The First Legendary Beast Master

Chapter 2018: Andrea’s Needs

  • Next Chapter

Karl stepped out of the dungeon to see major construction underway near the tower.

Someone had decided to make a fancy hotel complex, and it only took him a few seconds of listening to everyone’s thoughts to realize that it was their resident Spy Master, along with Cara and Opal.

Which was definitely not fated to be an absolute disaster.

No way that could go wrong.

"Would you like a hand? I just finished a dungeon run, and I can assist with the rune work to put up the new building. I know what the blueprint looks like, thanks to Cara and Opal." Karl offered.

Andrea smiled at him. "Oh, welcome back. Of course, you’re welcome to help. If you have any special ideas that might help us get the best possible experience out of our new hotels and tavern, don’t hold back."

Karl stepped into the middle of the lot that they were remodelling, and took in what Cara had made of the runes so far.

The work was pretty solid, and the hidden features that the badger had added were actually quite well-designed. Some of the uses were questionable, and clearly influenced by Opal’s presence, but most of them were excellent ideas.

Karl did have questions about the Dreamcloth illusionary bathrobes, though. They could have made real ones to sell to the hotel, so guests could purchase them, but the illusionary ones would vanish if you tried to take them out of the hotel.

While that seemed like a great anti theft idea, if you stepped out into the street to meet someone wearing a robe, you would end up naked.

Opal laughed hysterically as she realized the potential of that oversight. She had simply wanted to be lazy and not make actual Dreamcloth robes for all the hotel rooms. But with that drawback, and the potential to make money selling them, she decided to amend the process, and change the in-house robes to terrycloth, with Dreamcloth ones to be added to the rooms later, with a purchase offer attached.

That seemed like a reasonable concession.

The hotel didn’t need much fancy clothing, as they could offer clothier services from Rae’s Darklight Silks shop. If you had a formal event, and didn’t own the right outfit, they could send someone over to get you properly dressed and made up for the evening.

Which gave Opal an even better idea.

Of all the things that the city had, it didn’t have a theatre yet. At least not a good one.

They could add a theatre and auditorium to the fancy hotel, so that guests could go watch a show, or listen to singers. That was the sort of thing that a fancy hotel needed, even more than it needed fine dining.

There as a fancy place like that in Zilaz. They met with the Immortals there, and held all the really fancy events there, like auctions. So, they could have something like that in their town.

They could even do their own exclusive auctions there.

There were always Supreme Ranked Leaders here lately, and they could have them bid for the coolest of items if they had an auction house.

They had been shipping their stuff for auction elsewhere anyhow.

Remi would love it because she could pass off her new products as rare resources, instead of experimental Alchemy recipes. It wasn’t like anyone would know the difference between experimental and a lost recipe.

Karl sighed as his beasts thought of all the best ways to scam people out of their money, but started adding the details of the auditorium and dinner hall to the plans.

Then, he showed the details to Andrea, who immediately understood what they were going for.

"Oh, that is good. A Private Member’s lounge in the back, past security, with full dinner service in the upper boxes, and regular seating down below. I like it. If we soundproof the boxes, with a visible indication of course, we can charge a premium for them, and offer nightly entertainment.

Young Miss Opal will surely be happy to arrange for an illusionary house band to be added to the spells."

"And Dancers!" Opal added.

The Succubus nodded. That would be better. Something like the Spring Festival dances of the Bunnies, with acrobatics and dancers swinging around on silk curtains would be a great backdrop to the evening, while being quiet enough that it wouldn’t interrupt the guests.

There was music that went with it, but it was sensual and low, not obnoxious.

The plans were altered again, to make room for the shows, and Karl sent a message to the bunnies. Just in case they wanted to include themselves in the show at some point.

The dances were a form of worship ritual for the Bunny God, a fertility dance. But the tamer ones could be daily shows, and the Bunnies would want to be there in person, doing the festival day shows.

Even if there were only a handful of diners in the audience, they would want to put on the show.

But Karl didn’t think that the audience would be an issue.

Even if they didn’t have guests for the day, the residents of the city would gladly show up to support their bunnies. Even the Lycans were big fans of the show, and it was one of the few times that they could interact with the bunnies without terrifying them.

Everyone knew that you couldn’t touch the dancers without interrupting the show.

Opal had hundreds of other suitable shows to put on as well, theatre events that she had been writing, and then musicals, plus the usual stage band that would play in a fancy lounge.

So, the main dining hall could be a public luxury dining experience, while the auditorium boxes were private rooms with a show. Then, the lower bowl of the auditorium would only be used for major events, or private functions with larger audiences.

It was all coming together beautifully for the Spy Master.

There was no audience that her facilities did not cater to at this point. Everyone from vagrants with a few coins to Supreme Ranked Guild Masters holding negotiations could be accommodated in suitable style.
