The First Legendary Beast Master
Chapter 2093: Prizes Announced
While Eryman sat with the Darklight Host members, his guard team was just about to finish their dungeon runs.
Not all of the runs had gone as smoothly as they had hoped, but most of them had gone better than average. The Paladins were well known among the Clan Leaders, even those who were not from anywhere close to them.
So, when it came time to ask them if they were going to be around tomorrow for another run.
Some of the teams had played it safe, and picked difficulty two, which was reliably passable for nearly any team with a proper composition, and some which were not. So, if they had better than average members, they could try to push it to difficulty three, or if they were feeling adventurous, possibly even level four.
If they could pass a difficulty four dungeon, there was a very real chance that they might get more than one Epic Grade item, and for Supreme Ranked powerhouses, those were in desperately short supply.
Seeing one of them in a decade was already considered a good drop rate, and now there was a dungeon that was spitting one out every few days.
Even if you had to do seven difficulty three runs to get an Epic Grade item at Supreme Rank, that was still more than anyone else could have managed to obtain on their own. Of course, getting the item when it dropped was another matter if you were with a random group, but that was a problem that could be solved when the time came.
The only issue that they might run into was that the Legend might have intentions to leave before the next day’s time to run the dungeon.
They didn’t know that the spears were already well underway, and that they would be finished soon enough that Eryman would see no benefit in going home to wait for them. They might not get lucky with portals again, and it might turn into a week long round trip away from their duties.
So, while they were still in the mood to celebrate a dungeon run gone right, they were not sure what the future would hold for them.
Well, most of them weren’t. Two in particular knew very well what their immediate future held for them, and they were already on the way to a room at the Lycan’s Den Inn.
To celebrate with their teammates, of course.
While the Paladins were celebrating, the town guard was beginning to put up the flyers for the tournament. They were already up in the arena, for those who were interested. But now it was getting close enough that they were beginning to put them on light posts through the town.
That somehow made it feel more official, and it would expose the prize details to those who had only come to shop.
It was Opal’s devout hope that it would help pull in more people for the matches, because having the same ones in her stories all the time got boring. She couldn’t do a full series on just the New Home Merchant Clan and the Darklight Host if she was hoping to become a continental hit.
No, she needed a wider variety, and that meant pulling in random people from outside the group of Clans who already knew the schedule.
But the tournament wasn’t a secret, so it was not the event itself, but the top prize that attracted everyone’s attention.
{Prize For The Supreme Winner} To Be Announced
{Grand Prize For Immortals} A custom made Epic Grade accessory or armour piece, with one item bonus to be specified by the winner, plus 1000 Darklight Host credits usable anywhere in town.
{Runner Up Prize For Immortals} An Immortal Rank Epic Grade item to be chosen from the store’s regular inventory.
{Third Place} 500 Darklight Host credits usable anywhere in town, and a 1 week stay at the Dollhouse, all inclusive of hotel amenities and restaurants.
Now, 500 credits didn’t sound like much, but if you were paying in Guild Credits, the prices were much lower than if you were exchanging for gold. That was still enough to get them a rare grade piece of gear, or to cover their stay here in the city for months.
The prize was still massively lower than the second place prize, but it was one that encouraged them to stay for the dungeon, or simply take a vacation and relax for a week.
Still, the top prize was the one that everyone wanted.
You could find amazing things in the shops around town. But if you could ask for any bonus? That would completely change the nature of the prize. An accessory that gave a large bonus to the specific spell that you used most was something that every Immortal duelist looked for.
But the chances of finding one were dismally small.
Many had been searching for centuries for a secret weapon that would give them a huge burst of power beyond their baseline, and the top prize was the ability to just walk into the store and ask for one.
That was a service that the Darklight Host offered, but they normally only did one or two a month.
And those slots went to the truly powerful.
But now it was available to the Immortal Rank winner of the tournament.
As they scrolled down, the smaller category winners were listed, and they were still quite good. The Spirit and Void Immortal winners got a Rare Grade item of their choice and 500 credits. The Ascended Immortal winner got a Rare Grade item and a Villa Stone, plus 500 credits.
That prize caused quite a stir.
The Ascended Immortal category was almost all Elders of their Clans and Sects. The ones who went to rescue trainees and acolytes, and who did the leg work to keep the Clan running. So, getting a safe pocket dimension where they could rest while on the road was a huge bonus for them, though the item itself wasn’t incredibly expensive.
The issue was that Karl was the only one who could make them among the Runecrafters, as no others could use the spell, and he didn’t make many of them.
So, it wouldn’t break your savings to buy one, but you had to get lucky and keep checking the store inventory to get your hands on one when it came out.
