The Fluffballs I Fed Were SSS-Rank Beastmen
Chapter 183: The Iron-eating Beast’s Situation Is a Bit Different
Chapter 183: Chapter 183: The Iron-eating Beast’s Situation Is a Bit Different
As soon as Liang He received the message from Hello Poison, she immediately contacted Xu Yi and didn’t ask any further questions about the subsequent arrangements. After all, Chou the Pharmacist was over there. Given the relationship between Hello Poison and Chou the Pharmacist, once the toxin was analyzed, Chou would definitely do his utmost to develop an antidote. Otherwise, Hello Poison would probably mock him about it for the rest of his life.
"Liang He, this friend of yours is really impressive. I heard that the Animal Research Institute has only just analyzed the toxin components, yet your friend has already figured out the exact formulation ratios."
Silver Feather and Silver Shuttle had retired to their rooms early to rest up for their upcoming daily tasks of taking care of Liang He and the others. Hoder, who needed to keep an eye on her and the fluffy animals, was sleeping in an empty single room right next to Xuan Jiao’s. This made it convenient for him to chat with Liang He.
"Not only that, but there’s a trace toxin that even the institute failed to detect."
Xu Yi’s sudden appearance startled Liang He and Hoder. They stood up in surprise, left the small room, and walked over to him.
"Xu Yi, what are you doing here? Is there any new information from their side?" Liang He asked. Although she knew the toxin formulation breakdown had just been submitted, she still held onto a sliver of hope for a miracle. Unfortunately, she was bound to be disappointed.
"No, Lan Zhuo and the institute have only just begun developing the antidote." If it weren’t for Liang He finding such a reliable friend, they would probably still be analyzing the formulation right now, and developing an antidote would be a distant dream.
"Then why are you here?" Catching the fleeting look of disappointment on Liang He’s face, Hoder shot Xu Yi an irritated glare.
Thoroughly despised, Xu Yi pouted in grievance. "I just wanted to come and check on Xuan Jiao."
Right now, both he and Lan Zhuo were stationed at the Sixth Service Area. Since Liang He didn’t have a professional veterinarian on hand, he had to take the trouble to make the trip himself. He couldn’t risk the Iron-eating Beast’s condition deteriorating unnoticed, which could lead to a massive disaster.
"Thank you for your hard work."
Liang He stepped aside, allowing Xu Yi into the small room to examine the Iron-eating Beast. The other fluffy animals squatted obediently beside Liang He, their eyes fixed uniformly on Xu Yi. The intense stares gave him the creeps, making him terrified that one wrong move might cause a misunderstood beast to take a bite out of him and end his life.
Alright, even though it was just a scene he had imagined in his head—and utterly impossible with Liang He around—it didn’t stop him from sweating profusely, treating the situation like he was facing a formidable enemy.
"Liang He, how about you take them for a stroll in the activity room? Their staring is making it impossible for me to concentrate." It gave him a terrifying, hair-raising sensation.
"Xu Yi, is your brain broken? What is there to be afraid of?" Speechless, Hoder mercilessly activated his mocking mode, making Xu Yi grit his teeth in anger.
Fortunately, Liang He was relatively cooperative.
"...Alright." She agreed to Xu Yi’s request, but instead of moving herself, she had the Mojin King Tiger lead the way. "Cedriel, take everyone to play in the activity room for a while, and come back later, okay?"
"Awooo..."
Let alone Hoder, even Cedriel was speechless. This guy’s mental fortitude was seriously lacking. They had been together for so long, so what was there to be afraid of? If it were anyone else, he would absolutely call them out for having a guilty conscience!
"Alright, they’re all gone, so stop acting."
Once the other fluffy animals were led to the activity room, Liang He turned and walked into Xuan Jiao’s small room, shooting Xu Yi a cold glance. Just as the Mojin King Tiger had suspected, Xu Yi’s sudden fear was clearly abnormal. They had been around each other for so long. If he was scared now, where had that fear been earlier?
"Hehe, this is why they say you’re smart," Xu Yi explained while examining Xuan Jiao. "Honestly, I didn’t send them away for any other reason. It’s mainly because I felt they were too tense, so it’s better to distract them for a bit."
