The First Legendary Beast Master
Chapter 2081: Give A Beating
The warrior looked offended at the thought that he couldn’t take the mage without at least one helper, but he didn’t have much of a choice as two of his friends ran out onto the arena sands to back him up.
They had seen the fight, and determined that the Golem Mistress was definitely holding back at least half of her power. So, with two of them, it would be three on one, and that should even the odds against the constructs.
If two of them were enough to keep the summoned fighters occupied, that left one to go directly after Dana.
If they could do that, then they were pretty sure that they could prevail. No matter how good she was with a sword, or the fancy flowery skills that she used, it seemed unlikely to them that she would be able to hold off an actual warrior in close combat.
Everyone in the crowd could see what they were thinking, it wasn’t exactly subtle. But Dana didn’t look concerned as she dismissed all her golems to get the next fight started.
Fair was fair, no precast spells.
The three warriors took their stances as the referee raised his hand to get the crowd’s attention.
"Spectators, we are ready to start the second round of sparring with the Dana Mage of the Darklight Host.
Begin!"
Once the beginning of the battle was called, all three warriors moved at once, encircling Dana, who charged forward into one of the new opponents as four Fallen Seraphim warriors appeared behind her, summoned as her Epic Golems.
For an instant, the warrior thought that he got lucky, and he got to face Dana alone while the others fought two on one, but he had forgotten about the Epic Guard, who appeared behind him, and nearly ended his challenge in a single strike.
Only fast reflexes saved him, and he rolled to the side, where he was chased by a barrage of blade energy from Dana’s attacks.
"She’s not using all her golems. The ones that she’s using this time aren’t the same as before, and she didn’t call the basic stone golems," a mage beside Karl noted.
"Overcrowding hampers her fighting style," Karl agreed.
Technically, they could have five hundred metres if they wanted it, the space inside the arena was not fixed by the physical dimensions. But they were only using a small portion of the available room and everyone was fighting close together.
Now, the battle was six on three, but it was obvious that even three on three, the fight would not be going in the favour of the warriors.
Alone, Dana was forcing her opponent onto the defensive, while the Epic Guard mostly taunted him and counterattacked when it looked like he was going to regain his balance. It was obvious enough to the spectators, who had seen it fight once before, that there was no mistaking how much it was holding back.
The Fallen Seraphim had no such mercy in them.
They brutally tag teamed the warriors, driving them to despair with a combination of spear work and blasts of Unholy Light that seemed to ignore all attempts to block them.
The Unholy Light was not actually impossible to block, it just had [Armour Ignore] as an effect, so while it would stop easily enough for a magical barrier, it would tear right through [Guard] or any attempt to block it with a physical shield.
It was the perfect opponent to put up against a warrior if you weren’t going to troll them with a Spirit Bear Tyrant.
"Is it just me, or are those golems way too strong? The demon isn’t getting hit at all, but the others, the Seraphim, are just ignoring the attacks," one of the spectators noted.
"They’re Epic Golems, very nearly on par with a basic dungeon boss," Karl informed him with a smile.
The man shook his head in dismay as he realized what was going on here. There were four dungeon bosses, plus Dana and her guardian.
The trio of warriors never stood a chance.
But they had already learned that as they were beat down by the Epic Golems long enough that they got a proper feel for the power of the constructs.
With two of the three down, the Fallen Seraphim came to encircle the fight, and the last warrior lowered his blade.
"I yield. Good fight, Noble Dana Mage."
Dana sighed as she realized that was likely how his system displayed her name, then called off the Golems. It was just a sparring match, no need to do anything cruel to the man.
"I do hope that you gained a bit more respect for the combat skills of mages," she replied.
The warrior nodded eagerly. "Your blade skills are strange, but powerful. Even without your golems, you would be a more than capable blade master."
"I will take that as a great compliment coming from you. Now, how about a drink? For the entertainment, the first round at the Lycan’s Den is on me."
Dana could sense through Karl’s thoughts that if she stayed in the arena, she would be answering questions from Golem obsessed mages all night. But she also knew that if she went to the tavern, it would be too loud for deep conversation, and she would be able to get away with only basic questions.
So, she left with the surviving challenger to get the others from the recovery rooms, and left directly for the tavern.
"Is she not coming back?" One of the mages near Karl asked.
"Probably not. The warriors will want to talk to her about blade skills, and the fight. But if you want to know more, you can ask me instead of my wife. I know most of the skills that she used in that fight, other than the flower based ones."
The mage chuckled, "Not manly enough?"
"Nah, they’re Class Skills. I couldn’t learn them even if I wanted to. I’m a Pet Sitter, my compatibility is wrong."
