Chapter 142: Chapter 142: Joyful Moments of Reunion with the Fluffies

No sooner had Liang He muttered a few words than she saw the Mojin King Tiger slowly making his way toward the terrace with a basket of things in his mouth.

"Cedriel~"

Hearing Liang He’s call, the Mojin King Tiger, whose pace had been leisurely, immediately accelerated. In the blink of an eye, he dashed up to Liang He, set the basket down, and affectionately rubbed against her neck.

"AWOO~"

"You’ve worked hard today too, Cedriel. What did you go do?"

Liang He bent down curiously and glanced at the contents of the basket, discovering it was filled with food and drinks.

The Mojin King Tiger reached out his paw and gently nudged the basket, clearly telling her that he had prepared all of this for her.

"Wow! Cedriel, how did you know I was hungry and thirsty? You’re so sweet!"

Liang He threw her arms around the Mojin King Tiger’s large head and planted a big kiss on him. Not wanting his good intentions to go to waste, she immediately found a clean spot to sit down and took the food and drinks out of the basket.

"Have you all eaten?"

As the exclusive breeder for the fluffy companions, Liang He observed the surroundings of the Mengji Snow Leopard and the others. Noticing food and water nearby, she figured they had likely replenished their energy at the very first opportunity.

"Did Brother Hao prepare these for you?"

Other than Liang He, the Canglan Hunting Eagles and the rest would only take a few bites of food left by Huo An and Hoder. Since Hoder had been busy all along, it must have been Huo An who prepared it.

"MEOW~"

The Mengji Snow Leopard responded affectionately, rolling over to expose his belly and letting Liang He pet him. His newly grown fur felt absolutely fantastic. Having not petted her fluffy companions for a long time, Liang He could hardly bear to stop.

Aside from the Mengji Snow Leopard, the other fluffy animals also scrambled forward, begging for pets. It wasn’t until Liang He’s stomach let out a loud GRUMBLE that she reluctantly stopped.

"Alright, alright, I’ll pet you guys later. Let me eat something first."

Liang He began to eat. Meanwhile, the Mojin King Tiger, whose ear tips had turned red from her kiss, remained standing shyly in place. By the time he snapped out of his daze, the other fluffy animals had already occupied all the empty space around Liang He, leaving absolutely no room for him.

However, when Cedriel saw the incredibly satisfied expression on Liang He’s face as she ate, he felt there was no need to bicker with them. Instead, he simply leaped onto the rockery next to her and lay down on the high vantage point, silently protecting her.

"Phew... Good food really is the most healing."

Having eaten and drunk her fill, Liang He lay contentedly in the pile of fluffy animals, tossing, turning, and petting them. Once she got tired of playing, she fell straight into a sound sleep. With her fluffy companions acting as a blanket, she had no fear of catching a cold anyway.

It was already midnight by the time Hoder—who had finally finished his grueling work and come up to discuss the follow-up matters with Liang He, with President Lucas and the others trailing behind him—found her.

"Liang He... does she often sleep with the Platinum Giant Lion and the others?"

Seeing the scene before them, President Lucas and the rest felt a profound sense of shock.

They were all insiders regarding the Evolutionary Beastmen. It was precisely because they knew how uncontrollable Evolutionary Beastmen could be that they were so astounded by Liang He’s existence and her current actions.

"Not often."

When Hoder finished the first half of his sentence, the crowd breathed a collective sigh of relief. Just as they thought, a scene like this had to be a mere exception.

But a second later, they were struck speechless by his next words.

"It’s every day."

As far as he knew, ever since Liang He arrived at the Tianyao Star Protection Zone and crossed paths with Cedriel, she had eaten and slept with them almost every single day—with the sole exception of her trip to Star D139 to rescue Kuang Ye.

"You’ll get used to it. Although the animal dormitories Liang He manages all have individual rooms, they just love squeezing onto her bed. Her bed went from two meters wide, to twenty square meters, and now to over a hundred square meters. I’m used to it by now."

"O-Over a hundred square meters for a bed?"

Alright, their mindset was just too outdated, and they were simply ignorant.

The group of experts and professors suddenly felt that, considering Liang He could even tame Evolutionary Beastmen, commanding ordinary animals was nothing to be surprised about anymore.

"Mmm~"

Nestled in the arms of the Iron-eating Beast, Liang He lifted her face from the black-and-white fur and lazily stretched. Just as she was limbering up her upper body, she noticed the bizarre sight of Hoder and the others standing by the glass partition between the hotel and the terrace, staring straight at her.

"Uh... President Lucas, Hoder, why are you all here?"

She wondered if something major had happened again.

Seeing Liang He’s slight embarrassment, President Lucas smiled kindly. He pushed open the door to the terrace and walked toward her, stopping at a safe distance that the Platinum Giant Lion and the others would accept.

"The animals you asked for help have all collected their food and gone back."

Because there were many types and a large number of animals, allocating the supplies took a considerable amount of time, which was why they had been busy until the latter half of the night.

"We originally wanted to consult you on the principles behind making the Fierce Beasts lose their mobility. But seeing you sleeping so soundly, we realized that it’s already the middle of the night, and you ought to get a good rest."

President Lucas’s words also served as a reminder to the experts and professors behind him who were eager for answers. Their old faces flushed red, and they glanced at Liang He somewhat sheepishly.

It was thoughtless on their part. They had been protected in the underground safehouse the entire time, while Liang He had been running around from morning till night, utterly exhausted. They should have let her rest properly first and only sought her advice after she had recuperated.

"You don’t need to be so polite, President Lucas. I just took a nap and feel much better now."

No matter what, they were her seniors. Even if she was just adhering to Blue Star’s fine tradition of respecting the elderly and caring for the young, she ought to treat them with courtesy.

"Since everyone is curious, if I don’t explain it today, I’m afraid you won’t be able to sleep when you go back."

Liang He fully understood the agony of knowing the answer was right in front of them but remaining out of reach, so she didn’t want to keep them in suspense.

"How about this? You guys probably haven’t eaten or freshened up much, and I also want to go tidy myself up. Why don’t we meet at the sharing and exchange conference hall in an hour?"

Prompted by Liang He’s considerate suggestion, everyone agreed that this was a good arrangement. Those who were hungry could go grab a bite to eat, and those who wanted to take a shower and relax could return to their rooms. Gathering at the hall for a unified explanation later would be much more convenient.

"Alright, then we’ll follow Liang He’s arrangement. Let’s all go rest and tidy up."

With Liang He’s promise and President Lucas’s endorsement, no one raised any objections.

What was more, some of them were indeed getting up in years, and their physical stamina had long since been depleted. The only reason they had held on until now was purely out of their pursuit of scientific research and their curiosity.

"Hoder, could you ask the hotel to arrange a larger room? Lanton and the others definitely need to stay with me."

Since the fluffy companions were all here, Liang He wouldn’t let them suffer any grievances. Besides, they were major contributors to this battle, so they deserved to be properly rewarded.

"Don’t worry, my uncle anticipated you would say that. He communicated with the hotel early on and made an exception for you to stay in the most luxurious presidential suite. The protection zone will reimburse the cost!"

Liang He, whose heart had initially bled a little upon hearing "presidential suite," instantly blossomed into a wide smile the moment she heard the word "reimburse."

"Brother Hao is truly a super good guy! Remember to thank him for me!"

With that, Liang He immediately beckoned the Canglan Hunting Eagles and the others to head toward the top floor of the hotel. Since the elevator couldn’t fit all of them, they would have to suffer the minor grievance of taking the stairs.

"Um... excuse me, can I leave now?"
