Chapter 156: Chapter 156: Someone from the Silver Wing Temple Has Arrived
Looking at Xu Yi, who seemed to want to say something but hesitated, Liang He and Silver Shuttle both felt a bit baffled.
"Hoder and Silver Shuttle got drunk last night and fell asleep right on the floor. I didn’t see anyone this morning, so I came up to wake them. What’s wrong?" Liang He asked.
Unaware of what was going on, Liang He inadvertently cleared up the situation. Xu Yi let out a heavy sigh of relief and smiled again.
"It’s nothing, nothing... Oh, wait, it is something." Changing his tune, Xu Yi—having finally recovered from the shock of his earlier misunderstanding—remembered his actual purpose. "People from Silver Shuttle’s family are here. Huo An is bringing them over now. Tell him to get ready."
"That fast?" Liang He was slightly surprised. She had assumed it would take the Silver Wing Temple a few days to send someone over. She hadn’t expected them to arrive on the very second day after their return. Turning to glance at the slightly pale Silver Shuttle, she gently patted his shoulder. "Don’t be afraid. This is my turf; I’ve got you covered."
Since she had promised to protect Silver Shuttle, Liang He wouldn’t go back on her word—even though her initial reason for bringing him here was simply to score some free labor. As for the Silver Wing Temple, she was technically the victim here. It shouldn’t be too much for a victim to make a small demand, right? For example... making Silver Shuttle stay and work to make up for his mistakes.
"BOOHOO... Liang He, you’re such a good person!" Moved to tears, Silver Shuttle remained completely oblivious to the fact that he had just been branded as free labor. He looked at Liang He with a face full of gratitude, regretting his past actions more than ever. "As long as you help me get through this, I’ll listen to whatever you say from now on!"
Liang He didn’t have much of a reaction to Silver Shuttle’s words, but Xu Yi raised a brow in surprise. As far as he knew, Silver Shuttle held a fairly high status in the Silver Wing Temple and was a notorious little tyrant. From the moment he was born until now, the number of people who could keep him in line could be counted on one hand. The fact that he was actually willing to obey Liang He was truly unimaginable.
"We’re friends; there’s no need to be polite." Liang He had quite a bit of experience when it came to disciplining bratty kids. She gently tidied up Silver Shuttle’s messy hair and pointed toward the bathroom. "Go wash up first. I’ll go check out the situation. Don’t worry."
Having never been treated so gently by a woman before, the tips of Silver Shuttle’s ears, hidden beneath his hair, instantly turned burning red. His pupils dilated for a split second. "You... I... I’ll go to the bathroom first!"
Looking exactly like a startled fawn, Silver Shuttle quickly stumbled toward the bathroom, leaving a bewildered Liang He and Xu Yi to stare at each other.
"What’s wrong with him?" she asked.
"I don’t know! Whatever, just ignore him. Let’s head downstairs and wait for them."
Since the message had been delivered anyway, Xu Yi simply pulled Liang He downstairs to wait for the people from the Silver Wing Temple to arrive.
"AWOO~"
Just as they reached the ground floor, they bumped into the Mojin King Tiger and the others returning from a hunt. Not many animals would risk coming out in the winter, yet their haul today was surprisingly abundant.
"Wow, Cedriel, you guys actually hunted this much prey? That’s amazing!" Furthermore, most of it was food that Liang He could eat. The Iron-eating Beast had even brought back quite a few fruits tucked away, which looked incredibly sweet.
"MEOW~"
Seeing that Liang He only praised the Mojin King Tiger, the Mengji Snow Leopard wasn’t having it. He quickly trotted over, begging for praise too.
"Haha, okay, okay, Kuang Ye is also very impressive. Lanton, Cyril, and Xuan Jiao are all super awesome as well!"
To avoid a chaotic scene of them fighting for her favor, Liang He took the trouble to praise each of them one by one. She coaxed them until they were completely smitten, their tails wagging non-stop in joy.
