Chapter 1353: Two Personalities(21)

Time flew by, and a new morning had arrived in Thorr and its nearby cities. Laney rushed inside the store like other customers after Aakesh moved away from the door.

Laney heaved a sigh of relief when she saw herself shrouded in golden light. She then joined the queue and waited for her turn to talk to Aakesh.

Since Laney had many things to talk about, she was the last in line. After some waiting, it was finally her turn.

“Hello, Big Brother,” Laney respectfully greeted Aakesh with a wide smile.

Aakesh nodded back to her with a smile, and then Laney told Aakesh about what happened with her the day before in Panagea.

As soon as Aakesh heard about the mountains of Destrun, he understood that they were not natural but an artificial creation. After hearing about the city, his guess turned out to be correct.

Destrun was used as an array to travel to the city. Since the world of Panagea was vast, he had no idea about the city or what it was, despite being in Panagea for several thousand years. There were examples, but there were so many that Aakesh decided not to waste time thinking about what was the correct option.

When Aakesh heard about the hideous boy, he told Laney about the race. Laney couldn’t help but breathe a sigh of relief when she heard Aakesh.

The boy’s race was Frekinot. Every member of the race was born with hideous features. As for personalities, there were only two.

Either the Frekinots were pranksters, or they were vengeful creatures. The one Laney met belonged to a prankful personality, so the boy only played a prank on her. If it were of the vengeful type, things wouldn’t have been fine for her.

Aakesh also gave Laney some tips on how to use the boy to her advantage.

“Thank you, Big Brother.” Laney sincerely thanked Aakesh and was about to walk toward the portal room.

The next moment, she had to stop as Aakesh called her and stated, “If you step into the True God level in the next three years, I will give you the prize you have been waiting for.”

With Aakesh’s help, Laney had reached a state where no early True God would be a match for her on the planet the moment she stepped into the True God level. Aakesh wanted Laney to conquer amazing territories under her control, and all of them were ruled by intermediate True Gods or higher level cultivators.

Aakesh had a grand ambition for Laney, so he gave her the test.

“I will do it,” Laney simply responded. She had a feeling that she had limited time to step into the True God level if she didn’t want to miss an opportunity, and that had been proven today by what Aakesh said.

Laney didn’t stand there any longer to speak some unnecessary words and walked toward the portal room.

Since Laney hadn’t gained anything significant the day before in Panagea, there was no change in her rankings on the leaderboard. She then walked toward the only empty virtual portal in the room since she was the last to enter with the first group of customers.

As she touched the portal, a suction force appeared and devoured her. The next moment, the stars on the virtual portal turned gray, matching the other machines in the room, and the silence returned.

Laney suddenly found herself back in the same spot where she was forced out of Panagea the previous day. Her sudden appearance alerted the people on the street, but suddenly something happened, and the people acted as if things were standard.

Not long after her appearance, the boy appeared on the street and approached her. Since time flew faster in Panagea, even though only a day had passed outside Panagea, three days had gone by for the people inside Panagea.

“Where have you been? We have been waiting for you.” The boy reprimanded Laney for disappearing for three days. He didn’t remember Laney’s disappearance in front of him at all.

If it were a different situation, the boy would have tried to pry into what happened, but that time, the boy simply nodded as if there was nothing wrong with what Laney said.

“Since you are here, let me welcome you on behalf of all citizens.” The boy stated finding nothing wrong with what he said. At that moment, he didn’t even think that Laney didn’t need the welcome and introduction, even though she had been gone for three days. It was as if someone was influencing his mind to think differently than normal.

“Hello, I am Rimiru, and on behalf of the citizens, I welcome you to Fring City,” Rimiru stated.

Laney responded with a polite smile, and then the boy stated something that shocked Laney.

The Fring City was set up by an extremely powerful being over a billion Panagea years ago. Fring City was only one of the cities in a series of 36 cities set up by that person.

The Fring City and the other 35 cities were special since these cities only had citizens but no leaders. And no citizen of the area could become its head. The city would randomly summon a being, and then that person would have to go through a trial. If they succeeded, the city would lose its freedom, and that person would become the leader, with every citizen, irrespective of their level, needing to be loyal to the new leader.

Laney couldn’t help but suck in a breath of cold air since the city had a population of a few million, and there were many beings several times stronger than her in the group.

Rimiru then informed her of the power of the leader, as if bewitching Laney to partake in the trial.

The more Laney heard, the more interested and impressed she became. Her eyes were burning with excitement, and she was ready to pass the trial.

Aakesh had informed her of the three-year deadline that day, and the city would surely help her achieve that goal.

After Rimiru informed Laney of all the good things about passing the trial, he stopped for a few seconds and then opened his mouth again.
