Chapter 75: Dead!?

Karl looked toward the Grim as the enormous hole through its chest slowly began closing.

Black flesh stretched across the gap while Death Energy gathered around the wound, rebuilding everything Lucifer’s attack had destroyed.

Then a small smile appeared on Karl’s face.

"It seems you’re not as immortal as we thought."

Leon frowned.

"What do you mean?"

Karl only smiled.

"Just take care of yourselves."

Before Leon could ask anything else, Karl stepped toward Lucifer and quietly said something only the Sun Knight could hear.

Lucifer’s eyes shined shifted briefly toward the Grim and then he nodded.

"Understood, Lord."

The Grim watched them with obvious amusement while the last of the hole through its chest disappeared.

"Finished planning?"

Karl raised the Death Stick.

"Something like that."

The fight immediately started again and this time the grim was fighting far more ferociously not wanting to drag it any longer.

He looked at them and said" I would want to play more with you but sadly time doesnt allow me."

It’s speed increased massively and now even with the addition of Leon they were barely able to stop it’s attack and counteract them.

Karl kept his eyes focused as he contemplated.

If I attack it with abandon this thing will sense it and defend itself and after one failure there won’t be another chance.

As Karl calculated stuff the fight kept going with no progress.

After several more exchanges the grim backed away a bit and sighed.

"Tch, what’s the point of this game let’s end it ?"

Lucifer swung again but his time the grim caught it with one hand and the crushed it and it shattered totally next the grim dodged a d kicked Lucifer even though he blocked it, Lucifer was still pushed back.

Karl had been watching the entire time and atast a small smile appeared on his face again.

good it seems I really wasn’t wrong. ℯℯ𝑙.

Karl looked at Lucifer and nodded and both of them changed there approch of attack.

The grim didn’t care at first but after several exchanges, its expression slowly changed.

Slowly Leon and Mira were pushed back and Lucifer and Karl took the main stage.

The grim glanced and Karl a smile came on its face as it spoke "What are you trying to do necromancer?"

Karl said nothing and attacked again but the grim just shoved the scythe back.

"what do you think there’s something inside me?"

The Grim laughed as he continued mocking him "What do you think I am like those lowly golems?"

"You have grown desperate young man, like every other being grows when faced with their death."

Karl looked at him and said in a nearly nonchalant voice "We will know soon enough who is death of whom."

Karl pulled the scythe back and suddenly shouted,

"Mira, Leon, get away from it."

The looked at him in confusion for a moment as. neither of them understood what he was planning, but his tone conveyed enough.

Mira immediately melted into the shadows while Leon pulled himself away from the Grim and created as much distance as he could.

Grim looked at them with a mocking gaze and chuckled "What!? are you trying to run now hu."

At the same moment, Lucifer activated Rising Dawn.

[Rising Dawn.]

His health began falling rapidly and the golden radiance surrounding his white armor slowly darkened, turning deeper and deeper until a violent blood-red glow had completely replaced it.

With every portion of health sacrificed, the power coming from Lucifer continued rising the grim looked at him with caution and shocked.

But Lucifer had already vanished from where he stood and rushed directly towards the grim crashing into it with his entire body.

BOOM!

For the first time, the Grim was forced backward by his power and abandon.

Its feet tore two long marks through the stone plaza before it finally stopped itself.

Karl immediately moved catching the chance while Lucifer slapped the grim away again cornering it

Its expression changed completely.

"Enough!"

An enormous burst of Death Energy erupted from its body.

Cracks spread through the plaza as the Grim’s body became denser and slightly larger, its fingers stretching into long black claws while the Death Energy surrounding it multiplied several times over.

The pressure struck everyone at once and for a brief moment, Karl’s surroundings seemed to disappear.

Fear, despair and the feeling of death itself pressed directly into his mind, dragging up the same helpless sensation as the worst moments of his life.

Leon and Mira were affected as well, their movements faltering for barely an instant under the sudden flood of negative emotions.

That instant was enough as the grim kicked Lucifer away.

BOOM!

Lucifer crossed the entire plaza and slammed directly into Galzan, who had only just returned from his own fight.

Both of them were sent flying together and crashed through the nearby buildings.

As Karl pushed the negativity away he was already halfway through his attack.

Damn it.

The Grim vanished next and moment later, it appeared directly in front of him.

Karl reacted instantly as his eyes widened and he internally screamed with all his might.

Death Slash

Death Energy surged through the scythe as Karl brought it forward—

Blood suddenly burst from his mouth.

"NO!"

Mira’s scream cut across the plaza, Karl’s body had stopped midway.

The Grim’s arm had already gone straight through his chest.

Its black palm had emerged from his back, and resting inside it was Karl’s heart, still beating between its fingers.

The Grim looked down at him with a satisfied smile.

"Farewell, Necromancer, it was enjoyable meeting you."

Its fingers slowly tightened around the beating heart.

"Do not worry, you will always remain a part of me."

The Grim leaned slightly closer.

"Sadly, you were wrong to think I had a weakness."

"I already told you, I am immortal."

More blood ran from the corner of Karl’s mouth.

Then, despite the hand through his chest, a small smile appeared on his face.

"Are you sure, my dear?"

The Grim’s expression changed and only then did its health bar appear above its head.
