1317 Selecting the Candidate(4)
Chapter 1317: Selecting the Candidate(4)
Cough!
Laney coughed up blood again, and that time it turned out to be even more grave. Her entire body had shrunk at that moment, as if someone had dried her blood.
The beast grabbed one blood replenishing pill from the diminishing stock and pushed it into her mouth. The pill melted in her mouth, and a stream of warm energy rushed through her throat.
Its destination was the bone marrow. The bone marrow immediately began creating essence at a rapid rate to restore the diminishing stock of blood. But before it could complete the stock, the effects disappeared.
Laney’s eyelids moved, but she still wasn’t strong enough to bear the blood loss and was still unconscious.
Even though the pills from the store were purer than those from other stores, there were still impurities in them. Laney had eaten pills in double-digits, accumulating a harmful amount of toxins.
The Yellow King didn’t immediately feed another pill to Laney, keeping that in mind. Since it was at a dangerous level, if the toxins grew further, it would be more detrimental to her than the blood-essence loss due to repeated failures.
Once the contract between the beast and the customer was signed, the beast became a staunch loyalist of the being and only wanted what was best for its owner. So it could also sense the importance the day held for Laney.
It didn’t want its owner to live in regret, so it gritted its teeth and fed her another pill.
The familiar warm energy rushed to the bone marrow and helped her restore her lost essence. A few seconds later, her eyelids moved, and not long after, she woke up.
Laney immediately grabbed the Yellow King and hugged it while a wide smile spread across her face. Even though she had accumulated a harmful level of toxins in her body and had gone through so much blood loss and its effects, she found all of it worth it.
Laney immediately let go of the beast and closed her eyes. She didn’t meditate, but her energy channels were working automatically.
During her unconsciousness, Laney seemed to have gained an epiphany, and that was the reason behind the wide smile a moment earlier.
The Yellow King could also feel the happy aura around Laney, so it sat down on the nearest chair and waited to hear the good news.

Gret’s entire back was wet with sweat, and before he could let go of the stress in his mind, an unbearable pain hit him. He immediately looked at the source of the pain and found it to be his finger, which was pricked.
Since the store owner had already told him about the following process after summoning the beast, Gret knew the pain had to do with the signing of the contract.
Even though only a moment had passed since Gret came to the square device and signed the contract, several days had passed for him in the taming battle.
The battle with the Grayish Lynx Spider was the toughest battle of his life. He would even compare that battle to the pressure he would feel whenever he was in front of his father. It wasn’t a literal feeling, but the pressure he felt was the same.
Even though Gret trumped the beast and won the taming battle, it wasn’t easy, and he almost died several times.
Since the battle was that tough, the excitement that came after knowing that the beast would be his summon was also no less intense.
After the wave of pain disappeared, a wide, excited smile spread across his face. He then looked at the screen on the device and read the content of the contract.
After he read the contract, he turned around and left the queue since the payment for the beast was left, and he couldn’t wait for it to be done. Even though the price was something he was only able to afford after spending the majority of his total wealth, he didn’t care after the battle. He would do it even if he had to spend all his wealth.
When he exited the room, Gret found a small line of couple customers in front of the store owner. He rushed there and joined it, waiting for his turn.
After waiting several moments, it was his turn. He immediately handed the beast card and also ninety-one ultimate Sacred stones.
“You need to pay ninety ultimate… higher Sacred stones,” Aakesh still expressionlessly informed of the total money Gret needed to pay.
Aakesh then returned one ultimate stone to Gret and told him to pay in the respective stones as told. He also introduced the three store cards to him.
Upon learning of the store card, Gret decided to buy one. He took one supreme Sacred stone out and asked for the Supreme Store Card.
Gret only had three ultimate Sacred stones left after the purchase of the beast, and he couldn’t spend one on a store card. There were still products left for him to check in the store.

“The beast is yours,” Aakesh expressionlessly informed Gret after hearing the system’s alert about the successful payment.
“Thank you, store owner!” Gret respectfully thanked Aakesh and put the beast card in his inner world. He wanted to check out the beast and the pattern on its back in reality, but he controlled himself not to be in a hurry.
The beast was too big to be summoned inside the store. If the store’s hall was empty, then it could be summoned, but not when more than half of the space was filled.
Gret also couldn’t summon the beast in his inner world since it was a Lesser God, and his inner world wouldn’t be able to bear its presence. Gret couldn’t destroy his future just because he wanted to see the beast.
Since the purchase of the beast was done and he only had a small amount of wealth left, Gret decided to focus on two products, skills and weapons. The training area was automatically a feature, so it was also on his left.
Of the two, Gret decided to focus on the skill first, and he then asked Aakesh questions related to it.
After the store owner had answered all of Gret’s questions and he was completely satisfied, he thanked Aakesh and then walked toward the skill room, as pointed out by the store owner.
When he entered the room, a large number of customers, the seven counters, and the semi-pillar at the center end of the room appeared in his sight. There were also numerous murals painted on the walls, showing different skills and their uses.
Gret was a Lesser God level cultivator, so he walked toward the one representing that cultivation level. He wasn’t alone, and there were already a few people around that counter.
Every single one of them seemed to be immersed in their own world when reading the skill or pulling it out, so they ignored Gret.
In front of Gret, there were people who would touch each other when pulling out the skill cards, but nothing of the sort happened. It was as if every one of them was isolated from the world; even when two people reached the same shelf simultaneously, they would stay far from each other.
The store owner had already told him the process to pull out the skill card, Gret thought of the element he used and reached for the master level shelf at the bottom row.
Price was an issue due to his low wealth, so Gret decided to start at a low level. If he found a skill that really impressed him, he would then go for the higher level of the respective skill.
The next moment, when Gret pulled his hand out, it held a skill card. Gret immediately focused on the content of the card and began to read it.
Gret’s race, Ralbor, was a demon race that used their strong physiques to fight. The members of the race used their proficiency in the element of metal to make their physiques more durable and their attacks more threatening.
The skill card pulled out by Gret was also of the metal element. But when Gret had read the entire content, his eyes showed nothing. The skill’s effects were not very offensive, so he returned the card and pulled out another one.
Time flew by, and the familiar process of pulling out a skill card and then returning it kept happening. Gret wasn’t going to settle for a skill he didn’t feel completely content with, so he would not stop until he had found a great skill that would impress him enough to go for higher levels.
His attempts didn’t fail him and he finally found one skill that impresed him.
