The First Superhuman: Rebuilding Civilization from the Moon
Chapter 357: The Language of Electromagnetic Waves
The religion surrounding the Sea God had an ancient history spanning over a hundred thousand years. By their modern era, it had evolved into a massive, tangled web of vested interests. The power of the ruling class was inextricably linked to divine authority; governments relied on the mandates of the Church to maintain their absolute rule.
Eradicating the Gods would be equivalent to destroying their own empires. No leader was foolish enough to attempt that. Thus, even if a few elite politicians privately doubted the divine, they had no intention of sparking a revolution. Society continued its usual routine.
Furthermore, the general population was thoroughly indoctrinated. The existence of the Gods was an undeniable, fundamental truth of nature. If a president were to publicly declare himself an atheist, he would face dozens of assassination attempts by the following morning. Fanatics were simply that dangerous.
Given this oppressive environment, why did the ruling class allow modern science to develop at all?
Because science generated productivity, military strength, and immense wealth. No ruling class could resist the pursuit of power. Once these nations tasted the economic benefits of modern industry, the momentum became unstoppable. In a world plagued by constant, deeply rooted global conflicts, they had no choice. Refusing to develop science meant being quickly conquered and swallowed by rival nations.
However, there was an absolute, unspoken rule: scientific advancement could never contradict religious dogma. Crossing that line meant committing heresy.
Under this shadow, scientists lived in constant fear, terrified of violating sacred taboos. For example, the discovery of evolutionary biology triggered massive societal unrest. The theory argued that species slowly changed over time to adapt to their environments, directly contradicting the Church’s core doctrine that all living things were perfectly and permanently created by the Gods.
The government and the Holy Church operated as a unified machine. They crushed heresy ruthlessly to prevent any ideological threat to their rule.
Eventually, the scientists managed to reframe their findings, proving that all species on Planet Dige, including the natives themselves—originally emerged from the ocean.
Since the ocean was the sacred source of all life, they argued that evolution did not contradict the Sea God. Instead, it merely showed that the Church’s human interpretation of the divine plan was slightly flawed. Since the Gods were infinitely complex and elusive, minor human errors in religious texts were deemed acceptable.
As evolution gained mainstream acceptance, the Holy Church quietly revised its doctrines, and the public uproar faded.
But the dead could not be resurrected. The charred remains of the brilliant biologists burned at the stake, and the bodies swinging from the gallows, served as a permanent, chilling warning to all researchers: never cross the Church’s bottom line.
"The Gods must fall!" Luther thought, his heart burning with indignation every time he remembered those executions. "If they don’t fall, we have no future! Science has no future!"
Luther firmly believed the Gods were simply massive, undiscovered biological creatures hiding in the deep ocean. He knew that if he could drag the true form of the deity into the light and expose it to the public, he could permanently shatter the illusion of the divine. He wanted to drag his cursed, fanatical society into a true scientific golden age.
He had no idea that his upcoming revelation would trigger unprecedented global panic and ignite a devastating world war. If a civilization’s fundamental beliefs could be changed so easily, it wouldn’t be considered a cosmic-level sociological trap.
Luther was a true genius. To the public, he was an esteemed theologian and a renowned biologist who moved effortlessly through high society. Shielded by these two prestigious titles and his flawless social charm, no one ever suspected that he was actually the radical leader of a massive atheist syndicate.
After years of secret research, Luther finally found his breakthrough: the Gods were likely highly complex marine algae.
These elusive organisms had developed a massive collective consciousness. By constantly observing and mimicking the natives, their collective intelligence slowly grew. Aligning with the Theory of Imitation, the entity was like an infant—its mimicry was purely a subconscious reflex.
Evidence suggested that the ancient Sea God lacked true, high-level intelligence. Ten thousand years ago, it only knew how to mimic digging a hole in the sand. Yet, in recent centuries, it had learned to perfectly replicate forged cold weapons.
Its intelligence had crossed a singularity point and was now evolving at an explosive rate.
However, this massive entity lacked a strong sense of self, initiative, or specific desires. It spent most of its time dormant, only acting sporadically. These random, unconscious mimicries were what the natives worshipped as "miracles."
Luther kept this theory strictly to himself. He didn’t even trust his own underground syndicate with the details. If a leak occurred, he would be charged with ultimate blasphemy, and his elite status wouldn’t save him from the executioner’s flames.
So, how could he physically prove the true nature of the deity?
The answer was electromagnetic waves.
Why did religious sacrifices only work occasionally? Why did they fail the vast majority of the time? Luther’s theory was brilliant in its simplicity: everyone’s brainwaves were different.
If a worshipper’s brainwave frequency happened to temporarily match the entity’s dormant frequency while it was paying attention to that specific beach, the algae would mistakenly register the native as one of its own and blindly mimic the action. It had absolutely nothing to do with religious piety.
It was really that simple.
Operating entirely alone, Luther spent ten years tirelessly attempting to isolate the Sea God’s exact electromagnetic wave language. It wasn’t that he disliked his syndicate; he just knew that absolute secrecy was his only shield against the Church’s spies.
A decade flashed by.
Then, one morning, while conducting a routine check of his coastal monitoring equipment, Luther began to tremble. Tears welled in his eyes.
"Umorlu... the Sea God Umorlu has responded!" After ten years of operating in the dark, the clouds had finally parted. The electromagnetic transmission experiment was a complete success!
Luther was ecstatic. His underwater sensors had captured a massive data spike during the dead of night. A specific electromagnetic signal had drastically amplified in the water, and minutes later, the entity left behind a miracle on the beach.
It was a pile of ordinary ballpoint pens.
Luther had deliberately taken a cheap, store-bought ballpoint pen and shoved it upside down into the wet sand. But now, right next to it, sat a massive pile of identical ballpoint pens, all shoved upside down into the sand. It was a perfect miracle bestowed by the Sea God Umorlu!
This wasn’t a prank. Luther eagerly reviewed the underwater camera footage and watched the replication process unfold. With trembling hands, he wrote in his secure log:
"First, dense microscopic algae swarmed the store-bought pen, probing its internal molecular structure. Next, various phytoplankton rapidly shifted and clustered together, driven by a localized collective consciousness. Within thirty seconds, the outer plastic casings of the pens materialized beneath the water. Thirty seconds later, the internal ink cartridges and metal components were perfectly formed. Flawless replicas!"
At the exact moment the replication finished, Luther’s sensors recorded a faint electromagnetic pulse from the algae. a frequency that translated to a basic biological emotion: joy.
Luther examined the new pens. They were visually indistinguishable from the original, right down to the tiny, stamped corporate logo.
He was stunned. The entity was physically manipulating matter at the atomic and molecular level. It was pulling raw elements directly from the seawater to synthesize plastic and metal! A cold chill ran down his spine. The creature’s capabilities were terrifying. Was the entity really that powerful?
But fear quickly gave way to absolute triumph. So what if it could manipulate atoms? It was just a biological organism, not a divine creator! It was infinitely inferior to the omnipotent, omniscient God the Church preached about.
He had found it. He had physical proof of the deity’s true form. The entire foundation of their religion had just been completely dismantled!
The sheer scale of his victory made his pupils dilate; every cell in his body seemed to scream with joy. There were no Gods. There was only biology. He had to make this evidence public. He would expose the truth, overthrow the Church, and finally drag his doomed world into a new era!
