Chapter 173: Chapter 173: The Chef Wants to Cook a Special Meal for Liang He?

Liang He comforted the dejected Silver Feather. Then, to distract her, she specifically took her to see a special little animal.

"This is a koala. Let me tell you..." Liang He told Silver Feather about the time the Mengji Snow Leopard stole a little squirrel’s nuts, then made the koala act as a bag to transport the nuts back. This story made her laugh out loud.

"No way! Kuang Ye actually has a side like this?" It was hard to imagine that the dignified Imperial Admiral would actually rob a little squirrel of its pinecones and boss a koala around as manual labor. Oh, wait. He had let the koala sit on his back, so it only counted as using it like a plastic bag. She wondered if Kuang Ye would feel like his lifelong reputation was completely ruined when he sobered up and remembered all this.

"Kuang Ye and the others are all very cute. I remember when Lanton..." Seeing that she enjoyed listening to stories, Liang He went on to talk about how Lanton saved Little Black.

"At first, Lanton really couldn’t stand Little Black. But when Little Black was in danger, he was the first to notice and told me immediately. Otherwise, Little Black would have frozen to death." Lanton’s steady and reliable nature always made Liang He feel very secure. Therefore, whenever the fluffy animals went out hunting, with Lanton leading the team and taking charge of command and control, Liang He felt especially at ease.

"Hearing this gives me the illusion of a human saving their own food." Silver Feather’s imagination ran wild. After all, Little Black was clearly on the Canglan Hunting Eagle’s menu. Yet, because of Liang He’s presence, he suppressed his natural instincts, categorized Little Black as one of his own people—or rather, beasts—and even went out of his way to save him. This was truly a rare sight. If this were Commander Lanton in his normal state, Silver Feather certainly wouldn’t be surprised. However, he was currently in his Evolutionary Stage, which made it completely different.

"It’s a good thing we have the steadfast and reliable Lanton at home. Otherwise, I’d really be worried that these little guys would turn the place upside down when I’m not around."

"AWOO!"

Hearing Liang He rate the Canglan Hunting Eagle so highly, the hardworking little bee—no, wait, the big tiger—Cedriel, who was toiling away nearby, became unhappy. He pawed at the ground, letting out whimpering sounds that made him sound extremely wronged.

"Alright, alright. Our Cedriel is also getting better and better, just like a mature big tiger!" Child psychology came online once again; regardless of the situation, praising him first was the way to go.

Sure enough, upon hearing Liang He’s praise, Cedriel didn’t care if it was perfunctory or not. He happily swished his tail anyway. His ear tips twitched slightly. The sight of him trying to act proud while forcing himself to appear modest made Liang He chuckle.

"Alright, let’s hurry up and get back to work. Otherwise, it won’t be good if Silver Shuttle and the others wake up and don’t have any food to eat." It was almost noon now, and there was no telling when Silver Shuttle and the others would wake up.

"Don’t worry about that brat. Going hungry for a meal or two won’t hurt him. If worse comes to worst, make him drink a nutrient solution." Silver Feather, who hadn’t wanted to even look at—let alone mention—a nutrient solution ever since she had tasted Liang He’s cooking, felt absolutely no guilt about making Silver Shuttle drink it.

However, aside from Silver Shuttle, Liang He still had quite a few mouths to feed.

"Kuang Ye and the others aren’t back yet. If they come back and don’t see me, they’ll probably come out looking for me."

Hearing Liang He mention the Mengji Snow Leopard and the rest, Silver Feather found it hard to say anything more. When it came to disciplining her own child versus someone else’s, Silver Feather still understood the proper limits and boundaries.

"Then let’s move a bit faster."

Silver Feather and Liang He stopped wasting time. Aside from one feeding station that showed no signs of being touched—which Liang He had decided to abandon—all the other stations were updated with fresh food and bedding.

"We’re finally done. Little He, your job is way too exhausting." Lying in the hovercraft, Silver Feather looked completely worn out. Although this amount of physical activity was practically nothing for a Beastman’s stamina, from a work perspective, she just felt very tired. It was just like how standing on guard duty for a day and going shopping for a day were two entirely different things.

