Chapter 679: Starting Over(2)
“So, what brought you here to meet me?” Johanna’s father asked with no expression on his face. He could sense the abnormal tension around his daughter, so he readied himself for hearing something that was going to anger him.
Johanna also stopped rubbing her head. Her father’s flick had resulted in her white skin turning red, while there was a slight swelling. She stopped since she could see that her father had sensed that things were different than usual.
‘Fa…fat…father…,’
“Father, I have made a decision,” Johanna knew she would stutter at first due to tension, so she repeated the words in her mind, and when the sentence started flowing normally, she uttered them out loud.
“What decision?” Johanna’s father asked. There was a slight irritation in his tone since he sensed a bad feeling in his heart, and it was making him uncomfortable.
“You know about the store I usually go to,” Johanna ignored her father’s tone and added.
The father didn’t say anything but only nodded his head and gestured to his daughter to continue without stopping..
Johann got her answer, so she took a deep breath and began the story of her and the cultivation art.
As soon as Johann’s father heard the mention of the cultivation art, a bad feeling rose in his heart, but she controlled himself and didn’t interrupt his daughter.
As time passed, the uncomfortable feeling grew in his heart. When he heard about Johanna’s thoughts of changing her cultivation art for the second time, he couldn’t help but get angry with his daughter. But he kept it in his mind as he could see Johanna was still going on, and things were far from stopping.
The father kept his mouth shut and didn’t interrupt his daughter even once.
The father finally erupted as Johanna talked about her thoughts of starting her cultivation again after seeing the book only once.
He couldn’t just let Johanna do anything she wanted. It was true that she was also an Immortal like her. She had already lived for several thousand years and was mature enough to know what was right for her. But for Johanna’s father, these things didn’t matter.
As long as he was the stronger of the duo, he wasn’t going to let Johanna do whatever she wanted if he found the results to be harmful to his daughter’s future.
At the same time, Johanna’s father knew that his daughter wanted to gain his support since she could have started again and then told him about it. At that time, even if he didn’t like Johanna’s decision, he would have helped Johanna stabilize her cultivation.
But since Johanna came to her first without doing any untoward thing, he controlled himself once again. This time, it was the father who took a deep breath.
Johanna stopped speaking and hopefully looked at her father since she needed spiritual as well as material support from her father. She had already exchanged her entire savings to buy the cultivation arts, so even if she wanted, she wouldn’t be able to start again without enough Primal stones.
“Let me take a look at the so-called cultivation art that made you decide to start over?” Johanna’s father asked after calming down.
Even though the father had a calm expression on his face, Johann feared this expression more since her father was open to her and didn’t hide anything. Currently, she had no idea what was going through her father’s head, and it made her feel uncomfortable.
Johanna silently took out a black cover book from her pocket space and handed it to her father.
It was the mortal grade Art of the Doom.
Johanna’s father took it from his daughter’s hands. He didn’t open the book straight away but looked at it.
His eyes suddenly turned golden as its projection appeared in his mind. The father couldn’t find anything different about the book other than it was a book. He only wanted to see if there was something about the book which created a mental demon filled with greed in his daughter’s mind.
After several attempts of successive failure, the father gave up. He then opened the book, with the title of the cultivation art in dark colors catching his sight.
At that moment, Johanna’s father knew that the cultivation art wasn’t simple. Just from the title, he could feel a pressure that made him feel free and carry a mountain on his back at the same time.
After looking at the title for a few seconds, Johanna’s father noticed that it was only a one-time occurrence, and the feeling had left as quickly as it had come.
He then turned the page over and found himself looking at a diagram of the void. There was nothing in the diagram except a dark void, but for some reason, he could feel that it wasn’t as simple as that.
Johanna’s father could only feel it and couldn’t put his hands on it, as he failed to understand what it was.
The father then turned the page and finally came across the written details of the cultivation art.
“The Chaos gives birth to Destruction, and Destruction gives birth to Chaos!”
The father read the first line written on the third page. Similar to the last two pages, he could sense an incomprehensible feeling. It made him feel uncomfortable.
Time flew by, and a few minutes had passed.
Even a Void Condensation level cultivator, would only take around one minute to read the entire book. But it took a few minutes for Johanna’s father to read it since he wanted to comprehend that incomprehensible feeling.
“What do you think?” Johanna nervously asked as her father closed the book.
The father didn’t speak anything for some time but only stayed silent.
“Give me its other grades,” The father broke the silence and asked his daughter for the other four grades.
Johanna didn’t ask her father the reason behind it and straight away gave the other four books to him.
The father silently took it. He then found the rare grade book and opened it.
Time flew by.
As the grade of the book grew, the time it took for Johanna’s father to read it fully also increased.
After around an hour, the father had finally read all the five grades of the Art of the Doom.
