Chapter 149: Chapter 149: One of Liang He’s Secret Identities Exposed

Naturally, the experts and professors from the Federal Animal Research Institute were among the attendees at the Greenfield Star training exchange. After attending Liang He’s lecture, they immediately reported back to the Director.

The Director realized that Lan Zhuo happened to be working as a Veterinarian at Liang He’s side. Naturally, he wasn’t going to let this perfect opportunity to capitalize on their proximity slip by.

"I’ve watched the video of you sharing Traditional Chinese Veterinary Medicine on Greenfield Star several times," Lan Zhuo said.

Initially, he had been dismissive. Then, he felt there was some merit to it, though he assumed Liang He must have exaggerated. But when he seriously researched Blue Star’s application of Traditional Chinese Veterinary Medicine, he realized she had merely scratched the surface.

"My question is, could it be possible to develop a method to enhance an animal’s combat power through Traditional Chinese Veterinary Medicine?"

After surviving a life-or-death crisis, the Silver Moon Wolf’s combat power had surged from B-level to A-level, and it even showed signs of continuing to grow. This had left Lan Zhuo completely baffled. After repeatedly studying Blue Star’s Traditional Chinese Veterinary Medicine, a sudden flash of inspiration hit him—perhaps the answer was right beside him.

"I don’t know..." Liang He replied. She actually knew very well that the Silver Moon Wolf’s abnormality was caused by the pill she had fed it, but she honestly wasn’t sure if this was an isolated case or a universal phenomenon.

"Perhaps you could give it a try yourself?"

Just as Lan Zhuo suspected, Liang He didn’t know much about Traditional Chinese Veterinary Medicine. She had only learned the basics back then so she wouldn’t be completely clueless when rescuing animals. During field rescues, Traditional Chinese Veterinary Medicine allowed one to utilize existing herbs in the surrounding environment for emergency aid. It eliminated the need to carry a heavy medical kit at all times; at most, one only needed to carry a set of silver needles, making things far more convenient.

"Liang He, I can actually guess that the Silver Moon Wolf’s anomaly has something to do with you," Lan Zhuo continued. This was the conclusion he had reached after gathering information from various investigations. He had repeatedly watched the video recordings of the Silver Moon Wolf’s rescue. "If it weren’t for you, Xu Yi couldn’t possibly have saved the Silver Moon Wolf. It wouldn’t have survived the trip back to the medical room."

After the Silver Moon Wolf had entrusted its pup to them, it was clearly clinging to life by a thread. Frankly speaking, it could have died the very next second. But when Liang He hugged it tightly, shielding it from everyone’s view, the Silver Moon Wolf regained its vitality in mere moments. That was what gave Xu Yi the chance to save it.

"I also looked into your file. It’s flawless, but that very perfection is what made me suspicious."

Liang He’s existence was already quite baffling for Evolutionary Beastmen. From a conspiracy theory perspective, he had no choice but to treat the situation with caution.

Lan Zhuo’s certain tone left Liang He in momentary silence. At this point, no amount of denial would do any good.

"That pill was actually meant for me," she finally admitted.

There were no such incredible coincidences in the world. No one could have predicted the disaster that would befall the Silver Moon Wolf, and Liang He was no exception. She had formulated that pill herself using a lab before leaving Blue Star. She was afraid that if she ever lost control of her killing intent, she could take it to save her own life when her mental and physical strength were entirely depleted.

"Are you saying you gave your life-saving pill to the Silver Moon Wolf?!"

Lan Zhuo never expected this to be the truth. He didn’t know whether to call Liang He incredibly compassionate and selfless, or just plain foolish for giving a life-saving drug to an animal. He would have found it easier to accept if an Evolutionary Beastman had taken the pill.

"Then, would it be convenient for you to tell me who developed the pill?"

Now that he had found the source of the Silver Moon Wolf’s mutation, Lan Zhuo just wanted to figure out the pill’s ingredients as soon as possible. This was of vital importance to him, the Animal Research Institute, and even the entire Federation.

"If I said... I just threw it together myself, would you believe me?" Liang He asked.

While Liang He indeed didn’t know much about Traditional Chinese Veterinary Medicine, it didn’t mean she was ignorant of Traditional Chinese Medicine. She had compounded the pill for herself based on her own condition. Feeding it to the Silver Moon Wolf at the time was nothing more than a last-ditch effort.

"You’re saying you developed it yourself?!"

This time, Lan Zhuo was truly shocked. He had imagined all sorts of answers, even considering having the Director apply to the Federation to invite an expert from Blue Star. He never expected the mastermind to be right beside him!

"Yeah, my situation is a bit special, so..."

It was inconvenient for Liang He to go into the specific details with Lan Zhuo. It wasn’t her first time taking the pill, and she had never felt any so-called enhancement to her combat power. Or perhaps her inherent combat power was already at the absolute peak.

"In short, everything about me is perfectly reasonable and legal. If you have any issues, you can coordinate directly with the higher-ups on Blue Star." Brushing Lan Zhuo off with a resigned attitude, Liang He decided not to answer any more of his questions. She turned and headed toward the animal dormitories.

Having been dismissed, Lan Zhuo stood frozen in place, silently pondering Liang He’s last sentence.

"The higher-ups on Blue Star?" he wondered.

Did that mean the Blue Star leadership knew about Liang He’s situation? Just who was she, and what was her true identity? She had clearly joined the Tianyao Star Protection Zone as a Breeder, yet she was now shrouded in mystery. Could Blue Star have planned this all along?

He couldn’t help but ask himself, "Why exactly did Liang He appear in the Tianyao Star Protection Zone?"

For the first time, Lan Zhuo—who had always been fully immersed in animal medical research—felt like he didn’t have enough brain cells for this. At the very least, he wasn’t adept at handling this kind of political intrigue. Without hesitation, he sent a message to the Director of the Animal Research Institute, explaining the situation.

[Lan Zhuo: Director, Liang He admitted to previously feeding the Silver Moon Wolf a pill. I suspect the Silver Moon Wolf’s mutation is related to this pill.]

[Lan Zhuo: Furthermore, she stated that she developed the pill for herself, not for animals. This requires further investigation.]

[Lan Zhuo: Liang He’s identity is questionable and may involve the higher-ups on Blue Star. I recommend reporting this to the Federation and placing her under surveillance, just in case.]

Lan Zhuo’s three consecutive messages completely stunned the Director.

After the experts and professors who attended the training exchange on Greenfield Star had returned, the Director immediately convened an emergency meeting. He wanted to discuss the research and development of preventative measures and cures for the Fierce Beast virus. He never imagined he would receive such shocking news from Lan Zhuo instead.

"Am I reading this right? Lan Zhuo is saying that the Silver Moon Wolf’s mutation is connected to Liang He?"

Minister Yiding of the Medical Department looked equally incredulous. Liang He had proven capable of soothing Evolutionary Beastmen, had repeatedly thwarted the Rebel Army’s plots, and had even provided a research direction for the Fierce Beast virus... And now they were being told that even the Silver Moon Wolf’s mutation was tied to her?!

"How can one person be this incredible?"

"Isn’t this a little too heaven-defying?"

"Is Liang He the legendary all-rounder?"

Not a single person at the meeting remained calm. Even the experts and professors who had already been astounded by Liang He several times on Greenfield Star couldn’t help but question reality at this moment.

"You’ve interacted with Liang He quite a bit recently. Based on what you know about her, is it possible she’s lying?" The Director addressed the experts and professors who had been the first to report back. Compared to the others who had never met Liang He, the Director wanted to hear their thoughts and recommendations.

"Director, to be completely honest, I think Liang He—"