"Thanks for your hard work, Ah Ling. I’ll make you something delicious for lunch to reward you." Liang He was already accustomed to her work routine. This little bit of effort didn’t seem like much to her at all.

But Silver Feather couldn’t bear to see her working so hard. "How about you don’t cook? You’ve worked hard all morning, and having to cook right after coming back is just too tiring. Can’t we just let them drink nutrient solutions, or have the cafeteria send some food over?" Silver Feather had heard them say that the reserve had built a new cafeteria specifically because of Liang He. Couldn’t she enjoy the perks of it now?

Listening to Silver Feather chattering away, Liang He couldn’t even get a word in edgewise. When Silver Feather finally finished, Liang He was just about to speak when she heard a noise coming from the second floor.

"Liang He, the Holy Daughter is right. Now that there are more and more people, cooking is too time-consuming and labor-intensive. It’s better if you only prepare dinner. For the other two meals, I’ll have someone deliver them to you on time."

Huo An, who had been woken up by his Light Brain and had just finished handling some work remotely, happened to overhear Silver Feather’s words. He realized he had been neglectful; he hadn’t been as thoughtful as Silver Feather. Thus, he made a prompt decision. Using his authority as the district director, he directly informed Liang He and the cafeteria that dedicated personnel would be assigned to deliver meals every day.

"Alright then. I hope this won’t cause too much trouble for the head chef." The "head chef" Liang He mentioned was the cafeteria’s main cook. Since they were both Blue Star people, Liang He had received a lot of care from him. Now that she was increasing his workload, she felt very apologetic.

When the head chef received the notice, he didn’t mind at all. Instead, he happily prepared to cook special, exclusive meals just for Liang He. He wasn’t the only one working in the cafeteria. He was essentially the executive chef and had many subordinates working under him. Otherwise, given the number of staff members in the reserve, he wouldn’t be able to handle it all even if he had eight arms.

"Then I’ll be in charge of delivering the food every day, right?" Hoder was awake by now as well. Upon hearing Huo An’s arrangement, he felt uneasy about letting outsiders deliver the meals. It was much more reliable to have one of their own do it. If they encountered another mole like Dass or Gali who drugged or poisoned the food, it would be a disaster.

"I can help deliver the meals too." Silver Shuttle, having finished washing up, silently raised his hand. Silver Feather had already instructed him to accompany Yin Qi through his Evolutionary Stage. Since he would be staying here for a very long time, he naturally couldn’t just act like a useless decoration.

For Silver Shuttle’s initiative, Silver Feather was very satisfied and smiled as she nodded at him. This allowed Silver Shuttle to let out a massive sigh of relief.

"That works too." Huo An frowned but didn’t refute Hoder’s proposal. However, he was already pondering whether it was possible to set up a small cafeteria or kitchen within the Seventh Service Area.

But when he revealed this idea to Liang He, she decisively rejected it. The Seventh Service Area was already somewhat unique. If they built an extra little cafeteria, it would inevitably make the other colleagues feel uncomfortable and turn them into a target of public criticism. There was absolutely no need for that. On the other hand, Hoder going to pick up the meals was equivalent to getting takeout from the dining hall. The implications were completely different, and others wouldn’t find grounds to criticize them.

"Then it’s settled. Hoder, take Silver Shuttle to pick up the food for now. You two can figure it out amongst yourselves and take turns." Basically, they only needed to make one round trip a day. They could have the head chef prepare both breakfast and lunch at the same time and bring everything back in one go.

"Alright!" Hoder took Silver Shuttle aboard a hovercraft and flew toward the cafeteria in the Main Service Area.

"Liang He, I’m going to Hoder’s room to wash up. You guys go ahead with what you’re doing." Last night, Huo An had been dragged into playing video games with them. Because they had played so late, he hadn’t been able to go back and wash up, so now he could only make do with Hoder’s room.

"Okay. I’m going to see if I can find where Lanton and the others are." It was already noon, yet Lanton and the rest still hadn’t returned. This made Liang He a little worried.