Just as she stepped off the aircraft, Silver Feather witnessed this heartwarming yet absurd scene. She paused in her steps, suddenly gaining a tangible impression of the rumored Liang He.
"Holy Daughter, please," Huo An said.
Seeing Silver Feather deep in thought, Huo An’s eyes flickered slightly as he simply reminded her to keep moving forward.
"Governor Huo, can Miss Liang He truly soothe Evolutionary Beastmen?" she asked.
At the mention of Evolutionary Beastmen, Huo An decisively halted. He subconsciously checked the distance between them and Liang He’s group. Only after confirming they couldn’t overhear the conversation did he relax.
"Just as the Holy Daughter can see, Liang He is a remarkably excellent Breeder." Especially when it came to raising Evolutionary Beastmen, there was no one better than her.
"Understood." Silver Feather resumed walking forward. Her original decision shifted in an instant, and a bold idea took root in her mind.
Liang He had long noticed the arrival of Silver Feather and Huo An. Even if she hadn’t, the fluffballs would have been on high alert.
But when Liang He finally looked up at Silver Feather, she couldn’t help being stunned by her beauty. A head of snow-white hair cascaded all the way down to her ankles. Her skin was as icy and clear as snow, yet it carried a faint tinge of pink, exuding a gentle, jade-like fluorescence...
"You’re so beautiful..."
Silver Feather wasn’t a stranger to hearing compliments, but this was the first time she felt a tremor in her soul. Because when she met Liang He’s crystal-clear eyes, she knew for a fact that the praise came straight from the heart. It was full of sincerity, completely devoid of any perfunctory flattery.
"Thank you. You’re very beautiful too."
For the first time since leaving the Temple, Silver Feather revealed a genuine smile, complimenting Liang He with equal sincerity. Her beauty went far beyond her physical appearance; it was the stunning purity of her soul.
"It’s cold outside. Why don’t you come inside and sit for a while?" Liang He offered.
Inexplicably, a friendship blossomed between the two women upon their very first meeting. With a slight smile, Liang He intimately took Silver Feather’s hand and pulled her indoors. Left standing in place and completely ignored, Huo An and Xu Yi were dumbfounded as they watched Silver Feather—someone who appeared approachable but was actually cold and aloof—obediently follow Liang He away.
"Wait... Does Liang He also have an effect on fully evolved Beastmen?" Xu Yi quietly sidled up to Huo An and nudged him with his elbow. Although he had previously teased Huo An that he still had to listen to Liang He despite completing his evolution, the current situation just felt a bit too fantastical.
It was common knowledge that the people of the Silver Wing Temple had never liked interacting with outsiders. It wasn’t just because they were arrogant—though they definitely were—but because it was tied to their very nature, which was understandable.
"The Divine Lineage of the Silver Wing Temple has always lived in the Endless Ice Domain, where it snows all year round. The outside world knows very little about them," Huo An explained.
Unlike other Beastmen, the Divine Lineage consisted entirely of Beastmen from the same race. Due to their extreme living environment, every member of the Divine Lineage was incredibly powerful. Even the Rebel Army largely avoided provoking them, fearing a collective retaliation.
Similarly, it was exactly because of their unique nature that the Divine Lineage still held a prominent position in the tri-power balance and wielded significant influence, despite rarely venturing into the world.
"Rumor has it that they rarely show kindness to humans outside their own kind. I didn’t expect Liang He to catch the Holy Daughter’s eye at first glance," Xu Yi remarked. Recalling the many rumors about the Divine Lineage, he couldn’t help but mentally give a thumbs-up to Liang He’s extraordinary affinity. He thought it was absolutely amazing. Since even the Holy Daughter treated Liang He differently, it seemed her promise to Silver Shuttle was a sure thing.
Completely unaware of how her actions had shocked the two men, Liang He was currently sitting on the sofa with Silver Feather, chatting happily.
"Liang He, do I look okay like this? My... God! Holy Daughter, why are you here?!"
