Chapter 185: Chapter 185: Heartwarming and Adorable Fluffies

After Liang He wiped the fluffies clean, she began helping them process the prey they had hunted. By the time the fluffies started eating their brunch, Silver Shuttle and Silver Feather had returned to the service area with the day’s meals.

"Liang He! Come eat, it’s going to get cold!" Silver Feather had increasingly lost the haughty airs of a Holy Daughter. She had no qualms about shouting at the top of her lungs, and if Liang He didn’t respond in time, she would just keep yelling.

"Right away!" Afraid that she would shout herself hoarse, Liang He hurried to the kitchen. The four of them sat around the island counter and began their meal.

"I heard Doctor Xu came last night. How is Xuan Jiao’s condition?" Silver Feather picked up some dishes that were out of Liang He’s reach and placed them in her bowl, then asked out of concern for the Iron-eating Beast. She and Silver Shuttle had gone to bed early last night and knew nothing; she had only just heard Hoder mention it.

"It’s fine. Once the antidote is developed, he’ll be alright." In truth, based on Xu Yi’s diagnosis, Liang He felt that the toxins in Xuan Jiao’s body might slowly break down on their own. He might recover even without an antidote. However, she kept this to herself to avoid causing unnecessary trouble.

"That’s great. Now I can feel relieved." Silver Feather was genuinely happy about this. Yin Qi would be arriving at the service area in the next day or two. If the Iron-eating Beast’s condition hadn’t improved, she really would have felt bad about troubling Liang He further, even though Yin Qi’s arrival had been approved by Liang He in the first place.

"Is Yin Qi arriving soon?" Lately, Liang He had focused all her attention on the Iron-eating Beast, but that didn’t mean she was indifferent to other people and matters. Seeing Silver Feather’s reaction, she immediately thought of the Divine Beast.

"Yes, tonight at the earliest, tomorrow at the latest." To prevent any accidents on the road, Yin Qi’s journey to Sky Shining Star was kept strictly confidential. The Priest leading the team, Silver Li, naturally wanted to travel as fast as possible to deliver Yin Qi safely.

"Alright, I’ll tidy up the medical room later so Yin Qi can stay there for a couple of days of observation." Whenever new fluffies arrived, they usually stayed in the medical room alone for a while. For one, they were almost always carrying some sort of injury. Furthermore, this allowed the other fluffies to gradually accept the newcomer’s presence, laying the foundation for their eventual integration into the dorms.

"Okay. With him staying in the medical room, it’ll be convenient for me to look after him, too." Silver Feather had no objections to this at all. Her and Silver Shuttle’s dorm was right above the medical room. Compared to going to the animal dorms—which required passing through the activity room and the kitchen—this was much more convenient.

Having sorted out the upcoming arrangements over their meal, Liang He returned to the animal dorms.

"AWOO." As soon as he saw Liang He return, the Mojin King Tiger immediately got up, flicked his tail, and gently rubbed his large body against her. The main reason he didn’t use his head was that he had just finished eating and hadn’t wiped his mouth yet.

"Cedriel, are you helping me guard Jiao Jiao?" Liang He keenly sensed that the fluffies seemed to have formed a spontaneous queue, taking turns guarding the door to the small private room where the Iron-eating Beast rested, especially when she wasn’t around.

"AWOO."

"Thank you." Receiving his affirmative response, Liang He smiled warmly. She patted his large head, then used wet wipes to clean their mouths. "Alright, I’m back now. You all can go and rest easy."

Heading out to hunt early in the morning during winter consumed a lot of energy, so they needed plenty of good rest.

"AWOO." The Mojin King Tiger didn’t linger by Liang He’s side; instead, he obediently returned to his own bed. The beds for the four fluffies had all been moved just outside the Iron-eating Beast’s private room. They were arranged in a semi-circle, making it easy for them to keep an eye on Liang He and the others at a glance, which was quite convenient.

"Mmm." The panda cub, who had been sound asleep pressed up against the Iron-eating Beast, sensed Liang He’s presence. It let out two soft, sweet whimpers, shifted its position, and went right back to sleep. Liang He gently draped a small blanket over it, then lay back on her own temporary cot and quickly drifted into dreamland.

While Liang He slept, Huo An was still working in full swing.

"Have you still not found out who administered the poison?" Huo An furrowed his brows and pursed his lips after listening to the report from Kerry, the Captain of the Law Enforcement Team.

"The culprit was extremely cunning this time. We currently have no leads. Because there were too many animals by the river, the scene has been almost completely destroyed." If it hadn’t been for the heavy animal traffic, given the Law Enforcement Team’s capabilities, they wouldn’t have come up empty-handed.

"It seems the culprit anticipated this situation, allowing them to act without any scruples." Sometimes, the more one tried to cover their tracks, the easier it was to slip up. But when the culprit made no active effort to hide, relying purely on natural conditions to erase their traces, they could conceal themselves far better.

"No matter how I look at it, this doesn’t feel like the Rebel Army’s usual modus operandi." Kerry’s expression was equally grim, as this meant the Rebel Army had gained another formidable enemy in their ranks. What’s worse, this enemy might already be inside the reserve, right beside them.

"Keep investigating. In the meantime, the reserve is to enter a state of high alert. We cannot afford to slack off." Since they couldn’t find the mole for the time being, they had no choice but to heighten their vigilance to prevent the culprit from striking again.

"Understood." Ever since Kerry’s team members were captured by the Rebel Army last time, he had been holding in a surge of pent-up anger, desperate to rescue them and get revenge on the Rebel Army. Yet before he could even go after them, the Rebel Army started causing trouble in the reserve again. This infuriated him so much that he had already thrown quite a temper tantrum. Therefore, even if Huo An hadn’t given the order, Kerry wouldn’t have slacked off. He was determined to catch the mole and give them a proper "reception"!

KNOCK KNOCK KNOCK.

Just as Kerry was about to leave, someone knocked on the door of Huo An’s temporary office. Kerry immediately opened it on high alert, only to see Lan Zhuo standing outside.

"Doctor Lan, are you done with your work?" For the past few days, Lan Zhuo had been fully immersed in analyzing the toxin and developing an antidote, making it a rare sight to see him anywhere else.

"No. Xu Yi is covering for me temporarily." At the end of the day, Lan Zhuo was still human; expecting him to research day and night without sleep was simply unrealistic. Therefore, Xu Yi was helping him complete a portion of the experiments so he could take the opportunity to catch some sleep. Surprisingly, instead of getting some rest, he had come looking for Huo An.

"Governor Huo, is it convenient to talk?"

"Yes, come in." Huo An signaled Kerry to go about his business, then let Lan Zhuo in, closing the door behind him. "What did you need to see me about?"

"Last night, Xu Yi went to see Liang He and examined Xuan Jiao." Xu Yi hadn’t informed Lan Zhuo about the Iron-eating Beast’s condition immediately, waiting instead until Lan Zhuo finished a round of experiments before telling him. Upon learning of this, Lan Zhuo immediately thought back to the Silver Moon Wolf’s mutation, intuitively suspecting that it might be connected to the pill.

"And? Liang He has made it clear that those pills cannot be mass-produced. What are you trying to say?" Huo An had always trusted Liang He implicitly; he would never force her to do anything she was unwilling to do. Now that Lan Zhuo kept harping on the pill, Huo An felt quite displeased. Even though he knew Lan Zhuo had no malicious intent, he didn’t want Liang He to be criticized or targeted because of it.

"Don’t misunderstand, Governor Huo. I merely hope that Liang He could provide one pill for us to research. Perhaps we could find a substitute. Furthermore, it might also prove helpful in developing the antidote."
