."

Liang He gently reassured Lan Zhuo, detailing the steps bit by bit. As Lan Zhuo gradually immersed himself in the research, his mindset steadied. When Liang He’s first batch of pills finally took shape, he was even more excited than she was.

"The toxin-suppressing pills you made earlier have already entered the trial phase," Lan Zhuo explained. "We specially isolated the animals that took them, and the results have been excellent."

Logically speaking, the longer a poison lingered in the body, the faster its toxicity would flare up in the later stages. Let alone Lan Zhuo and Xu Yi, even the Animal Research Institute had been completely helpless against it, forced to watch the animals succumb to death. But Liang He’s appearance had broken the stalemate, bringing new hope to the creatures.

"Hello Poison’s formula primarily relies on fighting poison with poison, allowing two distinct toxins to reach a balance within the body," Liang He noted. "But don’t worry, the poison he uses isn’t overly harmful. It won’t hurt the animals."

Hello Poison was considered a Poison Doctor. He only liked researching poisons; even when saving lives, he used poison. His approach was the exact opposite of Chou the Pharmacist’s, yet they both led to the same result through different paths.

"It can actually be done like this?"

Liang He’s words undoubtedly opened the door to a whole new world for Lan Zhuo. His eyes lit up brilliantly. Suddenly, he deeply desired for Liang He to introduce her friend to him, thinking it might just allow him to break through his current mindset and discover a new direction for his research.

"The traditional Chinese medicine of Blue Star has been passed down for thousands of years. Its methods are incredibly complex, making it almost impossible to study thoroughly. Hello Poison simply chose one specific path to follow."

The same was true for Chou the Pharmacist. Everyone’s energy was ultimately limited. Rather than knowing a little about everything, those who pursued perfection preferred to follow a single path to its absolute limit and achieve the pinnacle of mastery.

That was exactly why Liang He had said that if even Hello Poison and Chou the Pharmacist couldn’t find a solution, then no one could develop an antidote.

"Let’s put that aside for now. Quickly memorize what I just said. The sooner we finish making these pills, the more time we’ll buy for the animals."

If she genuinely had to explain the underlying principles, Liang He could talk until she was blue in the face and still not finish. The most pressing matter was crafting the toxin-suppressing pills.

Lan Zhuo obviously realized this as well. He didn’t ask any further questions, instead earnestly following Liang He’s pill-making instructions.

"Alright."

Once he was familiar enough with the process, he began his first attempt.

It had to be said that Lan Zhuo’s talent was truly astonishing. There was a reason he was the first person at the Animal Research Institute to simultaneously hold positions in both the medical and research departments, highly regarded by the director and both department heads alike.

The first time was a learning experience, but by the second time, he was a natural. Very soon, the two worked in seamless coordination, successfully producing the entire batch of pills.

"Hoder, could you please deliver these pills to the Sixth Service Area? I’m going to get some sleep first."

Having worked from day until night, Liang He was quite exhausted, and Lan Zhuo needed to rest as well. They had no choice but to trouble Hoder to make the trip.

"No problem. Go get some rest!"

Hoder had no objections whatsoever to running errands. Since the Seventh Service Area was currently being guarded by Silver Li and the others like an impenetrable fortress, he felt completely at ease. Plus, he wanted to see how Huo An’s situation was progressing anyway.

"AWOOO~"

Seeing that Liang He had finally returned, the Mojin King Tiger immediately vacated the spot on the bed he had been keeping nice and toasty for her.

Liang He slipped under the warm covers, her entire body relaxing.

"Cedriel, it’s so good to have you..." she breathed.

Listening to Liang He’s soft murmurs and watching her drift into a deep slumber, a flicker of tenderness flashed through Cedriel’s golden tiger eyes.
