Chapter 1690 Get To The Safe Spot
Chapter 1690 Get To The Safe Spot
The Epic Guard’s arm was severed by the blade of an Ascended Immortal, and the first of the Cerro shaped Greater Golems fell, while Yewan was tossed into the dirt, bleeding from his wing.
The little black dragon only had one thought, “get to the safe spot.”
And there was only one safe spot around.
Karl.
The little dragon dove under the falling body of an Immortal, and between the legs of his remaining defender, the second Greater Golem, who was stalwartly defending the hatchling that he had been tasked with.
Despite the wound that had cost her arm, the Epic Guard fended off three Immortals at the same time, giving him time to escape, just as she had been ordered when the small dragon was handed to her.
A kick from the Ascended Immortal sent the construct sliding across the dirt, right before the attacker screamed in agony, clutching his face.
“{You like that? I’ll claw your eyes out.}” Yewan shouted, driven to defend his new friend.
A backhand swat sent him flying across the battlefield, but in the direction of Karl, where he was hoping to go anyhow.
Karl blasted the enemies around him out of melee combat, and then called a fresh Epic Golem to him as he caught the little dragon.
But before he could hand Yewan off, the little dragon vanished, aiming for the safest of safe spots.
A separate space linked to Karl that smelled like home.
Only, he didn’t successfully enter the Tiny World, he ended up floating in the void.
“{Where is this? Oh, I see, it’s just dark out. I don’t know how to make light.}”
Then, a sun appeared in the void around him, and Yewan realized how this worked. There was nothing here, The Karl needed to add it all. That was fine, he could do that whenever he had time.
Karl shook his head and sighed as he activated [All Things Are Pets] and created a [Pet Space] for the little dragon before Yewan’s ill-conceived attempt to move between realms left him somewhere random.
That was a close call, he had nearly broken the Gods’ prohibition on having a baby dragon when Yewan tried to merge with him.
Only, he did have one, didn’t he?
It wasn’t the same sort of bond as his beasts, but he could still sense all of Yewan’s thoughts while he was in the Pet Space. The little dragon was nearly regenerated from his injuries already, which were mostly just some bruises and a torn wing.
But he was safe and alive, and that was what mattered to the hatchling. Going to the Karl was definitely the right choice.
Karl and the Epic Guard were too busy to do anything about his situation at the moment, as they were being swarmed by Immortals who realized that he had hidden the black dragon in a separate space.
If they could get him back out of there, or kill the one stabilizing the space, they were certain that they could deactivate whatever buff he had spread over the battlefield.
The fact that he had retreated at the first sign of attack proved to them that they had the right target, and the black dragon was the source of the unnaturally strong fighters in the New Home Clan’s defence force.
With the Epic Guard at his back, Karl only had to fight in one direction. A definite improvement, but not enough to give them a complete advantage when there were so many new Ascended immortals around.
Worse, he was being flooded with Soul Energy by the Haint Claw and the Sword of Champions, which was now in Thor’s possession.
He had given it to Cara, but apparently she had decided that she didn’t need it, or she wanted to use a different weapon. Karl didn’t know which, but she had given the soul stealing weapon to the behemoth.
The badger was in the city, defending the remaining buildings from the invaders with the assistance of an entire unit of Seraphim summoned by one of the Darklight Host reinforcements.
They were all Supreme Ranked, and equivalent in quality to an epic golem.
They had skills, and they were excellent at flying. Not only that, but they also had defensive barriers to protect the buildings, and big swords that Rae would love to get her hands on.
“Onwards Seraphim! There is order to spread!” Cara announced, which made the Seraph nearest to her laugh.
If there was anything that the badger was going to spread, it was not in any way ordered or regulated.
They were beings of Order, and they were sent by their summoner to reinforce this place, so that the allies of the Darklight Host had somewhere to return to after the battle. But they had zero faith that the badger was on the same page as they were, even if their goals were the same.
Fortunately, they didn’t have to do much.
They were stronger than the attackers coming for the city, and that would let them hold their assigned zone without needing to have their summoner replace them. With everything going so well, it didn’t matter that they couldn’t figure out what the badger was planning.
But she wasn’t causing them any trouble, so they just let Cara wander as she pleased.
The badger had a goal. The vast majority of the buildings were destroyed, and the enemy’s Immortals were trying to take advantage of the situation. The Seraphim were eliminating the ones that threatened the city, but they weren’t going after the ones who were looting.
Looting was her territory.
Plus, if it came off an enemy, she wasn’t stealing from her Clan members, right? She could donate the vast majority of it back, and they would call her
benevolent.
It was a brilliant plan.
She couldn’t keep the good or personal things, but she could get recognition for giving people their stuff back. That had to be worth something for her
reputation.
With the battle shifting, and the Immortals pressing in on the healing centre, it was time for Leo to shift to his natural state from his humanoid form. He could use all sorts of skills as a small Tortollan, but when it came to actual combat, he was simply too small.
Being a gigantic turtle caused other troubles, but it was incredibly satisfying to simply flipper slap people who came for him.