Ever since the Iron-eating Beast fell into a coma, the fluffy animals had been acting as if they were facing a great enemy. They stayed glued to Liang He and Xuan Jiao, not leaving their side for a single step, terrified that something would happen the moment they blinked.
Being too mentally tense was obviously not a good thing. It was one thing for Liang He not to know, but Xu Yi and the others were well aware of it. Cedriel and the others were Evolutionary Beastmen. In order to successfully evolve the Spiritual Body of their Beast Form, they had to maintain mental stability without the slightest margin for error. Therefore, giving them a chance to relax was beneficial.
"Then how is Jiao Jiao doing now?" Whether Liang He believed Xu Yi’s explanation or not was unclear, but her primary concern right now was the Iron-eating Beast.
"Let me look at the report."
Xu Yi had conducted the examination using professional equipment. Unlike the bulky medical scanners that took up a lot of space, these highly specialized instruments were relatively compact and convenient to use. This particular device was primarily designed to detect the toxins in the Iron-eating Beast’s body. It could determine the depth of the poisoning and assess the body’s current condition. If the toxin had permeated the internal organs, it would be able to detect that as well.
"Huh?" As Xu Yi looked at the freshly generated report, his eyebrows involuntarily furrowed together. His expression was unreadable, and he occasionally let out strange noises, causing Liang He’s heart to clench with anxiety.
"Xu Yi, can you stop keeping us in suspense? Hurry up and spit it out!" The impatient Hoder wasn’t going to coddle him. He walked up and smacked Xu Yi on the shoulder, making him bare his teeth in pain.
"Hiss! No! What’s wrong with you, Hoder? Why hit so hard?" Xu Yi glared at Hoder in annoyance, but when he caught sight of Liang He’s worried gaze resting on Xuan Jiao, he lost the energy to bicker with him. "Rest assured, Xuan Jiao’s condition hasn’t worsened. In fact, there are even signs of it alleviating."
That was why Xu Yi had been so surprised and engrossed in the report.
"Strange. Could it be because of a special physique?" Xu Yi glanced at the report in confusion and manually examined the Iron-eating Beast once more.
Could it be that the unique constitution of an SSS-level Beastman caused a completely opposite reaction to the poisoning compared to ordinary animals? Once those ordinary animals fell into a coma, their condition would only become increasingly severe; it was absolutely impossible for them to show signs of the toxicity lessening.
"So, is Jiao Jiao going to be alright?" Regarding Xu Yi’s confusion, Liang He immediately thought of the pill she had secretly fed Xuan Jiao. Subconsciously, she hid her hands beneath her sleeves and lightly clenched them into fists.
"You can’t exactly say that, but the fact that it hasn’t worsened is a good thing. Once the antidote is developed, he will definitely be fine."
Moreover, the Iron-eating Beast had not only stopped deteriorating but was also showing signs of improvement. Huo An could finally breathe easy now. Otherwise, if the Iron-eating Beast were to have an accident or even lose his life in the reserve, they really wouldn’t know how to explain it to Blue Star. And since Liang He happened to be a Blue Star person, Huo An and the others were acutely aware of what was at stake.
"That’s good, then."
With Xu Yi’s reassurance, Liang He could finally set her mind completely at ease. Although she knew his life wouldn’t be in danger when she fed him the medicine, she still felt uneasy without an accurate confirmation from a professional like Xu Yi.
"Alright, since Xuan Jiao is fine on this end, I’ll head back first. Liang He, if there’s any new information from your friend, notify me directly." It was getting late, and Xu Yi still had to rush back to the Sixth Service Area to help Lan Zhuo research the antidote, so he didn’t want to disturb Liang He and the others’ rest.
"Okay."
After seeing Xu Yi off, Liang He let the fluffy animals come back in to sleep. She lay on the small bed next to Xuan Jiao, closing her eyes to rest, but her mind was recalling the message Hello Poison had sent her.
"[Among the poisons, there is a trace toxin that plays a crucial role. I feel like I’ve seen it somewhere before...]"
